So ABC is shooting to lose viewers?

Seen like three episodes of Scrubs, all because of a cute girl, and the show is completely not-funny. Well, unless you compare it to Friends. ABC gets zero points.
Here's hoping it ends well...

Glad this show will get a proper send off... I'm not sure how you can say this show isn't funny. But what I did find funny was you allowing a girl to control what you watch. WHOOPSH!

Scrubs is definitely one of the most well written half hours of the last ten years. Funny, poignant and true to life (considered by the medical profession to be the most 'realistic' hospital show on the air). I'd say, the only other sitcoms in its league are Sports Night and MASH.
Scrubs isn't the funniest sitcom...

But it has had some very well written plot structures that make it entertaining nonetheless. I'd rate it somewhere between Frasier and Arrested Development.

Didn't know that, I thought I was just watching reruns for the past 2 years. Did anyone see the supposed finale on Thursday? It was like random left over episode they never knew when to air it.

Obviously just find reasons to hate something to feel important. The fact is, Scrubs is about the only scripted show on TV that I can watch. THat and the simpsons. And topless Megan Fox stuff

I usually enjoy it but that fairy tale episode was really, really poorly written. Written for post-lobotomy patients poor. Not hating, just telling it like it is.

Zach Braff is...

...cool for staying with the show two extra seasons after he decided to move on. They asked him to stay another season to wrap it up and he agreed. And now because of the writer's strike he's sticking it out until the end. Sure, he got beaucoup bucks to stay, but most actors feel no loyalty to the properties that made them famous. So here's to Braff, who seems like a mensch to me.

You have to give it props for being one of the first single camera comedies that didn't get cancelled immediately. Arrested Development, The Office, and 30 Rock have all since topped it, but Scrubs definitely paved the way. That said, it is without a doubt past its prime, and I hope ABC doesn't milk it for too much longer.

I will give it that it has gotten a little repetive and formulaic over the years, but still better than a lot of comedies out there (the few there are).

Considering "According to Jim" is ABC's flagship comedy, Scrubs is a major upgrade.

It was Once a brilliant comedy. Season 1 - 5 where wonderful somewhere around 6 it got stale and season 7 while off to a good start, went off the deep end with its last couple episodes (STRIKE TO BLAME). Bill Lawrence has said that season 8 will be in more tone with seasons 1 and 2. So that gives me hope it will go out on top. Even if it doesn't I will always be a fan. It has given me way to many laughs not to. KNIFE WRENCH!

Stealing Tom's gimmick...How low will you stoop?? I think you forgot to post a one line useless comment in a anime TB last week. You should go rectify that.

Why was Laverne alive on the season finale of Scrubs last week? I thought she died or something? And why was Dr. Kelso still at the hospital when he retired the week before??Ä

It's all explained in Zach's myspace bulletin: Also, several of you were very confused by the fact that Dr. Kelso and Laverne were still working at the hospital in the Fairy Tale episode. Because of the writer's strike, the last remaining episodes for NBC were aired out of order. This is why Dr. Kelso was still chief of medicine. That was not Laverne however, for those of you who have been following closely; it was a new nurse "Shirley" who no one thinks looks anything like Laverne except for JD.

Thanks for the update; I thought I was going crazy. It's not me; it's the network. Was wondering why the tinfoil wasn't working.

Seriously though: weak fucking premise to keep the actress who plays Laverne on. That is way more on the "soapy" side than the comedic/dramtic. They had some great tension when George of the Jungle (The Brenden Fraser!) croaked it. Totally cried during that ep. The only other one I get a bit weepy at is John Ritter playing JD's Dad.

There used to be lessons learned in between the funny on Scrubs. Lately, it's becoming increasingly disjointed japes like a mantee penned Family Fucking Guy.

PS: Family Guy sucks.Ï

Esp. the one where the heart patient's death turned into a big Broadway showstopper--I believe that was the screentest for the Musical Episode several seasons later. I also enjoyed when the Polyphonic Spree guested.

since its a disney show, i always wondered why it didnt air on ABC from the get go, but lets say it had...wonder if it would have done better and been treated better. anyway i just hope that even if the ratings are better than they ever were, they dont try and convince them to stay. they were lucky they got a chance to do a proper finale season, so lets hope they stick to that plan. oh and speaking of that fairytale episode, Elliot looked soooo hot in her princess costume....yum.

But comedy is highly subjective, and this show didn't do anything at all for me. Which isn't to say it's bad... I know too many people who I consider to be intelligent who like it to declare it "without merit"... just definitely not for me. Glad the fans get one more go-round with something that, for whatever reason, seems to connect with them.

Carpoolers, Cavemen, Notes From The Underbelly..face it ABC hasn't had much success with the sitcom since their glory days in the '70s. At least Samantha Who has the adorable Applegate. Too bad they're picking up Scrubs way past its shelf life.

I believe ZB means the show will end in the Fall, not that there will be only one episode in the Fall. There will probably be between 6 and 13 episodes.

I like Scrubs, but it is formulaic. Someone earlier compared it to MASH and Sports Night, bith of which I hated, so I would not Damn the show by doing that. In my opinion it has a mild case of "Night Court" syndrome. While NC had much more lowbrow humor, it would be stupidly funny for most of the episode until the end when some important issue would be addressed completely seriously. It was the most retarded thing ever. Scrubs is not quite as bad, generally, but it has some structural similarities.

IMHO, a show that mixed the serious with the funny, without ever losing the funny, was Titus, at least during its first two seasons.

I don't know how they're gonna fit the 18 new eps

Seriously, why do talkbackers have to piss on everything they happen to not be fans of? First the anti-Donnie Darko attention seekers who never seem to get it that they really don't like the film and that other people don't care. Why are you even bothering to read the article and comment if it doesn't interest you?

"...they never knew when to air it." It wasn't "like" that, that is exactly what it was. I thought it was very obvious it was from earlier in the season with Kelso there and the Keith subplot (when's the last time he was on the show?) and JD saying he & Elliot "almost kissed a month ago", which had been the beginning of the season.
