... just blatantly allow the one cylon who kept her prisoner on New Caprica? I love this show to death, but that just doesn't make sense and goes against everything this character would do. Just a few weeks ago she threatened Anders that she would kill him if she ever found out that he was a cylon, and now I'm supposed to believe that she would freely allow Leoben on to her ship? This better be good RDM!

This show really had some promise... but it did the same thing 'Heroes' did... got full of itself (and the money it was making on secondary sales and advertising) and punted it's integrity for cheap shows. I can't tell you how SICK I am of hot chicks literally throwing themselves at the sniveling piece of shit Baltar. *sob* "I'm the VICTIM heah!" This show is like nothing else ever. It's still absolutely amazing. "Jump the shark"? Bunch of inbred hapsburg chimps. Go suckle at the teat of a malformed yack, you slimy pieces of worm-ridden filth. You don't have a clue about ANYTHING. Go back and take your place at the front end of the evolutionary chart, you know, right between the fish crawling out of the water and the on-all-fours man beast. Friggin' luddite hater scum. "Punted its integrity." What an assinine thing to say. There is NO other show, except maybe LOST, that will do to its main and loved characters what this one has done and continues to do.

Seriously. Name one show currently airing on TV as good as the worst episode of BSG. There isn't any, with the sole exception of LOST.

And I love how you all were LOVING BSG S4 after 4x1-3. All I saw on the forums was "OMG STARBUCK IS BAKK, ZOMG STARBUCK TOOK MADAME PREZ HOSTAGE, ZOMG CAVIL ROXX0RZ, OOOO CALLY!!!".

Then BSG throws us one single more subdued episode ("Escape Velocity") that served the simply get the audience from point A to point B on a few smaller plot arcs, and idiots are already screaming about that frakking shark? Get a grip. This show is as solid as iron.

And the evidence for this is Baltar's womanising, and Starbbuck's swearing? Doesn't that mean, in fact, that BSG 'jumped the shark' about halfway through the original 2003 mini-series? That's one of the dumbest things I've read this week.

In my opinion, of course. But I've have watched all the sci-fi and escapism over the years, and also have a list making sort of brain.

And I have come to the conclussion that the best show of scripted drama I have ever seen is BSG. And season 3 episode 4 (Exodus part 2) is hands down, THE BEST hour of TV I have ever seen. Cant think of another episode of another show that even touches "Prepare for Turbulance"

Have had great love for a lot of shows. ST:TNG (best of both worlds), Buffy (the last episodes of season 6), and even House, Lost. Rome was phenominal as well, and if continued may have burned a higher place in my heart (Thirteenth!!) - but its back to BSG again. First it was 33, then Downloaded, then Exodus. They just keep raising the bar with every series. And there is still more to come!!!

And Boston Legal????? Mwhahahaha!!!

Admittedly...

They were not specific. They said it was a "preview" when it was a full episode. You know, like a PRE VIEW. When you go see a movie preview at a theater, do they show you 15 minutes? No. This week they said it was a 10 minute preview, which was specific. But then again it's just another week, with something else changed. They just can't make up their minds.

Your check for proprietary use is coming via PayPal. As for FTL "jumped the shark," I'll stand by my guns. In the immortal words of MC Hammer, THEY'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!! (http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=sVVGCpJPbng)

We're in late-season X-Files territory now, folks, with Ron Moore et al just making it up as they go along. How many more times can the same sets of characters (Lee-Adama, Lee-Roslin, gnash at each other's throats, in full defiance of whatever's happened in previous episodes/seasons? Roslin has cancer..no wait, she doesn't...no, she does! The cylon hybrid is all-important...uh, no, it's not...wait, it is!...And now there are two of them! It's like they hit the reset button every other week now. Stir in a bit of goofy-freaky sex (Tigh-Six, Baltar-Tori, Baltar-everyone), a dash of pop religion, and some healthy dollops of angst and simmer.

