Hulk was good. Better than the last one and the director did a decent jobs but I liked Ironman better So far this year the better movies I have seen have been non CG(or so well you can't tell)films! I must be getting old and I cry when I think how bad the new Indy film messed with my Skull cabbage!

I reckon its worth a watch! i'm a massive fan of dog soldiers and the descent, its not as good as these but its not bad, very Friday night rentable! Its very similar in tone to Escape from New York just not as good. Downpoint: Only 1 set of funbags in the entire film :'(

"Unleashed" has some good scenes, but it feels like two extremely different movies mashed together. The over-the-top cage fights seem a little laughably stylized when combined with the lost-soul scenes in which Morgan Freeman tries to connect with Jet Li (who actually does a good job in the role of an emotionally traumatized man). Bob Hoskins is great, if a little much, like Gary Oldman in the Professional.

I've added Unleashed to my list of films I'll be renting at some point, based purely on your recommendation. That means, as per usual, I will be holding you personally responsible if it sucks. Personally responsible! Anyway, I'm sure I'll like it. Leterrier is great, and I think the only reason I've avoided it is I've been so disappointed with pretty much everything Jet Li has done outside of Hong Kong.

...I won't try to argue that its a "great film" or anything, but I love every second of it. I agree with the poster above who said that it's sort of two different movies mashed together, but that's part of its charm. Structurally it works sort of like a fairy tale or parable....with Jet Lee as Pinocchio trying to become a real boy......one of the most satisfying moments in any action flick is when the hero finally looses his composure and you know that the baddies are already dead...they just don't know it yet. Unleashed does that moment as well or better than anything I can think of...

I'll be the dissenter here and say I thought Unleashed was garbage. The story was all over the place and that third act was just rotten. I enjoyed the heck out of the first Transporter but I turned the second one off when that chick shot a couple rounds into the helicopter and it exploded. Over the top is one thing, laughably bad is another. Dog Soldiers rocked on every level though.

Doomsday is good- it's Marshall's worse film but it is well worth watching with a few beers. Rhona Mitra, while no-one would kick her out of bed for eating crisps, can't act and this is final proof. It only just finished playing in Britain, so you'll have a good while before the DVD ends. I had to go to the West End to watch it. Which pissed me right off. Why the delay Neill? Why? And Dog Soldiers rocks. There can be no debating this.

This isn't the first post that AICN has said Leterrier "did both Transporter films"...he was Second Unit on the first one (or "artistic director" according to IMDb)...Corey Yuen directed the first Transporter flick. That said, I did check out 'The Incredible Hulk' on Saturday and was quite pleased by it, definitely a fun flick!

I haven't seen Hulk, but he steadily improved with each film he made up until then. So far he's batting 100% with me, but I think I'll skip The Hulk and just go right to Escape From Chernobyl.

There are so few out there that have seen STALKER. But I must ask, are you referring to the film or the videogame. Tarkovsky's film is a huge masterwork, the game is great too, but I was just wondering. And yes, I agree, this does sound alot like STALKER. Personally I would love to see more people be interested in the old film through any means, obviously an American remake won't ever hold a candle to the original as no studio would ever greenlight such a minimalist naturalist production.

"The Incredible Hulk" played out like any one of a hundred military action or guy-on-the-run movies. Paint-by-numbers script and plot. Other than there being a couple of big green guys in it, there wasn't much to distinguish it from any other summer popcorn movie.

It doesn't really sound like the Tarkovsky from the description, it really depends on what they face within the Radioactive zone. Just the idea of being within a zone like that is interesting, and I'm sure with STALKER being the pre-eminent film of it's kind, it may draw some elements if it takes that route. I'm sure it will be shit though. I don't really think Letterier is much Tarkovsky revivalist, although I can't put my finger on why. hahaha...Sacrifice was awesome btw.

well it certainly sounds superficially like stalker, the zone was full of traps that they had to negotiate, remember. there were certain areas that had to be doubled-back around and they couldn't approach their objective directly. to think that letterier is going to similarly tackle the philosophical meanings of that film is laughable so i didn't take the original post with that in mind. that shot of all the artifacts lying just under the surface of the water in the stream is probably one of my favorite things ever put in a film. and that bird rising from the mounds of sand inside the building and the music that accompanies it at that moment. it makes you feel as if you're experiencing something mystical on your fucking couch. oh man what a movie!

Absolutely standard and indistinguishable Hollywood fare. Don't get the positive early word at all.. Iron Man was definitely better... they were both weakened considerably by generic, cookie cutter musical scores (someone at Marvel hasn't figured out yet how important the music for films like this... or any film for that matter, is). IM though had the genuine wit in creating the Tony Stark character and RDJ's delivery going for it. TIH had some good actors and they did fine with the roles, but the roles were not that interesting. Also, I'm not a Marvel comics connoisseur so I'm not squealing with glee over the cross references and in jokes... I thought it was somewhat distracting and a bad fit to end the film on one.

I remember on IMDB he used to be listed as co-director. But not anymore? Whatever, we know which one is going to be more famous and get better directing gigs though. As for the Hulk and Iron Man, I feel that they are both on the same level. But I left both of them feeling the same emptyness/unfufillment with them. And since I've gotten back into reading comics I've noticed the same unfufillment/wanting more when reading a month to month comic. Having to wait a month before I find out more of that story. Thats how these two movies are, they are comic books. They are both set up for sequels and we know that and they were both well done, but they were both just huge set ups for a much bigger sequel. Its like ok now that we got that out of the way lets see what they can really do. I don't know if that adds to them being good or what, its just weird.

I know the "smart" people like the Ang Lee version, but this is by far the superior film. It hit all the right notes, and paid homage to the tv series in a wonderful way. I LOVED the Bill Bixby cameo when Bruce lande on the courtship of Eddie's father.LOVED it. I loved Stan Lee's cameo- unlike other films where he was a dude on a beach, a mailman, etc (which were all awkwardly placed), he was a component to the plot of the movie. I LOVED that. And Lou wasn't some dummy walking down some steps this time, an actual conversation took place, where Bruce said "you're the man". That was amazing. And I loved the Incredible Hul music. I loved the idea of Bruce wearing a watch that monitors pulse. Very clever. I loved that when he went back to Bruce, his pants wouldn't fit, so he bought stretchy pants. I loved that Betty gave him purple pants. I loved the scene where he tells her that he has some techniques that will help her temper. I loved that Bruce was trying ANYTHING to control his anger- meditation, breathing exercises, etc. I loved that up until the showdown with the Abomination, The Hulk was the badass. In the trailers, you didn't get that idea. Just a great, great time at the movies.

It just was. I thought that the movie was kind of sloppy in some places. I thought that Jeff Bridges was just weird in that movie. But I did enjoy it and i'm looking forward to the next one. I have to say the Incredible Hulk is the most entertaining movie I have seen this year.

I have to admit I first thought of the videogame when I read the proposed synopsis for this article. Whilst Stalker the movie has some obvious connection as well, I'd hope they don't try to remake it.
