Hopefully this (along with Indy) will be an oasis of old-school movie thrills amidst the CG setpiece junk of the summer.

Ready to take a trip back to the 90's... a time when Fox WAS the X-Files and the Simpsons... a time when gas was $1.70 a gallon... a time when the future writers of ABC's LOST were looking for something to rip off! All I can say is, "Please don't suck. Please don't suck. Please don't suck..."

becoming my most anticipated movie of the Summer. It's strange how each episode was better than most of the crap they have in theaters these days. Making a series of movies makes the most sense.

Managed to catch 6 episodes of this on the TV Choice menu on Virgin TV (gone now, though). It was actually quite atmospheric and involving. Nice bridge between THE X-FILES and SUPERNATURAL. The girl was Gabrielle Union, who is extremely easy on the eyes.

...and the show was good, it deserved to last on its own merits BUT the Carl Kolchak we know and love it wasn't, and that alienated a lot of old time horrror tv fans. They tried to justify the huge changes they made, but basically they didn't understand the spirit of the original.

unless they solve the AlienInvasion-Problem, I dislike the Idea of watching and even paying any X-Files-related movie/special. As for solving that X-Files - Main-Problem, a Sattelite, with a powerful Ray-Beam-Canon should be enough to solve it, but I really doubt, that they actually correct that Movie1-Mistake.

Who is Clyde Brackman, and what episode/line is he talking about when he said "Will we ever find out what Clyde Brackman meant when he said “you don’t”?"?
Anyone? It's been too long since I've watched any X-Files, lol.

Episode: Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose. He was a psychic who told Scully of how she would die: "You don't." As for Mulder: "Auto-erotic asphyxiation."

I need a full-time editor or at least for this sickness to be gone. If anyone went to the con, you'll be familiar with this. On Sunday they wanted to really drown out the smell of nerd with a purer atmosphere, so they turned the AC way up. I had the privilege of standing right underneath the fans as I waited in line. Two hours later, sore throat and dizziness. I've noticed people coughing rows away from me at the panels, so it doesn't seem like I was alone in the pleasure. By the time I got home, it was in full effect. Three days and counting. But that's beside the point. They're definitely enthusiastic about this movie and are hoping to make it big with the fans. I think the main reason with the standalone story was to make it seem different from the film film. This one is supposed to be more of a "scary story" in the vein of the X-Files "monster of the week". However, as this is a movie, I think it's safe to expect some character development as well. The trailer was literally as I had it taken down ("snow, mystery, snow...") and really didn't give away any one thing in particular. It looked damn good though and very traditionally "X-Files". If you're worried about the film being mis-marketed, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Both Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz seemed exceptionally confident and proud of it. Thank you for the corrections, fans, time for edits!
oh, and also

The "first film", sorry. I wish I had taken down the last few fanfic questions, as Chris Carter handled them really well. There wasn't anything exceptionally strange, but it was still interesting to see someone so appreciate of the fans.

I'm really looking forward to the movie but what a bad title. should have called it X-Files:Re-Opened. I bet the title fox wanted is prob better. also why didn't anyone ask why doggette, reyes and skinner aren't in the movie and will we find out at least what the fates of those characters were? because that was a cop out in the last ep.
skinner's fate?

since the FBI get mulder and scully's help, i assume there will be some conversation about skinner if not a cool cameo. i mean last time they saw him he was still the A.D. and they have no clue what we saw so i'm sure at the very least, his name will come up even if its a quick "update". i guess they could also update on doggett and reyes but skinner would be the more important one.

then I hope FOX tries to make a real spin-off, with new agents, if only to repair some of the damage done to the mythology in time for the (potential) 3rd movie. It can be done.

What did you expect? Handouts of a DVD workprint for you to take home and review personally? XF2 panel was there for fans to meet the creators, same as the BSG panel. And, same as XF2, the BSG panel didn't reveal the 5th Cylon, nor did the actors discuss Starbucks return, but the fans did seem to have a blast getting to see Col. Tigh in person.

At least, that's how I always read it. And Mulder definitely goes out like the dude from INXS. These points do not have to ever be addressed again in the X-Files mythology, be it more movies or TV shows, but thats how I'll always believe how it ends.
