It's only fair right? I mean Bob and Doug were featured on this latest Rush tour, might as well have Geddy on the animated show.

they may have a hard time filling a movie-length flick, but the length of an animated series would be perfect. that roomba bit was awesome, but most of the other stuff had be rolling my eyes a bit. still, it's bob & doug, so i can't resist loving them. fry up some back bacon and pop some cold ones, eh?

That was included on the "special edition" DVD a few years ago? I can't see the vid from my work computer, but I suspect this is the same, or at least an offshoot of the pilot episode that was included in the DVD a few years ago.. It takes them out of Toronto and puts them in a ficticious city just across the border from the US, eh? It wasn't bad, script-wise, but animation could have used some work.. Now, take off you hosers!

Moranis and Thomas basically voice Bob & Doug as moose in that Disney flick a few years back? Brother Bear? Again, nothing is funnier than old SCTV clips and shows (one of my favs, The Sammy Maudlin Show), but you don't see Short reprising Ed Grimly, or whats-iz-name doing Count Floyd just to make a quick buck....BTW, if Stone needs to cast the ghost of Nixon in his Bush movie, Dave Thomas has got the jowls for the job.

coke lobster is pretty funny. unfortunately, as an old school doug and bob fan (i loved strange brew as a kid.. i thought it worked in movie form) i see my interest in the show going something like this: i excitedly catch the first episode. i enjoy it mildly. then for no good reason i never watch it again.

yep, thats how these things work.

I'm all for a Bob and Doug animated show, but the animation here is the kind of half-assed, mediocre, flash animated stuff you find on most of Cartoon Networks shows. such a wasted opportunity.

William B (the late John Candy), Sammy Maudlin, Earl Camembert, Lola Heatherton, Bob Hope, et al; all gold. I still lament the demise of the series; the same network, which insisted on its cancellation, gave full liberty for SNL to turn into the living corpse that it is today.

there was a false report a few months ago that rick moranis had past away...i don't rmember it ever being disproven, it just sort of faded away...now they have a new show that is unnessesarly animated and morranis wasn't even in the intro video

in fact has anyone seen morranis in anything or interviews in the last few months?

now that you mention it... no.... but still -- how (and why) would such a thing be hidden? if he truly was dead, that would naturally *boost* interest in a project like this, no?

Why does anyone have anything against Rick Moranis? My understanding is he dropped out of movies because he was so heartbroken after his wife died. The dude's hilarious. I want a reason for all this Moranis-hating, besides "he refused to sign my autograph" or some b.s. like that. You have to personally know him, and he had to do something seriously heinous for anyone to speak of him in such a manner.

...a sequel a few years after Strange Brew. I guess the box office figures were crappy (I dunno why, it was HUGE when it came out here, but we all LOVE Canucks here.), but did it ever have legs, huh? Talk about a cult following. All through the 90's, I noticed that just about everyone I knew had a VHS (retail or copy) of the movie. Plus, all the stars in it...

This does look sub-standard for animation, but the humor seems adult enough. I still think another feature-length film would go over fairly well, if shot for under $60M. I SO still love Strange Brew.

Wow, great to see Dave Thomas again, I haven't seen him on the tube since his cameo in the last season of Arrested Development. For anyone too young to remember SCTV, the likes of Tina Fey and Judd Apatow owe a hell of a lot to that incredibly talented crew, at least for all the inspiration, and they know it.

Oh, and for all of those who don't hate Rick Moranis, because they went off their meds this morning, I highly recommend his great country-western comedy album from'05 "The Agoraphobic Cowboy."

Why Flash animation?
by Quake II
Apr 30th, 2008

The art and character design is decent but the movements with Flash just look cheap. I've never liked Flash animation BUT if the show is funny I eventually won't even notice the cheapness (ala South Park).
Flash animation...
by hillvalley
Apr 30th, 2008
01:21:07 PM
...can be used effectively, but the material and art direction have to suit the medium. Homestar Runner knows how to use flash appropriately. Because their character designs are limited, the animation doesn't seem so limited. Too often though, like what I saw here, the animator goes for a "hand-drawn" look. The art direction here is nice but is betrayed when they're limbs and head flail about like paper dolls.
