Or, more specifically, he was all for them until the Nazis turned on the Soviet Union. Then the loyal Commie became an FBI informant. The Left sure chooses themselves some interesting heroes.

The author of GONE has already posted an opinion on the book's Amazon page in which he complains about a specific AICN poster...and, even better, what the author describes as "a pornographic and obscene round of comments at Aint It Cool News." Christ, what a whiner. At least it's not just AICN talkbackers who consider that GONE promotion to be a disaster.

Proof, please, that Trumbo liked the Nazis and was an FBI informant. I think he went to jail for refusing to name names.

They were completely different legislative entities (Senate vs House), and had no connections that I know of, other than the fact that neither liked communists.

...with all the confidence of someone who doesn't know much about Trumbo. The guy bragged about being an FBI informant, mostly to counter claims of his being an anti-Semite. Of course, Trumbo didn't care much about the plight of the Jews while Hitler had a pact with Stalin. Once that pact was broken, Trumbo contacted the FBI and reported on truly sincere pacifist groups (creeps that they were). You can't really blame Kirk Douglas for falling for Trumbo's lame con, though.

Who other than Bill O'Reilly would describe pacifists as "creeps"? Oh right, Morbid Obesity. From what I have heard, he, like President Bush, has given up golf. We here honor the sacrifices you have made in the name of freedom.
Stage version of Trumbo that is.

I was referring specifically, as you could easily see, to pacifist groups who were opposing American intervention during WWII. In general, I could call them creeps. Specifically, a lot of them were worse. (Hopefully, some loon won't use this to spread more urban legends about the Bush family. JFK's father was okay with the Nazis, though.)

There is a world of difference between a pacifist and an isolationist.
Sure, Paul.

That's a point. Of course, it isn't unusual to find people who describe themselves as both pacifists and isolationists. And it's not difficult to find alliances amongst pacifists and isolationists, as well as isolationists attempting to pass themselves off as pacifists.

...I think we all picked up on how your charges about my "religious identity" were your way of accusing me of being a Jew. Why don't you write to Harry and ask him to require Jewish talkbackers to be identified on the site by some mark next to their name...say, like a little Star of David?
Just the neocon ones.

Just watched it again this week. I love that flick. Great fun, and Strathairn has a standout performance - no small feat in a cast that's stellar across the board.