But, whatever, it's y'all's talkback. For me, the show began its stall with the Watchtower Four and hasn't yet found a way to break the dive. If they reset Starbuck-and-Leoben AGAIN tonight as suggested, expect more of the same. Hey, X-Files had a great run for awhile there too.
BSG best show on tv?
by mach6
May 2nd, 2008
02:01:11 PM
Nonsense. Two seasons ago, I would have agreed, but now? It's the most boring hour of television this side of American Idol. Those still giving BSG its weekly rim job must enjoy watching paint dry, or get their post-pubescent rocks off watching clumsy simulated sex and hearing the word "Frak!" over and over, because they believe that makes the show "edgy".

Not only is this show insufferably boring now, I've grown to hate every single human character on BSG--every one of them is a depressing, self-loathing a-hole with no redeeming qualities. My only reason to watch it now is the vain hope that the Cylons will put every last one of them out of their fucking misery. 'Course, I know this won't happen, since the final double-fisted fuck you from RDM will be the bullshit revelation that the Humans and Cylons are brothers under the skin, progeny of the 12 Lords of Kobol, and all will have been for nothing.
Still haven't watched last weeks ep.

BSG has never been the same since the writers threw out the plot at the end of season 2. I've watched the show on and off since then, hoping that they'd pick up the plot threads they dropped earlier on, to no avail. To answer a question posted above me, there's pretty much nothing good on American TV. Until it went off the air a little while ago, The Wire was one show that was head and shoulders above BSG. Consistent characterization, good acting and long cohesive plot arcs.

You really can't jump into the middle of the Wire. To get a decent idea of what's going on, you have to watch each season from the start, or better yet, just watch the whole series from season 1 on. It's not an easy show to get into, but it's very intricate and well written; takes some time to pick up on it though, which is likely why it was never a hit.

The Wire was an ensemble piece, it jumped around the city of Baltimore trying to get a look at the city's long decline from more than one angle. However, while each season can stand as almost a show on its own, the story all ends up tying together in season 5, as the cops try to bring down the successors to the Barksdales, which brings them into contact with the drug running network working out of the port, the kids from season 4 who've grown up to be dealers, and so on. It's not as tight a plot as you'd expect from something more focused like BSG (So, Mister Moore...what's the Cylon "plan" again? You know, that thing you've mentioned in the opening credits for 3 whole seasons?) but it all comes together, slowly but surely.

So you get bored with Lost, because there's no "splosions", just babble, yet BSG is the best sci fi "evar"? Where is the sci-fi in BSG? Oh, I know they're on space ships in some far-off region of space, but from where I sit, BSG is just a boring soap opera -- there's no "splosions", just babble, and the same babble every friggin' week. I don't get how you can say that Lost is boring, but BSG is not. Clue me in, please.

03:18:47 PM
But I have watched every episode of BSG, from the miniseries to now, so it isn't because I'm starting now that I think the show is boring. Seasons 1 & 2 were incredible, and definitely worthy of the title as best show on television, but as has been pointed out elsewhere in this talkback, season 3 is where it began to go down hill when they jettisoned the original plot for the ridiculous rambling and pointless story arcs they have now.

Now that the line between Human and Cylon has been blurred beyond all recognition, and there's barely anything left of the original plot, what's left to care about in BSG as the showrunners attempt to stretch the quest for Earth for yet another season, by filling each episode with the same empty dialog by asshole characters, and nonsensical plot contrivances? It makes me sad that a show that was once so good could turn so crappy so quickly.

At the very least, shows like CSI and Bones provide multi-dimensional characters, and writing that isn't afraid to interject a little humor into it once in a while. The characters of BSG are all one-dimensional assholes, and every week its the same thing:

Starbuck: a self-loathing smart ass who's only happy when she's 'frakking', or saying 'frak' every other word';
Adama: is a self-loathing career officer weighed down by responsibility, and torn between duty and honor;
Lee: a self-loathing pussy who can't follow through on anything he does;
Roslin: a self-loathing bureaucrat with a Moses complex;
Chief Tyrol: a self-loathing human/Cylon who's too stupid to know a good thing when he had it;
Col. Tigh: a self-loathing drunk and waste of a human/Cylon life;
Gaius Baltar: a nihilistic opportunist who's only skill seems to be nailing a different broad every week.

