I read the info on the link, and it sounds like it's probably Nightcrawler, not the Beast. They said that in the picture his long tail was hanging down, but the Beast doesn't have a tail-Nightcrawler does.
Wasn't his back story pretty well alluded to?

In the first 3 films?

X-Men - Holocaust survivor which pretty much explains his motivations for much of the film

X2 - revealed he used to work with Charles and helped build the super computer used to track mutents

X3 - Fugitive on the lam inadvertantly kills Charles and unleashes the Phonenix in Jean, finally defeated losing powers - seems to be getting them back in last scene.

All that being said McKellan better be involved somehow. I really can't see anyone else playing him now.

i refuse to believe that the public at large still needs these origin movies. they know who Wolverine is. There have been THREE Wolverine movies already. there is no need to call it X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Call it Wolverine or call it SNIKT or call it Logan: Lost Son of the Great White North for all i care, but it doesn't need the X-Men tag on it.

and with the endless bad ass stories that studios could pull from the books, why do a fucking Magneto origin story?

makes no sense.

What fucking reason do they have for making the X-Men into some sort of stupid half-assed trilogy? So stupid to me. They could be easily on the fourth movie with kick ass sentinels, etc... they coulda kept on cashing in on such a popular franchise. Get the rights to the X-Men films? As much as I liked X2, the casting for these movies was never really a strong point. Wolverine is a slim and tall? Halle Berry miscast as Storm (should have been Angela Bassett), Rogue not being the tough southern belle she was in the comics, Angel was a waste, Iceman was poorly used, Colossus not having an accent, Nightcrawler disapearing after X2 pfff (pun intended) Magneto looking too much like Gandalf the Grey than the badass leader of the Brotherhood. Jean Grey/Phoenix....don't get me started.....WTF!!! Fuck doing a new movie, Fox/Marvel should do their own TV series ala Heroes that with the X-Men and get a bunch of no name actors who could probably work better than Halle “You know what happens when a toad gets struck by lightning? The same thing that happens to everything else.” Berry. Save some of the budget you would pay the big stars for effects and promotion. Also, I gotta agree with Sailor Rip, Rutger Hauer would have made a great Magneto.

money. Money that could be padding the executive's paychecks. I guarantee you this was the case. They want to continue the franchise but with fewer mouths to feed. Hence the Magneto and Wolverine spin offs. For Fox it's always about the bottom line, not about the films.

do it all CG, like the cut scenes from Ultimate Alliance and X-Men Legends.

saves tons on budget, makes the fight scenes(that would have been CG) look fluid, and lets the X-Men have actual X-Men costumes. keep them PG13, with R rated versions (blood added) DVDs sold.

it would be rad.

and if a CG Starwars movie can be released in theaters, why not X-Men?

i care way too much about this.

May 14th, 2008

Marvel Films needs to get the rights back for all of their propereties that have been shepherded out over the past decade-X-MEN, DAREDEVIL, SPIDER-MAN, FANTASTIC FOUR, etc.-and restart the franchises with good directors and new casts. If IRON MAN is evidence of how they're going to handle their characters, then this would be a genius move. Hopefully, IRON MAN isn't a fluke. But it's hard to tell how long the rights to those other characters belong to other studios.

the guy who they had for the Jamie Madrox cameo in x3 was perfect, one of the few things they got right in that movie.

Anyway, this guy IS an x-idiot, if he thinks Beast has a tail and that there's any such thing as "Young Beast." There is no 'young beast.' When McCoy was young, he wasn't blue and hairy. He only became blue and hairy long after he graduated from Xavier's and was working as an adult scientist. I really hope it's Nightcrawler, because of the European angle. We can see Xavier saving him from the mob (even though it conflicts with film continuity), we could even see him having a thing with Wanda. And they can cast younger than Alan Cummings, who was great, but not definitive.

I'm not an Iron Man fan, but after reading about how many people lauded the film, I went to see it myself over the weekend. It was entertaining, sure, but hardly the Second Coming that fans make it out to be. I would definitely look forward to seeing a movie focus on the Magneto character. Like I said in my above post, I find villains much more intriguing than heroes. Hannibal Rising could have been amazing had Thomas Harris poured more heart into the script and his horrible novel.

