2. I hope this DOES end up feeling like "another episode". Because most of those low budget TV "episodes" like HOME and CLYDE BRUCKMAN'S FINAL REPOSE were much better than Hollywood films. I don't want this to be a CGI overkilled dud like Matrix Reloaded.

3. Yes, the titles does suck though. They should have used the same title in Latin or Anasazi. But if Skinner, Mulder, and Scully are going to be on the big screen, who cares --- I'd pay $8.50 to watch them paint a fence for 2.5 hours.

Myself I think the age thing is a bonus. The original teaser poster (and first cut of the trailer) seemed to be playing on the nostelgia and 90's pop culture iconography of the X-Files when the public cared about Mulder and Scully fighting aliens and it was all fun. When you think that it started 15 years ago - the first Jurassic Park was still playing in cinemas - the nostlegia can be a big factor fpr people looking to relive that mid-90's era. We'll see. Either was, at a budget of $30 million it can't really flop, although I really, really hope it's big enough to justify at least one more film where they deal with the alien invasion. I mean I can see why they're worried about people being put off by the mythology but come on - everyone loves a good alien invasion movie, if Mulder and Scully are in it it can only make it even better!

As for the cameo I want to see? Giovanni Ribisi busting out of that nuthouse they left him in Season 3 watching music vids about diarrhea and strikin some folks down with lightning. Uhbooyah.

All seriousness - I can't wait for this--- trailer was all it needed to be --- because if the movie works, it'll be word of mouth like anything worthwhile, see Speed Racer come in second? They're gonna pull in only $3 million this week and then die, just watch.

10. War of the Coprophages (a comedic episode where Mulder encounters what may or may not be an invasion of alien bugs).

9. Quagmire (about a "Loch Ness" like creature and features the last appearance by Queequeg).

8. Pusher (a serial killer who can control the minds of others, probably has the highest body count of any episode).

7. Red Museum (starts out about teenagers who wind up in the woods with "he is one" scrawled on their backs).

6. Die Hand Die Verletz (about a demon from Hell bent on punishing Satan worshipers who no longer commit human sacrifices)

5. Never Again (a Scully centric episode about a man who starts taking murderous advice from his new tattoo).

4. Bad Blood (a Roshomon like episode where Mulder and Scully recount a case about backwoods vampires).

3. Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose (about a psychic who can tell when and how someone will die).

2. Home (the agents investigate a dead and buried newborn only to come across a strange reclusive family).

1. Jose Chung's From Outer Space (a perfect summation of post-modernism in under an hour).

I really hope this film pays off.

It sounds like an impossible test: please old fans, please new fans, outdo a previous film that had a bigger budget, and on top of all that, have a resolution that will satisfy fans without touching on the whole mythology arc that was the narrative backbone of the series.

It sounds impossible. Will they manage it, or just punt, and even if they take the easy way, will it still be fun?

The more I think about it, the more this sounds like the most difficult possible sequel to get right.
