But in every single interview, Bell said she wanted to come back to Heroes. Every last one. Now we know, finally, that the sentiment on the other side, when push came to shove, simply wasn't mutual. I blame Kring and NBC-Universal. This has been festering since late February, when TV Guide broke the story that the Heroes producers didn't have her under contract for season 3. Dragged on for four months, this, and for all Bell gave them, acting-wise, this is the thanks she gets? She should have been a series regular; hell, she could have been this season's Big Bad if they played it right. Now Ray Charles can see how this is gonna end, with Elle as Sylar-fodder, probably by election day. It's Teh Suck of all Teh Sucks.

All the obese virgin WoW obsessives creaming their pants over her acting skills make me feel embarrassed and dirty to be associated with you by having watched the show. As someone with a girlfriend who actually sees daylight at the weekends, I can tell you that in S2 only Jack Coleman and Adrian Pasdar were worth tuning in for, and that ain't saying much considering they the stationary store plotline/FauxUkraine and about three minutes of screentime respectively. This show deserves to die, although I will watch it if it can significantly improve on the second season - getting rid of the lamentable K-Bell is a good start.

I didn't watch Heroes when it originally aired. I was at Goodwill and they had a whole table of the season 1 dvds for $20 each. I bought one and watched it and season 2 pretty much back to back. I don't really see all that much difference in quality between the two seasons. Then again I didn't think season 1 was all that awesome in the first place.

I give season 2 a pass, given the abbreviated season and the fact that all of my favorite shows suffer from missteps ('cept maybe Dexter). I just rewatched season 1 and I found it far more entertaining than most of the other (arguably better) shows I rewatch. It also is the easiest show to reboot and change directions if it ain't going well. Compare that to a show like BSG which has only maybe a 1% chance of pulling back from the brink at this point. In fact, I'd be surprised if S3 doesn't end up being good.

I'm no Heroes lover, in fact I think it's been monumentally fucked up as a concept mostly due to Kring never having read a comic, but Season 2 did not completely suck. There was exactly one good episode and one great episode mixed in with the refuse of the season as a whole. The good episode was 2.1 Four Months Later...It nicely established the new story arcs for the coming season and had some humorous moments. The great episdoe was arguably just as good if not better than anything in Season 1. That episode was 2.7 "Out of Time." Why was it great? No Taco Twins for one thing. But it was also grand in scale. Peter and Caitlin jump into an apocalyptic future and she accidentally gets left behind. Parkman faces off against his evil dreammaster father to save Molly. Niki hulks out to try and kill Bob and send Mohinder flying across a room with one punch. Hiro finally takes control in fedual Japan and takes out whitebeard's Army and Kensei and gets the girl. And Kensei shows up alive to Peter to recruit hi mto his side in a shocking twist ending. That was a great example of the show's potential but only a reminder of how much every other episode sucked that season.

the biggest problem with heroes is that the writers dont understand their core audience. i think they figure, well sci-fi/superhero fan will like this show, and they feel alienated and out of place, so we'll make all the characters fell the same. unfortunately, most people who feel 'alienated and out of place' also feel something fantastic happening to them would fix their lives, true or not, thats why people enjoy fantasy story..thats why harry potter was such a success. and thats why the only stand out character that people like is hiro. he's the only one using his powers and happy to have them. (they started to put peter down that path.. which is a step in the right direction) the person i feel really bad for is ali larter. she came into this show with some geek cred, but what the fuck did the writers to her? i mean, who is supposed to enjoy her character or identify with her? single mom, striper, serial killers? shit, ali larter went from being liked by the geek crowd to being one of the most hated characters on TV. and admit it haters, its not her fault, shes acting just fine in the role she's been given, it's just the role shes been given sucks...a lot. unfortunately even if they fixed most of these problems, i dont see the show succeeding because it would need to have a large budget, or the writers would have to become real clever is making it seem action packed with a TV budget (and so far the writers havent proved themselves to be that clever) but hey, im sure we'll soon be hearing from tim kring that he's listened to the fans, and hes putting the show back on track! (just like he said before season two..and again in the middle of season two)

When Heroes started it looked like it was going to be a slow build to a heroic team ... but then they seemed to stall (or even regress) and just stew in character flaws, paranoia and conspiracy. The show didn't become "heroic" to me, rather towards the end of the first season it stopped looking like it aspired to inspire, instead it went too dark and conflicted for my tastes. Ironically, it was Doctor Who that perfectly hit the superhero vibe I was looking for. When I look at that picture, I'm a little worried that as Heroes tries to find its niche again that Claire will be morphed ever more into fetish territory.