Say what you will about shows like CSI or Bones, they at least entertain, and give something different each week, instead of the same depressing characters with the same depressing story week after week. If I had to live with these people day in and day out, I would have spaced myself a long time ago.

It's actually hilarious on a pathetic level - they hated Moore's show from day one yet NEVER MISS AN EPISODE so they can go online and trash it. All because of their nostalgia for a shitty cancelled 70's series.

I don't even understand how anyone could not be digging this darker side of BSG. What did people expect? Happy human killing cylons and finding Earth so they could party all night? This is a dark show. The characters are losing their souls, or trying to find something to hold onto. This is all going to go down hill before it gets better, if it ever does.

You're not the only one loving the darkness of this season. This is definitely shaping up to be one of the show's best seasons, imo. Considering their situations, it would be unrealistic to me if the characters didn't fall deeper into despair. I applaud them for not throwing in humor just to lighten the mood for the viewers. Makes the whole thing seem more credible. There is humor here, too, but minus the Baltar/HeadBaltar scene, it's been pretty low key, which is exactly how I like it.

On CSI???? That is freaking hilarious. Watching CSI is like watching Scooby Doo. You already know that the outcome of every episode. You just have to figure out who did it, and why, like a fucking game of Clue. Each episode is like a Hardy Boys novel. You know that the cops will start off politely, but at some point, will go hard-nosed with the bad guy. I liked that show more 30 years ago when it was called "Quincy, M.E.".

That was the last of the Tyrol/Baltar scene. Baltar took Tyrol's hand, then said "Thank you". That was it, you didn't miss anything. But you're right on about Helo and Athena being hypocritical. I really think they're doing a good job with Helo's character though, I like the direction they're taking with him, being completely torn between sticking up for Starbuck, walking a thin line with the cylon-bashing for Athena's sake, and protecting everyone else. He seems to have a full plate.

Am I going to have to carry this post all alone? Oh well, ok. The one thing I don't like about what they're doing right now is keeping the show topics segregated. For example, last week, the only thing we saw was what was going on with the Galactica crew and Baltar. No Starbuck, no basestar. The week before that, it was all about Callie and the Watchtower 4, no Baltar and no basestar. This week, it's all about Starbuck and Baltar, no Galactica crew (Roslin and Adama), and no basestar. I'd prefer it if they would at least offer a few minutes of each situation per episode, just to keep it all fresh in our minds.

I can't believe anyone is actually trying to defend this exceptionally shitty episode. 45 minutes of watching and WHAT happened? Hmm, let's see-- Starbuck and crew took aboard a Cylon...his docked ship exploded...the crew is so tired that they staged a mutiny. The End. Oh yeah! And mind you, that would be a dramatic mutiny that we KNEW was coming from last week's promo. And lamest of all, it was over in a snap of the fingers.

Seriously, even if you love BSG, in terms of TV production you just cannot deny that this crapfest was the very DEFINITION of a Filler Episode where B-Characters are put center stage (to save on A-star salaries) AND even worse it also becomes an all-talking episode because someone in the production chain of command likewise decreed that the show needed to trim the budget some way, somehow.

For crying out loud, from the previous week's episode I knew the crew was tired and cranky...what, I needed 45 minutes to show them being in even fouler moods??? Seriously, here's an editing tip: the show opens and shows us the crew having frayed nerves...the Cylon ship appears, transmits its message that it wants to dock and offer a truce...it no sooner does that then the ship explodes (there's no need to even kill the girl)...and NOW everyone is frakkin' pissed off and they mutiny. Gee, that took all of 10 minutes. But since there were 35 more to fill, we now get a snoozefest.

