This project could go in a shitload of different directions. And many of them would be cool. But I'd like to see this as a serious kung Fu film, no gymics. This film should be like it was made in the seventies with an all Chinese cast. As for the music of course it would be cool if RZA did the soundtrack, but i think he should hold back on this and have no hip hop in it at all. Keep it authentic. Shot on film, not digital and no CG. I'm sure RZA and Tarrentino would definitely be down with the no CG rule, just like Kill Bill was. Instead of going the obvious route and making this a trilogy, I'd like to see RZA make totally separate Kung-Fu films, with seperate characters and actors. It would be cool if his SECOND Kung-fu film mixed the genres of SCI-FI and Kung-fu. But this first film should be straight, old school Kung-fu, in terms of the filmmaking process as well. And he's GOTTA film this in Chinese language and dub it in post with English for the US release. I have faith RZA will get this right .

I was talking to someone the other day about Vivica Fox being badass in Kill Bill 1 and Michale Jai White. I think a reasonable priced series of movies like Foxy Brown with Kung Fu could be sweet. Just use the Bourne method of fighting with a little wire-fu kick. It could be really fun.

the ONLY Iron Fist is Danny Fucking Rand. I hope Marvel Studios takes a good look at the current Brubaker/Fraction series and do a seriously good kung fu pic, not some Tarentinoesque blaxploitation film like this RZA thing is likely to be. And I know Ray Park's always wanted to do the Iron Fist thing, but seriously, get a real actor. Park can do a one-note villain or something.

check out RZA's commentary on 36 CHAMBERS OF SHAOLIN
by Vern
Jul 7th, 2008
03:43:24 PM
They have a martial arts movie historian on with him and it's not long before the guy is laughing in disbelief at how much more RZA knows about the movie than he does. He starts asking RZA questions. He seems like he thinks he's being Punk'd by the time RZA is talking about his visit to the actual Shaolin Temple.

But I will keep my excitement in check because as somebody mentioned RZA already directed a martial arts movie called BOBBY DIGITAL, but it never came out. He at least shot some of it, because I saw a trailer with lots of footage. I'm guessing it made no sense.

Whatever he comes up with he needs Jim Jarmusch as executive soundtrack producer so he can tell him to stop fucking around and do another score worthy of GHOST DOG.

But you've got my interest piqued. Now I need to listen to that commentary.

a rapper, from what I'm reading? Making movies? Should we care? Being that AiCN is primarily a movie site, I can understand that some people won't give the benefit of the doubt to a rapper making movies as a hobby. RZA's much more than Some Rapper. This isn't Lil Wayne or Mike Jones making Lil Wayne or Mike Jones: The Movie. RZA doesn't have Scarface playing constantly on his bigscreen, he actually knows Kung Fu flicks (He also knows Kung Fu). It's fun to take a dump on him, of course, but maybe uh, listen to a Bobby Digital album all the way through and read an interview with him. You can remain ign'ant if you like, but if you choose not to understand the subject you're dissing, you kind of have an obligation to shut the fuck up.

Playing the race card? What the Hell does that mean? It seems every time folks get called on their blatant racism someone whips out that lame excuse about "playing the race card". If an attack is based on one's belief that there is a lack of talent, lack of experience, etc., that's fine. But we all know that the first thing that comes to mind when "rapper" is mentioned is a young Black man and the negative reaction is ofetn based on nothing more than that. To me that's racism at work - playing the race card has nothing to do with it. Also, don't be so sure our next president will be Black - despite what people might say to pollsters, let's just see what they do in the privacy of the voting booth (remember Tom Brady in Los Angeles). Also, I know it makes an amusing punchline for a joke, but does anyone really believe that if Obama becomes president that racism will no longer be a factor in this country?

No wonder you picked that name - you are FULL of drama! (among other things!) It doesn't take a mind reader to understand the code words. I am well aware that there are rappers of all races and ethnicities, and I think that's great. But just ask the average person the first image that comes to mind when they hear the word "rapper" and I think you'll find I am correct. Also, I never called you a racist - I said there were racists lurking on this site, and all you have to do is read some of the comments to know that. As for the comment about racism disappearing if Obama is elected, was it not you who made the snide remark that a Black man is about to become President, and followed up with "Whitey ain't holding you down anymore, play-uh"? We do agree on one thing, however, racism will always be here. Just like there will always be folks who pretend it's not an issue when it is.
