It is a period of civil war. Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire.

During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet.

Pursued by the Empire's sinister agents, Princess Leia races home aboard her starship, custodian of the stolen plans that can save her people and restore freedom to the galaxy...

Sounds interesting...but where's Earth? Dammit!

New Theory...
by SKULL1138
Apr 18th, 2008
07:22:08 AM
I posted a Theory on the last BSG talkback, but I ahve another...

I reckon that they are all Cylons...Let em explain.

I think the FInal 5 are the original models of cylons that were either banished from earth or left Earth for soem reason, they created the other 7 models and then Cylons eveolved a stage further to creat a race almost identical ti Humans, so much so that these new Cylons actually thought they were humans, they then created the Toaster cylons themselves, the 7 models had their memories of all this wiped and were programmed bnot to think about the original 5, they took over the Toasters and limited their AI so they would be almost slave like and plotted the destruction of the Humans (Evolved Cylons)

The final Cylon and leader of them all placed the other 4 we have just discovered into the Human society as a way to protect them and make sure they survive, the Toasters recognise this and thus will not folow the ones who wish to destroy the humans and lobotomise the Toasters.

In the end they will realise the reason no tests can be created to tell the difference between Cylon and Human is because the genetic make up is exactly the same, they are just more advanced Cylons.

The Final Cylon along wiht he awakkened other 4 will reveal all this by the end of this series, probably as they get to earth, and at that point they will either discover a society of fully integrated Cylons/Humans, or they will find their Human creators and set about destroying them as revenge for exiling them into the stars.

Evidence - How can a Cylon and a Human have a Baby if they are a different species, this has happened twice already (Tyrrol is a Cylon)

GOD - the one true God they refer to is the Final Cylon Leader, what is a god if not the being that creates a species?

I am relaly starting to think now that this all makes sense that this War was completely pointless, but perhaps necessary for some ultimate goal of the Final Cylon that we are not aware of, perhaps thats why Strbuch although not the final Cylon can be downloaded into another body identical.

I also think that is why Baltar survived the attack on caprixca and how he can talk to both himself and six, because it is a side effect of the download process. Perhaps Baltar as disliked as he is will be the link to revelaing everything, perhaps it si even the final Cylon/God that is talking directly with Baltar/Six although appearing as someone they already know.

Thoughts?

Totally wrong?

This series has so many dropped plot lines and plot holes it's ridiculous. What ever happened to the 'special' love child between a Cylon and a Human? Guess now that chief is a cylon, and he and Cally have a kid, that wasn't such a big deal. Or has that kid disappeared too. And what about Richard Hatches' character? He sort dropped off the face of the fleet. They whole finding an alternative home planet thing (and the three year jump in time) felt like shark jumping, frankly. Just another excuse to comment on the 'current administration and Iraq.' We all know how Hollywood types love those story lines, never mind that it doesn't make a lick of sense. I mean, why would a race nuke the willys out of another race's home planet, and then conveniently decide to change policy once they found them. I would think an enemy robot race would just take them out and be done with it. They seem to change their minds more than a woman in a clothing store. And let's not get started on the whole mumbo-jumbo metaphysical crap going on. I suppose we'll all be Cylons in the end. ‘Oh, were just like them and they’re just like us!’ jeeze. Some sort of BS esoteric non-sense. Here's an idea, why not tell a straight-up sci-fi story where all the plot lines have a purpose, and earth isn't just some maguffin. And please, please, no cheesy flying motorcycles! I loved this series when it started, but I’m quickly losing hope for it.

Have faith. To some, the show may seem to be stuck in Lost-style limbo, full of plot holes, mischaracterizations, and forgotten storylines, but some of us have seen Moore's Deep Space Nine. The final season, and chiefly, the final seven episodes of DS9 were nothing short of fucking incredible. Every major theme and overarching plotline or characterization in the _series_ had an episode that capped off the arc perfectly. I remember watching the series as it aired. When the commercials came on talking about "the final seven episodes of Deep Space Nine!" I wondered how it would be possible to wrap up the series in that short a time. Moore didn't just avoid disappointment, he completely blew away every expectation I had as to how the series would end.