I got everyone I needed to know FROM last week's promo. I could have saved an hour of my life and NOT watched this and still NOT have missed a single story point. Fuck, I can already tell from THIS week's promo what OBVIOUSLY happens next: Helo orders Gaeta to call security to take Starbuck away...Anders will pull a gun and shoots Gaeta in the leg...with his gun pulled, my guess is he and Starbuck will escape off the bridge and get on a ship (or the crew will say "Just leave already!"...and OBVIOUSLY from the promo Starbuck makes it to the Basestar here the Hypbrid will tell her the cryptic message "You're really the Harbinger of Death leading them to their end."

I swear, if next week's episode literally ENDS on that same fucking note, from now on I'll just watch the promos since in 30 seconds they tell you EVERYTHING you need to know at this point. I'm sorry, I basically like BSG, but this show is SERIOUSLY treading water right now to buy time. This thing is dragging BAD...

Donkey Balls. This show and I have defended it for years, has officially entered SUCK FACTOR. Ron D. Moore obviously has gone mental. This season is by far the WORST out of all four. It seems like EVERY FUCKING EPISODE is filler with two minutes of action, where in the old seasons it was mulithreaded story arcs. You can totally tell this is all the pre strike shit that they rushed and that they had no FX budget. I mean, a fucking WAR has erupted between the Cylon and we get, what, TWO FUCKING MINUTES? And why was RAZOR mysteriously pulled from the shelves and no one can watch it on download? JUMPED THE SHARK. I, a longtike fan, am officially no longer on board. What WAS going on there? What's Baltar really trying to achieve with Chief? Does he even know, or is he just blindly following Head!Six's "guidance"? And is Tyrol about to go the Tory route and embrace his inner-cylon? That was by far the most puzzling part of the episode for me (I mean that in a good way, b/c with the Starbuck plot, I was just waiting for the inevitable mutiny the whole time).
Not that different, pacing wise.

Sorry, unintentional ENTER. So yeah, I love this show. But. Apollo's a bore. Making Tigh a Cylon has destroyed his character. Baltar's a bore. Starbuck is a mentally-deranged bore who needs to make up her mind whether or not she "likes" Cylons. Helo is a puss. Gaeta is a puss. Dualla = MIA. Blanders is, well, bland. Roslin should shoot somebody or something. The Old Man REALLY needs to take charge of his crew. The Cylons REALLY need to track down the Imperious Leader and have him get them back to something remotely resembling villains. And will someone please tell the Demetrius crew to TOWEL OFF?!

One minute Athena and Helo were the biggest Cylon supports, they even prevented the military from using chemical warfare to eliminate the Cylons for good. Next minute, they stage a mutity against Starbuck, for trusting the Cylons. But it isn't the first time someone on this show acted way out of character for dramatic purposes only. Still, loving this season though.

by obi_juan
May 3rd, 2008
09:31:25 AM
I agree with Lord Haw Haw about the character of Tigh being destroyed. Tigh being a Cylon also destroyed the Cylons for me. Remember how there used to be rules to who could and who could not be a Cylon? In order to make Tigh a Cylon all that got chucked out the window. Tigh was a hard ass grizzled war vet who liked to drown his sorrows and had an absolute hatred of the Cylons. To be consistent with the character he wouldn't just go about his business upon finding out he's a skinjob, he would have put a bullet in his head to protect the crew from himself. And then there should have been a later ep where he wakes up in a resurrection tank. But no. Instead the show decided to be full on lame and as zooch mentions in a comment, give him amnesia just as just about every other character has.