Maybe, JUST MAYBE, they'll take a more cerebral approach this time around, and tell a good story. X3 was just a rediculous steaming pile in the story department. However, I will say that in all three movies, I've enjoyed the interaction between McKellen and Stewart. They have a great dynamic, and I'd love to see an X-Men film that focuses mostly on these two great actors playing the rolls of two people trying to come to terms with their abilities and how they'll fit into the world around them. Oooooor it could totally suck. Who knows. But I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

Electra had better music-hell that hero movie with ben stiller probably had a decent orchestra score.Dub the robocop theme over iron man's cheesy middle of the road metal and see if it doesn't make the movie better. No excuse for how poor the music was.And while we're nitpickin(spoiler)-talk about no realism whatsoever when he crashes from his escape-could have had a parachute or slowed his landing before crashing.Without enertial dampening-iron man could never be much more than robocop.I believe someday we will make very close to ironman though-just look at the big dog-that thing is being weaponized and will be in the army in 2012.And there is an augment suit program that's already impressive

Does any body really care about a Magneto prequel? I am a huge comic movie fan, yet I am indifferent to this concept. It doesn't excite me a little. Here's my advice to who ever is behind this idea. Don't bother, no one will come, and money will be lost. I'm not kidding. Seriously, nobody wants to see this movie. I'm not a hater, I would love an X4 or even a Cyclops movie (I can overlook that he's dead). But a Magneto prequel is uninteresting. I'd rather A League of Extradordinary Gentlemen 2, seriously.

be about eight minutes long, based on his previous screen time. (Granted, he ain't that intriguing a character.) And in defense of X-Men 3, at least there was no Gambit. Coulda been worse.

People might know him as Brutus from HBO's Rome series. Aside from that, if this movie doesn't have McKellen in a large role, there is no point. It would be great to restart the franchise with Magneto in the present, show how he reacquires his powers and, in the tradition of LOST, flash back to his beginnings. All of it ultimately sets up X-Men 4 and the return/rebith of Xavier and Scott. Along the way we'd finally meet Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch as well. Without that kind of overall vision, this will not be worth anything.

Is it because they finished the story arcs with some of the characters, so that the status quo couldn't go on forever like in the comic books? Gave Jean Grey a non-ridiculous rationale for transforming into Phoenix, that didn't involve bird aliens and spaceships?

X3 took arguably the most powerful entity this side of Galactus in the Marvel Universe, and reduced her to playing sidekick for the sole reason of destroying some PLASTIC FUCKING DARTS.

That, my friend, is RIDICULOUS.
Ian McKellan was a horrible choice for Magneto

in the 3 X-Men films. In the comics Magneto was a middle-aged dude with gray hair. In the movies he is a fucking senior citizen with white hair. Horrible, horrible choice for Magneto.
BTW, X-3 Was The Best Of The X-Men Films By Far

You people who hate on X-3 and not the first 2 films are retarded. X-3 was fuckin great compared to the first 2 movies. "DON'T YOU KNOW WHO I AM!?! I'M THE JUGGERNAUT, BITCH!!!" hahahaha fuckin great line.

Doesn't matter who is casted or how it is wrote. Magneto is only good when the X-Men are around. I bet it is the male version of Marvel's Electra. Remember that one.

How about an Aunt May movie. Would love to see that. If that doesn't work than get me an Alfred the Butler movie. So much potential from my ideas than this crock of crap.

about how "this isnt how the character is supposed to be, because its different than in the comics". consider this, marvel comics earth 616 is its own universe. marvel ultimates comics are in their own universe. marvel movies exist in their own universe. get it? its an adaptation. lets face it, iron man vs. magic asian nemisis would suck to see live action. the cartoon movie sucked. so dont you think they should take the magic aspect out in the sequel? just like making jean grey a magical entity would have been laughable. just like peter parker building web shooters and running out of web fluid every 5 minutes would have sucked. just like making the venom symbiote crash land to earth on a meteor instead of it coming back to earth with john jamison.... wait, they did that. that was a sucky idea.... seeing as how they already established him as an astronaut in spider-man 2(but i guess that is better than doing a secret wars movie just to get venom into spider-man 3)comic book geeks need to seperate the films a little from the comics or they are NEVER going to be happy with the movies. view it for what it is, not what you wish it had been, because alot of times... it just wouldnt have worked if it was the way you wanted it to be. you know what happens when you get exposed to radiation? you get cancer and die. you dont get superpowers. fucking lighten up already people.

Are you sure you weren't masturbating to Ben Foster? I can see how you could get the two confused: one's a little girl, and the other one is Ellen Page.
