Sahara wasn't necessarily an Indy Jones ripoff. It was based on a Clive Cussler novel, and Cussler's protagonist, Dirk Pitt, has been around at least a decade longer than Jones. However, the movie was a very watered-down version of Cussler's novel, and yeah I thought the filmmakers gave it an Indy-type feel rather than let McConnaughy really bring Pitt to life (frankly, he's nothing what I thought Pitt should look like anyway).

Why else bring this old news up? Get the rabid geek opinion. The most interesting thing about The Crazies was Romero's notion that crazy people would be as dangerous as Zombies in sufficient amounts. And the bit where the scientist find the cure but he doesn't get to tell anyone. Did anyone ever put in the rioting crazy pedestrians code in the older Grand Theft Autos? The image of crazy pedestrians jumping off bridges to attack me still freaks me out....

... I seem to remember Romero saying that one of its first cinema releases had six people at it. Not a good start ... the trailers on youtube for the original look entertaining enough. Also, apparently high school kids from the area got to play extras including a lot of the soldiers, which would have been cool.

Jack Ketchum's "Ladies' Night"

The original Crazies is a pretty decent flick. The remake will probably feel like a typical modern horror film. The sheriff bit means someone close to him gets down with the sickness. Most likely his wife and kids, and after he has to kill them. He could care less about who he has to kill to save the non sickies. Then the military storms the town shooting all that walk sick and non sick. Putting the sheriff into super fuck em up mode. Kill the Sick, Save the Well!

don't they just start re-making Romero's movies before he even releases them? I don't really, his two masterpieces Night and Day have been remade and Day was one of the best remakes ever. Nights been remade like a million times. Past that his movies are weak. Its not like John Carpenter's movies.

Twice removed.

Pegg's a distant Step Cousin of Jackson Great Grandfather on his Daughter In Laws side.

She never remarried, but she got pregnant by another man, and the resulting son's wife gave birth too Pegg. So Pegg and Jackson have the same last name as well

Think the movie Twins. One enforces the law. The other bags produce.

Both kick a lot of ass.

And Dawn the remake doesn't hold a candle to the original. The goblins score, the setting, the tone, the main cast, the message. The Dawn Remake is entertaining, sure. But better than the original ... If you honestly had too choose which one, and the other would be lost forever. I don't think you would choose the remake. If you would. What in De hell is the world coming too!! And yeah the just remade Day too, but I don't think you mean that one. Night 1990 was a better remake then Dawn or Day's remake, but again how can you ignore the original????

His sticking to the Zombie Genre is tarnishing that image a little, but his films speak well of his talent. I don't understand the haters. So many of his fans keep pushing him to make more Zombie flicks. I think he needs to step away from that.

What is shit.

Night Of The Living Dead? Martin? The Crazies? Dawn Of The Living Dead? Bruiser? Season Of the Witch? Creepshow? The Dark Half? Tales From The Darkside "Cat From Hell"? Two Evil Eyes? Monkey Shines? Knightriders? Day Of The Dead?

Sure he's made some bad films. But Films like Martin, Dawn, Night, Even Creepshow. Show that this man is a great filmmaker.

I will admit part of the blame for Creepshow sucking so bad is due to Stephen King's involvement. This was during the era he was consuming massive amounts of cocaine and woke up one day thinking he was a film-maker. Thank God he gave that shit up (the drugs and the films).

a zombie purist debate...but FUCK running zombies. Fuck zombies that aren't really zombies and are just "infected" too. FUCK IT. It's a dumb concept. Creepshow, like it or not, is still a classic. As far as im concerned the worst mistake made was King deciding to act. Since then he's just stuck to cameos.

I just happen to love the concept. I liked Tales from the Darkside as well. I am bit biased towards anthology films and shows, just because I like the concept, BUT some have been done badly and Creepshow isn't one. There's a lot of great stuff there. "The Crate" and "Father's day" never fail to entertain me. It's a very effective mix of horror and comedy. Let's not forget that the project was quite often tongue and cheek.

Read the short tale. Creepshow 1 was aces above Creepshow 2. Maybe I didn't like The Raft segment as much as you guys because I read the actual short story. Chief wooden head was pretty dumb, and the hitchiker was super dumb. I'll take The crate, Fathers Day, They're Creeping Up On You, Something To Tide You Over, and Jordy Verrill's Meteor Shit over anything in Creepshow two. King's son plays the kid with the comic book fetish in the begining. I own the DVD for both creepshows..

The only other great anothology horror flicks I can think of that are on par with the original Creepshow.

The original Tales From The Crypt movie, The Vault Of Horror, The House That Dripped Blood, 2 Evil Eyes, Tales From The Hood, Trilogy Of Terror, John Carpenter's Body Bags, Nightmares, Twilight Zone The movie.

I like two stories in Tales From The Darkside movie, so I don't count it as a great. All of the other ones kick ass!

It's colorful, well-directed, pitch-perfectly acted slice of darkly humorous horror and is undoubtedly one of the best horror films of the 80s. _crazies_ was shot in 35mm (as was _night_, you may be surprised to know), as opposed to the original _dawn_, which was 16mm. though i'm with everyone on the lameness of romero remade, the plot of the film is a bush metaphor in extremis -- "human error," for real! actually, i like series7's idea about romero re-makes: re-make the films BEFORE he makes them! i'm sure i'll like the "re-make" of _diary of the dead 3: die free or diary hard_ even mnore than the original, esp. if the re-make comes out first...

The R1 unrated director's cut of DAWN remake is censored. A naked girl is seen walking in front of the car, but they (Universal?) show digital blood on the windscreen obscuring the girl. What have the American distributors, producers etc. got against nudity in some films? Here in the UK the dvd is uncensored along with other versions. I still have not read anything as to why the scene is censored. Anybody know? Oh by the way, the original DAWN is brilliant and much better!