What BSG, the first season of Heroes and Lost have done is raise the bar for sci-fi shows, which can only mean good things for us the viewer. As we the sci-fi watching video game playing generation grew up we started to wield the full power of a generation with money to spend and expectations we wanted fulfilled. Also, its our fellow generation who are making these shows now and will soon be the ones in charge of making programming decisions. I think it only gets better from here, I expect to see some really top notch shows in addition to the current pioneers in the future. Lastly I would like to say that I think this season of BSG isnt like the others, its different. There is no hope anymore, the people are on the verge and they are all loosing it. When the show began, they had anger and revenge to motivate them. Then it was survival, what do they have now? Nowhere to go, over worked, stressed, just loosing their damn minds. I think this season is capturing that perfectly. I cant wait to see what they have in store for us. And one more thing, as much as I love BSG and I do indeed love it. It is no match for Lost, in my opinion the greatest show I have ever watched. Never been anything like it, though I do imagine youre going to see some pretenders down the road.

by I Hope You Die

She's always been willing to side against the Cylons to get the crew to accept her. It was Helo, not her, who stopped them from using biological weapons against the Cylons. If you'll recall, when he talked to Athena about it, she said she wouldn't oppose it because she'd worked too hard to be accepted. She's consistently turned her back on the Cylons. The only time she went against the crew was to get Hera back. Helo's not out of character either; he's always been about trying to do the right thing. He's trying to support Kara, support the crew, and defend Athena against the anti-Cylon rhetoric. He didn't support the mutiny until he thought she'd crossed the line. The guy's always been like that. I think they were both in character this week. I thought the episode itself was pretty tedious though.

Word on the street is that the Final Five Cylons can't resurrect and don't have duplicates. I don't know how people know this but it's a fairly popular belief. Even if it's true, I am wondering why the Final Five (4/5ths of them anyway) haven't ever discussed the possibility of coming back from the dead in a resurrection ship or about the duplicate copies of themselves. There may not be any and they can't resurrect but as of yet they don't know that.

I love how in "LOST", everyone whined and complained because the writer's didn't spend time showing Claire mourning after "Greatest Hits". Well, Cally was killed in BSG, and the BSG writers *ARE* spending time showing Tyol in mourning and angst, and now idiots are crying about "filler". And it's obvious that Moore is setting up Baltar and Lee for bigger things. If Baltar just got a massive rockstar cult out of nowhere in the 10th episode, fans would be complaining about the lack of buildup and continuity. So there haven't been alot of space battles yet... who cares, there will be alot in the final 10 episodes in 2009.

How can any of the recent 4 cylons resurrect into the cylon fleet if the cylons have no idea as to who the final five are? Since they don't know who the five are, they don't have any bodies for them to resurrect to.

Story development is one thing, but dragging out a 10 minute story into 40 minutes is stretching the love of even the most hardened fan. Instead of stretching out a thin storyline, why didn't they just include a couple more subplots.... it's not as if they don't have the spare characters!!

Love BSG, been loving this season, no complaints...

Until this episode. Clunky, exposition heavy, pointless explosion of cylon raider, dramaless build-up to mutiny (how do you suck the drama out of a mutiny? Somehow they did), even Leoben was boring (how do you make Leoben boring? Somehow they did).

Then "to be continued." WTF? And end point in mind for the series has apparently been somewhat of a challenge for the seemingly unlimited talent of Ron Moore. The need to drive the story forward is coming MASSIVELY at the expense of the characters, in a show that is character driven.

DEXTER

Hell, SUPERNANNY is fucking better, currently. I said CURRENTLY.

This season is still too young to write off totally, but, so far, I'm unimpressed. Sure, I was glad to see Cally get deep-space-sixed, but all that has led up to is yet another morose, conflicted, whiny character, pouting for a couple of weeks (yeah, I'm looking at you Chief). Now, with Starbuck a loon, every-single-body is a cry-baby? I don't particularly want to see any of them survive anymore.

Don't get me wrong, I'm in it to the end, and I'm not advocating "A Very Special Episode" where they all sing and dance and make up cute nicknames for each other. It's just that Spring has arrived, and I'm bored with all the seasonal depression already.

It would have been a tired, predictable roundabout if they had to go through the whole 'we can't trust you, you're a Cylon!" Again. The episode didn't need it, it would have slowed things down even further, and what would have been the conclusion? Athena proves herself AGAIN and they accept her AGAIN, and the plot doesn't move forward any.

I didn't mind this ep, but I do want there to be something solved/wrapped up/concluded with Starbuck's mission. I does seem to be dragging.