If we didn't know that there were only like 17 episodes left this would be a pretty good episode. Lots of stuff happens but unfortunately because I know that the end is coming (although probably not until next year. grrr) all these complications are frustrating. The end wasn't totally unexpected but was sad to see that happen. More questions and more difficulties hiding the truth.

On another note I noticed that both Helo and Athena were on the ship with Starbuck. Does that mean their kid is too?

Except for the fact that I loved everything up to the end of last season - yes, even the Dylan as cylon Pied Piper headscratcher. The problem this season seems to be seriously muddled writing. Why the fuck is Lee leaving the fleet? Was it ever addressed? What actual confirmation do the Watchtower four have that they are indeed cylons? I don't buy Anders' red-eye "scanning" by the raider as proof positive that all four are skinjobs. I'm tired of these inchoate "feelings" driving the crew to weaker and weaker plotlines. Those four have a "feeling" that they're cylons. Roslyn has a "feeling" about the correct way to Earth. Starbuck has the exact opposite "feeling" about why "THEY'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!" Fuck the "feeling" shit and give me some concrete reasons for why the plot is moving the way it seems to be moving. There are just too many continuity/timeline errors for Tigh and Galen to both be toasters. Plus, why should I give two shits about internal cylon metaphysical bickering? That whole "stop lobotomizing the raiders" coffee break debate in that cheaply lit nightclub that the cylons use as a command center went fucking N-O-W-H-E-R-E. The "final five" mystery seems completely tacked out of the ether. I seriously don't care who the final cylon is. I want the war to be resolved. I want to know why the cylons suddenly "got religion" and changed tactics. I want the fleet to find Earth. Everything else is bullshit.
Apparently not.

The Cable on the Beach. Explained. The Hatch. Explained. The Others. Explained. The Numbers, Smokey, and the Skeletons? Bigger mysteries which will certainly be dealt with in S5-6.

I have no idea why Helo and Athena went with Starbuck. Anders makes sense, so does Gaeta, since he is the FTL travel expert, but why send Helo (the CAG now that Apollo left) and Athena. Guess the writers could not think of anything else for those characters to do.

I must say, I am really loving S4's writing. And no one, not even the writer's, have ever suggested that the "Final Five" are typical toasters. They are certainly "different" from the other 7 models. I have a feeling they may be singular individuals. And who's to say Tigh DIDN'T fight in the first Cylon war? I wouldn't be surprised if the Final Five pre-date the birth of the Cylons...

That show is total garbage, through and through. Ooh, the 4th season is THE BEST YET!!!! They explain EVERYTHING!!!! The finishline is in sight, so it's all planned out and all the pieces are falling into place!!! Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. It's just more stopgap, on the fly explanations to keep the mainstream audience dialed in. It's a show about tramping back and forth across a giant magical island, where EVERY fucking conversation is started when one character sticks a gun in the face of another character. Oh, the drama. And where if the castaways just got together and had one giant beach summit where they actually finished conversations with one another, all of the so-called "mysteries" would be over. Macguffin after macguffin after macguffin.

Rewatch the last three or four episodes of the third season to answer most of your questions. Lee has left the Galactica due to his resignation during Baltar's trial. Particularly due to the scene where Admiral Adama called him a traitor and a liar for defending Baltar.

As far as the four sleeper cylons go, RDM has stated that the fourth season will change our idea of what a cylon is. The popular theory is that we'll learn that cylons were invented prior to the exodus from Kobol, and that the citizens of the Twelve Colonies are the descendants of the original cylons and the refugees from Kobol.

As far as a resolution to the conflict between the two fleets, and finding Earth, refer to my post above about RDM's final season of DS9. History has shown that RDM _WILL_ provide a denoument to the show that will satisfy all of your questions. Just give him time, and enjoy the ride.

And while I'm here, I'll take the opportunity to tweak Ashok0. From what I understand, J.J. Abrams _didn't_ give the fans of Alias much of a denoument in that show. I'm far more convinced of RDM's ability to close out BSG with a win than with Abram's ability to finish Lost without screwing the fans.

