The little hand gesture Bruno made after "You don't have 3 movies cos... you're a producer" was sweet.

And De Niro was actually, well, acting. Pretty excited for this now. The book was hilarious.

i really want a book devoted exclusively to actors, directors, dp's, etc getting axed (or leaving) during productions. go all the way back to victor fleming, take me through mervyn leroy, harvey keitel (both 'apocalypse' & 'eyes wide shut'), nicola pecorini (who is fired just as often as he is hired). i want the dirty details. until then, i'll continue nursing on 'easy riders/raging bulls'.

Mostly it seems to be the bigger douche posts and anyone who takes even a sideways shot at AICN staffers that come in for the deletion ray, but I've seen first posters and other posts vanish as well. It also seems to mostly happen at the start, before talkbacks start to get too long or crowded, or maybe that's just when it's most noticable. But yeah, Captain Delete has been doing his dirty work silently from the shadows for a while now.

Good to see some love for The Edge here. It is a fucking masterwork, beard or no. It sort of knows it's ridiculous, but takes you with it, and yes, more quotable dialogue than you can shake a blood soaked stick at. Hopkins, survival, the wilderness and the biggest bastard bear you've ever seen. Cinematic gold.

does indeed rock pretty hard. If it were to come out now, it would have been the best movie of the year so far. Iron Man is cool and all but compared to a terrific man's movie like The Edge it really isnt' anything special.

... as Jeff did in Iron Man. No wonder there are plenty of bears who would do them, lol. One of my ex was totally crazy for Bruce. And about the movie and the escene... the escene looks OK to me, a bit over the top Willis... but I still wonder how Levinson is an Oscar winning director for Rain Man which was really good but in no way "best" of anything.

But Robert Dinero Playing a Character
by kevinwillis.net
Jul 8th, 2008
06:52:26 AM
While Bruce Willis plays himself doesn't work for me. He's too big to be a character while Bruce plays himself. Movies were actors play themselves should generally have b- and c-list stars playing the other roles. It's just weird to see Robert Dinero calling Bruce "Bruce", but then Bruce called Robert Dinero "Ben".

And, frankly, I have a hard time buying that kind of tantrum from Bruce about a beard.

I was tinking the same thing while watching this. Having Bruce play himself, and DeNiro playing a character took me completely out of this scene. If this is going to be a Hollywood tell all, the non "known" characters should not have been played by superstars.

If Alec Baldwin wasn't such a douche, he would have had the balls to portray himself in this. Come on - Alec - own it, and take the paycheck.

Yeah I know, I was hoping for some bitchy fan boy saying like, he was the bad guy in Ironman DUH! So I could start a debate about how totally useless his character was in that movie and was a HUGE HUGE weakness for the film that everyone seems to overlook, that and the lacking score.
About banning comments
by Series7
Jul 8th, 2008
09:18:59 AM
I think the only comments that should be banned are the annoying spamer a-holes. Like the guy who decides to make up titles to upcoming sequels past 5 things. Its fine if everyone is doing it, like back when the ouija movie was announced, but then it seems to just turn into one guy going on and ON AND ON. Yeah they should be banned. As for anything else shit should be free to fly. But has anyone else noticed the ad between the article and the Talk Back section now? Is it me or are 99.9% of all internet ads fucking useless? Really have you ever EVER clicked on an ad (on purpose, we all know about those fucking irritating movie ads that take up the whole page and half the time there close buttons don't work and link you to their page). But I wonder if the close monitoring of the TB is due to the new ad space? Though that shouldn't matter because movies had bought ads on this site before and Harrys shat all over them.
Matt and Trey and Alec Baldwin
by Series7
Jul 8th, 2008
09:26:23 AM
I wonder if Alec declined to play this part? I bet Bruce and him are friends. Alec if you haven't noticed is pretty much in an I don't give a shit mode. If you haven't watched 30 Rock you need to, its been funny as hell. It was a lot funnier then the Office until after the Strike, when both shows were just killing it. The Amadeus spoof was genius. But anyways.

Alec Baldwin said that he was willing to play himself in Team America, and even approched Matt and Trey to do it. It goes to show who has the bigger ego, Matt and Trey told him that they didn't want him because they wanted to do the voices. I think that it was a terrible move on their part, then again Matt and Trey are probably the most egotistical people in Hollywood at times.

On Bruce as Bruce, and DeNiro as Ben
by Reverend Toast
Jul 8th, 2008
09:44:02 AM
I think it will probably work in the movie. The film is about DeNiro's character, with Stanley Tucci and Robin Wright Penn as other prominent characters. Sean Penn and Willis play themselves... in which I am assuming are smaller roles. The "illusion" doesn't work here because we don't have the rest of the movie to see Ben as a character.

Jul 8th, 2008

Of course Alec Baldwin wouldn't play this part. Would you want to play yourself in an embarrassing part of your life? Especially with all the recent press about his temper, I am pretty sure this would have been a bad choice for him.

My last one banned was replying to someone who was talking of the integrity of AICN 10 years ago, to which i responded 1998 was the year of Armageddon, "pwesents" and Joe Hallenbitch. Loved "The Edge" - "I have a watch with both NYC and LA time on it - so i don't have to go through the agony of adding 3." Also love seeing Augustus Hill from Oz get chomped on by Bart - fave death by ursus ... well besides Grizzly Man

but released as PG-13?

If every parent who has called their child a name, or used an expletive, was broadcast for the world to see and hear, it would be 24/7 channel. And, speaking from experience, Alec may have had some missplaced anger towards Kim. Ex-wives can drive you crazy, AND they know what buttons to push. And next to Glengarry, I think his best was in The Cooler.

And The Edge was Lee Whats-his-name's last movie of merit. I expect him to be directing direct to video any day now.

What should happen in a TB if a poster makes, and I quote, "the gay/racial/religious insults" That Tber gets held up to ridicule and gets slammed over and over. That's how you deal with things like that.

Self policing of TBs works much better then banning, give shitbirds enough rope and they continually hang themselves.

For anything other than solicitation is ass. And if they're already at work at this gestapo shit...then why the fuck aren't they banning those "Seeking a millionaire?I just checked him/her out on blahblah.com and it said she like pizza!".

I mean seriously...modding this thing is one thing..and likely not very welcome...mildly controlled chaos is what makes half the TB's interesting...but there is a little bit of whack priority if someone is gonna get the kaniffy over a rude comment about someone versus a pure dead-goat-fucking advertising shill.

make a blank update with a talkback. Promote as the "unmoderated talkback of the month" and then all of our resident 1st amendment misappropriators can go there and misunderstand the scope of the 1st amendment together while discussing sex with swine and how you can meet hot rich singles at some stupid dot com site.

meanwhile, the rest of us who DO understand the 1st amendment, and want to just have a talkback without the stupid copypasta robots can carry on. We do it with smokers - so why not the copypastas?

protip: having your stupid, stupid comment in a discussion thread on a privately owned website is not a violation of your 1st Amendment rights. If you think it is, your parents, and your educational system have both let you down.