On the other hand, Tyrol's metamorphosis this ep was fascinating to watch. That fat bastard is actually a pretty talented actor. Each scene he was in was under heavy pressure, I was just waiting for him to explode the whole time.

It's like the Geico Cavemen all of a sudden started watching BSG. All you see here is "Too much talking, too much mystical stuff, we need more 'splosions. And stuff." The series has gotten very grim and dark, everyone is losing hope, and they feel they're not making any progress. The fact that these sentiments are shared by the viewers should tell you that the writers have done their job pretty well. I have little doubt that this thing will go from zero to ninety at a moment's notice. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the build-up just fine.

I thought that Tyrol and Adama's little interaction in the bar was pretty intense and top-notch, and I am really digging the Helo involvement. I also like where they're going with Tyrol. You don't know if he's going to snap and go dark side on everyone, or if he'll see the light eventually. Also, it's becoming apparent that the only really decent person left in the fleet is Baltar. He seems to have actually genuinely become a decent person, while Roslin has become a tyrannical dictator. Love the role reversal.

Last night's episode about Crazy captain Starbuck and her crew of the Damned had me gagging, why has her crew lost faith after 2 weeks of hardship?, they just survived nuclear Armageddon they should be used to tough situations by now.

Helo's betrayal stung though ti was the only sharp episode point for me, it felt like the show overall, listing without purpose and just trying to wind everything up, in a fit it all together way.

I stopped caring around the time they where on New Caprica as everyone started acting weird and the characterisation never recover from then, for me.

Remember when BSG was must see TV?, now its can't see TV as its all shot in the dark.

by I Hope You Die

I'm surprised nobody is really picking up on this but last weeks "perfection speech" was instigated by Tory's comments to Baltar about perfection and this week Baltar's interaction with Tyrol was set-up by Tory. She both got Tyrol to attend and told Baltar he hadn't managed to reach anyone important yet and that was why he wasn't on Roslins radar, causing him to reach out to Tyrol. She seems to have almost taken over the role of in-head Six. Perhaps she killed Cally for the effect it'd have on Tyrol as much as anything.

The more I think about it, the last two episodes have actually been great in that way, just really subtle. There's also the 'we have slightly super strength' discovery, which is fun from a nerd perspective. I've been keeping an eye on Tory as well, I think what we're seeing is what happens to the final 5 when they accept their natures- each one of them is going through some version of accepting themselves (their 'destinies', perhaps?) with Tory far out ahead of the pack. The only one who isn't metamorphosing is Anders, it seems, though we still don't know what the significance of the raider's eye-scan might be. Maybe the more they come to terms with the fact that they are the final 5, they get that much closer to fulfilling their 'programming', or their 'destinies', whichever you prefer. Let's see if Tigh develops some connection to Baltar...

BSG is not sci-fi

May 4th, 2008
09:12:25 PM
I think it's funny how the die hard BSG fans come down on those who feel justified criticizing the direction of the show by claiming that we must not love sci-fi. Not true. The problem is that BSG ceased to be a sci-fi show somewhere around season 3, when it morphed into a lame soap opera that just happens to take place on a space ship. It is now a hopelessly ineptly written drama, where the characters are all either assholes or whiny bitches, and every scene is filmed in the same dimly-lit warehouse. The sci-fi is limited to the few seconds of cut scenes featuring the exterior of the space ships and the increasingly rare scene of actual space combat (only one scene so far in season 4).

On a side note, why is the civilization that the humans come from capable of building immense space ships, complete with FTL drives, yet they haven't been able to wrap their brains around the simple physics of an air conditioner? This show sucks.

Us 'haters' are people who loved the show the first couple of seasons. Yeah, there were fights, explosions, but there was also A LOT of top-hole character work. You didn't find us complaining then.

Since they left New Caprica, BSG has become a bunch of whiny me-me-me characters sat around moaning at each other. S1+2: sparkling dialogue, fast pace, interesting; S3+4: flat faux-clever dialogue, snail's pace, not interesting. See?