Actually I hate to break it to you but JJ Abrams has virtually nothing to do with LOST. LOST is being helmed by a different man, Damon Lindeloff AKA God.

And unlike Alias, LOST S4 really does answer everything in a highly logical fashion. It is planned out to the very end, and the pieces really are falling into place like an intricate jigsaw puzzle. And "The Constant" remains one of the strongest hour of television I have ever seen. Period.

Forgotten Season three already? He left the military because he didn't agree with Baltar's sentence and his dad as admiral wouldn't let him do anything about it. Then he just told you in the last episode why he's leaving - he thinks he can make more of a difference in politics than in the cockpit.

"What actual confirmation do the Watchtower four have that they are indeed cylons?" Um...they all heard the same song and were drawn to the same room on the Galactica? I know I'd take that as a pretty big indicator.

Lee leaving, and Bill letting him leave, makes perfect sense. Lee indeed is a good pilot, but Bill knows that the only reason he enlisted was because his dad wanted him to. Combine the issue with Zak Adama, plus the whole Starbuck thing, and you can understand the issues he feels as a guilt-tripped father just trying to make things 'right' for his kids, biological or "adopted".

i've read lots of theories in the new version saying that humans and cylons are the same race and they got me thinking about the original show. when i first started watching bsg i kept waiting for the new version of Imperious Leader to show up. There are re-imagined versions of most every other central character from the original show (for a while there was no Athena, but then sharon took on the name) and it seemed only natural that they would include the main baddy from the old show and yet we still haven't seen him. is he the final cylon? in the original, cylons were a reptilian race that incorporated cybernetic technology into their physicality and created centurion robots. humans obviously were a completely seperate species in that continuity. Imperious Leader was made to appear to be more like the original reptilian cylons than the other civilian cylons and the cylon heirarchy seemed to be based on those who were closer to the original species lording over those who were more robotic. in the new version, given that most if not all cylons are cyborgs, the heirarchy exists here too, except its the android model lording over the cyborg model. we're also given the knowledge that contemporary earth exists in the same continuity as the new series. there had to be a dylan to write "watchtower" right? the final five's sensitivity to the song leads me to think they are more closely linked to humanity than the other seven android models, and thus higher in the the heirarchy. all of the cylons seem to view the cylon/human hybrid babies as even higher up. so what does that make the hybrid on the basestar? what makes it different from the organic cylon/human kids? they treat it with the same disregard as they do the other more slavish cylons

I think we're seeing something here. Tori's got a dark side. This is what we needed to see. Especially if she's going to Frak Baltar. She's always had a dark side...don't forget she was the one who came up with the idea of rigging the election. Tori may be an evil cylon...which is AWESOME!

She saved the kid. she knew Callie couldn't stick around to reveal their secret, but rather than let Callie put them both out the airlock, she managed to get the kid out of harms way before doing what she had to do. Hey, Callie wanted to die. Let her. But don't punish the kid.

I saw this behind the scenes video on Galactica Sitrep that has a couple spoilers in it (one scene of dialog is fairly spoilery of one of the storylines) http://tinyurl.com/3velyq I'm a bit surprised they let that out. Of course knowing tv the scene immediately after that one reveals that the conversation was totally wrong...

I love both shows, and consider them 2 of the best on TV ever. Why do people feel the need to bash one and praise the other?

Wow. That was a great episode. I can't believe they did that. Still, RDM said that there would be several deaths this season, so, it shouldn't come as a big surprise, given how many of the other second tier characters they've killed over the course of the series. It's kind of funny though. All of Tyrol's deckhands in the miniseries are now dead. And two of them killed via airlock.

I have to say that I agree with DonnaDarko, for the most part. That was a _very_ dark episode. I don't think we can call it the darkest (Flesh and Bone, or Exodus Part 2 anyone?), but it's certainly pretty dark.

