And by Lucas-ized, I mean, say, the pic that's on that "10 new images" site linked above with Ford and Blanchett, with the prequel-fakey backdrop. No Indy film should fake an outdoors shot like that--what kind of exotic setting could a film like this not afford to do in real life? Ford looks 20 years younger in that whip photo! I did a double-take that it was really a new shot. And even though I'm not going into this film wanting to see Shia, everything around him does seem appropriate and period-correct. Indy, Iron Man, Dark Knight, Hellboy, another Harry Potter and Narnia film, and probably more that I'm forgetting...this could be a geek year for the ages, folks! One to rival the early-to-mid-80s heydays!

It's one of those films that I can't avoid, so I'll definitely see it one of these days. From what I've heard it sounds like a train wreck, but it could be fun despite itself the way Con Air was. The reason I avoided Transformers in the first place wasn't because of my reverence for the source material (I enjoyed the show as a kid but only revisited it once many years ago for the sake of ironic nostalgia), but my dislike of Michael Bays's films. I still haven't forgiven him for Armageddon.

I was reading an article over at CHUD regarding the length of this film and of course all the elitist cumstains over there are "worried" or have "reservations" about this film, even though nobody knows jack-shit about it save three minutes of footage and some random screen shots. The truth is that quite a few people have already made up their mind about what this film is going to be and no amount of quality will change that. Even Mori, who I usually like, acted like a douche regarding that teaser. I just wish all these negative, told-you-so assholes would stay the fuck away from this film rather than spread their misery to the four corners of the internet. Seriously, the only respite some of these people will ever get from their own joyless lives is the sweet embrace of death.

It was co-directed by Paul Verhoeven. And I'll say it again. If you cynical fucks don't have a hard on for this movie then what the fuck are you doing here? Maybe some of you are too young to have even seen an Indy film, that's my only hope. Because Ford looks awesome, the plot sounds awesome, it's going to be 140 minutes long (they'll probably shave that, I doubt they're finished editing) and IT'S FUCKING INDIANA JONES! Something most of us would ever think would happen again. So the CGI is a little dodgy. There are matte painting and blue screen shots that looked like shit in the originals. Did we care? And enough with the shit about Lucas. He wrote the story, which was re-written by 2 more guys and he's the producer, who does the hiring and handles the budget. God or bad, it's Spielberg's film. And Lucas is Spielberg's bitch. So don't blame the CGI on Lucas. It's fucking Indiana Jones. God you people suck.

(NOTE:This was posted in another thread as well, so apologies to those reading it twice) I swear, so many of you people claim to be movie fans, yet all you do is go into these threads and say how much a movie is going to suck, you hate films before they come out. The only true way to judge a film is to see it, but there are so many arrogant idiots on here who think they know more about movies than the rest of us. A movie comes out, you see it, you don't like it, fine. But so many of these so called "fans" have already decided that a movie is going to suck, that even when they do see it, they are going to hate it, because if they wind up liking it they look like dumbasses for saying how it was going to suck, or they have convinced themselves so much that it was gonna suck thats all they see. So many of you call yourselves movie fans, but you are nothing close to it. You hate certain directors, writers, actors, whatever and have preconcieved notions of anything they do instead of giving things a chance. I am not in anyway saying that most of the people on AICN are like this, quite the opposite in fact, but it is this small group of idiots that make me sick, and gives movie fans, movie nerds, movie geeks, whatever you call yourself, a bad name.

most are full of BS. They will be there to see the movie. Some will like it. Some won't. Also, some of us that are excited about it will be unhappy with what happened on the big screen. Hating is just a way of getting attention. Easy to do.

Warehouse, jugle, temple, or Shia on the bike. More or less those are the only scenes Spielberg wants us to see just yet. Spielberg has always be serious about the tease in teaser, particularly with Indiana Jones. Remember the "trust me" commercial for Temple of Doom, or the teaser for Last Crusade that featured behind the scenes shots. Spielberg is a big believer in surprises, and I gotta admit that in his case I do prefer it when they are surprises. I was floored when Elsa turned out to be a bad girl or when the boy scout turned out to be Indiana Jones and not the guy dressed like him. Okay, not major surprises, but it's part of the fun. Not something interent movie geeks are used to though.