This show has managed to make James Callis' Gaius Baltar BORING - how is this possible?

Ultron, the only thing dark about BSG is the sets, and the only thing worthy of despair is the horrible writing this show has now.

The scenes with Starbuck and her undisciplined and disaffected crew were painfully boring, and did nothing to progress what little there is of this story line--it took 45 minutes to tell us what we already knew: Starbuck is nuts, the crew sweaty and angry. Starbuck lets Leoben aboard, only to tell her nothing useful or reveal anything we haven't already surmised from past episodes. No closer to finding Earth than we were two weeks ago.

The Baltar-turned-Jesus bit has become excruciating to watch as it monopolizes more and more screen time. The sight of him sitting on his throne, dressed in flowing robes surrounded by starry-eyed whores as he babbles feel-good nonsense is unintentionally hilarious, as was Chief Tyrol's half hearted impression of Private Pyle.

This show is a failure.

Thankfully, I'm not tuning into the same show you seem to be watching. Granted, the Starbuck plot is admittedly slow (about as slow as all that Helo/Boomer on Caprica stuff during S-1) and her character seems to be on the verge of disbelief. But the Baltar stuff is fascinating and right on course with what Six has been telling him since Season 1.

Am I the only one who finds the image of him sitting on a "throne" dressed in robes to look strangely like the old-school Imperious Leader?

"This show is a failure." - Utterly ridiculous. And I find your vitriol to be rather misplaced and altogether premature.

The difference between the arc of Boomer/Helo in S1 and now is that at least in S1, we had that bit of drama contrasted by the suspense and action of Galactica being relentlessly pursued by the Cylons. Now, we just get boring/boring.

The stuff with Baltar would be more interesting if this were the ultimate result of a psychotic break from reality, but it isn't. Baltar truly believes his own bullshit, and that makes it all the more ridiculous. The parallel with Gaius Baltar and the Imperious Leader from TOS might make sense, if Baltar were portrayed as any sort of threat here, but he merely comes off (no pun intended) as the laughable leader of an all-female sex cult--hardly a threat, since he himself seems completely uninterested in anything but bedding the next hottie to walk into his tent.

you don't find anything dark about Chief Tyrell? Fer crissakes, he's turning into Private Pyle! As for Baltar, I'm genuinely enjoying his turnaround, and his character seems to be the only one "getting it" (old gods vs singular god).....I don't think he's spouting bullshit, I think he's actually an instrument of God now, and believes it.
Ultron

No, I don't find anything particularly dark about Tyrol, because his behavior is predictably cliche`: His wife murdered and he himself a Cylon, his world has been turned upside down--the best the writers can come up with is to shave his head, and make him walk around all crazy-eyed? :Yawn:

As for Baltar being the only one who "gets it", it's completely illogical and unrealistic. There's no valid reason for Baltar to believe that he is an "instrument of God", unless he'd had a complete break from reality. This would have been the more logical direction; Baltar, having unwittingly been the instrument of Humanity's near annihilation because of his sexual relations with a Cylon, would naturally be paranoid to the point of psychosis due to his guilt. IMO, the "Head Six" was the perfect manifestation of this guilt, and, after this relentless guilt having driven him insane, caused him to believe that he is a prophet from God.

But no. Head Six is not a figment of his guilty conscience at all, but a real being, capable of physically interacting with the material world, though inexplicably, no one but Baltar can physically see or hear her, though they can see her physically manipulate him. To date, no explanation is given for the incongruity this represents, and given the sloppy writing, I doubt one ever will. The direction they're taking Baltar doesn't make any sense; right now, it seems we're meant to sympathize with the person responsible not only for the destruction of the Colonies, but the ill-fated colonization of New Caprica. I don't see how they intend to move this in a more sinister direction, unless Baltar's cult takes on a mind of its own. In which case, Baltar becomes an unwitting pawn once again, victim to his own stupidity.
Hopefully Tigh will bring Baltar back down to Earth ...
