Haven't seen the series, but have been a big fan of the Wright/Pegg combo so far. So, I just bought the tix... now I need to make sure the Regent theater is the same one I'm thinking of in LA.

The references to Jar-Jar hate alone should win over anyone who knows what it means to talkback. I'd say this one lives up to the hype it gets around here. But then, Pondscum, if you don't recognize The Wire as the lord and savior of all of mankind's televised efforts thus far, and instead willingly practice idolatry, I'm not sure we're at all on the same page about hype.
Not A BBC Show

This was shown on Channel 4 in the UK. No wonder Americans think the BBC is so amazing when they see the logo on 99% of UK dvds. BBC Video is only distributing it in the states along with a whole host of other IP's.

will it translate?

I'm a Brit, living in London and love the show but can see lots of it being completely lost in translation as it makes its way over the Atlantic. Also a lot of the gags and movie references are a bit out of date after all this time. Pegg has more hair though. Great, innovative and funny series.
It's aimed at geeks of a specific age and background

I have been waiting for this to come out on DVD forever. The first time I heard of it was on the SotD commentary, and after failing to track anything region 1, I stomached a download...Best moment of piracy ever! I showed it to all my friends and a large number of my fellow students, and based on that little bit of digital thievery, I can guarantee I've added several dozen people to the list of rabid american Spaced fans who are awaiting the chance to purchase it legitimately as much as I. It's about friggin time!
Check out Nathan Barley, folks.

... it leads me to foolishly imagine we could get those godly SPACED heroes here in Bumblefuck, Alabama. And then I remember Alabama barely even COUNTS as America. And then I curse you. And then I curse me. And then I curse SPACED, for being so damned good -- and so very, very far away. =(
