...on High Rock. I'm still waiting for someone to option this old comic strip from Brit comic 2000ad. It was a fantastic story with great Alan Davis art. If they can capture a bit of that in this film I'll be happy. Also, I know it wasn't a prison flick as such, but if it siphons off a bit of Outlands cool, it'll certainly be worth a watch. Quietly optimistic.

Most of American movie goers are too lazy and ill-informed to know anything about basic astronomical knowledge. So to them, a prison on Jupiter would work just fine. FUCK! Prom Night was number 1 for what was it? Two weeks? I personally think we should get back to natural disaster movies. I want to see a volcano on the moon spewing lava at earth and it pouring over all of our major cities and landmarks. GOOD STUFF!

the only thing solid about Jupiter is its core, which is only solid because of the extreme atmospheric pressure above it. The core of jupiter lies hundreds of thousands of miles below the gas surface. If you were to actually go there, whatever was left of you after you vaporized would be crushed by the plants gravity.

It doesn't say which moon it is
by judderman
May 5th, 2008
01:07:50 PM
It can only be one of four moons: Io, Europa, Ganymede or Callisto. The others aren't big enough. They may be stupid enough to set it on Io, but Io is basically a giant volcanic ball in a microwave oven; anyone standing on the surface even in a spacesuit would be sterilised within five minutes, to say nothing of covered in lava. Europa's basically a giant ice cap over a liquid ocean. Not really the sort of place you'd want to build anything long term. So I'd say either Ganymede or Callisto.
Why Not Io?
by volcanopele2
May 5th, 2008
01:19:13 PM
Any culture advanced enough to be capable of affording to put a prison in the outer solar system would be able to provide shielding from the charged particle radiation at Io. Besides, that provides an additional deterrent to escaping (leave the bubble/prison), get fried. As far as lava goes, well, here is a thought: DON'T BUILD THE PRISON NEXT TO A VOLCANO! Only 10-20% of the surface is covered in Holocene-age lava flows, the rest is more like Antarctica, a flat, featureless snowfield (albeit a yellow, red-brown, or gray snow field). As long as the site is carefully chosen, the only major geologic hazard would be seismic tremors, with major quakes being more common than on Earth.

Smoke Monster Loves Kate: Europa is not the best Jupiter moon, Io is. Europa is the armpit of the solar system compared to a kickass place like Io. And you dis Titan (as Dr.DirtyD mentioned, Titan is a moon of Saturn, not Jupiter)? Wow. Viva la lunas rojas. SanityKaos: So because one film was set on Io, no more movies can ever be set on any of Jupiter's moons. So Heat is set in LA, we can check Los Angeles off the list of film settings? Been there, done that. Please.

gravity, heat, atmo, all that would kill you... and even if it didnt dont they know that Jupiter is going to be infested with rectangular objects that will make ingest itself and Supernova creating a second sun for earth? Which will bring peace to mankind because we are just tenants who have just been given a new lease, and a warning from our landlord? That is.. until the heat from this second sun scorches the earth and kills every living thing on it By the year 2010--- So all of this prisoner talk on Jupiter is just kind of academic then isnt it?