Oh, and Node, actions speak louder than words. The producers can polish each other's knobs on the podcast all they want, but I haven't seen shit on the show to convince me otherwise. And again, as history shows, RDM won't disappoint. From what I've heard, Abrams didn't provide a satisfactory end to Alias. So, enjoy your blind, and likely misplaced, faith. I hope it bites you in the ass.

the first two episodes have been fantastic. I think the timeframe of only one season has forced the showrunners to cut all the fat from the story line. Its been very dramatic and compelling, even stronger than Lost so far. *spoiler* Although I don't understand how the one eyed old man could be a cylon? *spoiler* His character has known Adama for years. If one was to claim he was planted all those years ago, how could they possibly know he would become a significant player? Especially when you consider the fact his character was a washed out drunk, only to be luckily given a second chance by Adama.

Ever notice the Cylon Model numbers?
by RyanMurray
Apr 18th, 2008
10:21:03 PM
All the basestar Cylons are models 1 - 6, then Boomer is model number 8. The final five are 7, 9-12. I always found it peculiar that they spaced out the model numbers that way, with the 'final five' actually being split up around model number 7. And then having Boomer/Athena/Eight be programmed to never think of those models that followed her. Or any of the models, 1-6 for that matter. And I don't think you can just chalk it up to "us as the viewers being introduced to them that way" because we knew that Boomer was 8 early on, and Cavil is 1, De'anna is 3, etc.

So, is the 'final' cylon model #7, and thusly the bridge between the seven we currently know, and the four 'how can they be cylons?' cylons? Or is Tigh model #7, thusly more than likely the oldest and the one that has aged the most?

SPOILERS

In regards to the ending of tonights episode, I don't think that the slow-pan over Cally's dead body was any sort of hint. If they wanted you to possibly believe that she was the final cylon, then they wouldn't have shown that shot. I don't really think the future editing will be like 'HEY WE SHOWED YOU THAT CAMERA PAN OF HER CORPSE, NOW WE SHOWED YOU SHE'S ALIVE!' because it's not like they can simply return to a single shot of her being dead, and have it be a shock that she's now alive. The shock would be that she was a cylon, not that they showed her body to make us think she's dead.

This season i've edited a few character spots for BSG, they were all single character spots eg Gaius Baltar Pariah or Prophet? etc. Anyway, when I saw the episodic promos I remember being very surprised at how spoilerific they were.
Callie
by Strabo
Apr 18th, 2008
11:11:11 PM
Callie now joins the ranks of people like Ellen Tigh, Crashdown, Jammer, Kat, and Billy Keikeya. Formerly semi-prominent characters who have died. It's pretty unlikely that any of them are the final cylon. It's much more likely that it's one of the second tier characters who are still alive. Dualla, Gaeta, Zarek, Racetrack, or Cottle. For the final cylon to be one of the dead characters, since they're not in the cylon fleet, they'd have to be in hiding in the Colonial fleet. That's pretty unlikely. Well, that or they'd have to come back by another means...the ships of light, perhaps.

The final possibility is that the final cylon is one of the third tier characters. At that point you're looking at people like Hotdog, the Gunnery Sergeant (I don't even know her name), Seelix, or the medic played by Jamie Bamber's wife. I think it's highly unlikely that it's any of those characters as they'll want to pick a character that the audience picks up on immediately, rather than being left scratching their heads wondering who it could possibly be.

Oh, I had a thought about the current cylon civil war. The entire war was brought about by the deadlock in the vote, and the subsequent defection of Boomer from her model. Currently, we have six cylon models active. The resolution of the civil war will be that D'anna is unboxed to return their numbers to seven, such that there can't be a deadlocked vote, with the additional rule that members of a model may no longer cast independent votes.

I didn't think they'd go there with the reveal in last week's promo, but damn they did. I wish it hadn't been given away. So does Tori suddenly have Cylon strength? Or was that just a good angle for a punch, because Callie went flying. Talk about a suffering character. I mean she went from being the cute, mousy engineer (almost like Kaylee on Firefly) to getting the crap beat out of her by a delusional Chief, to almost being executed by her own people, to being a miserable, abandoned, suffering mother with post-partem and now this. And that kid's going to be so messed up.

And would everyone quit with the 'dropped plot points' complaint? Just because the writers don't get to things on your timetable doesn't mean they've dropped plot points. I'm sure that Athena and Helo's baby has NOT been forgotten, as it's a pretty major part of the series. You can't have every character and every plot point hit every episode. Someone complained about no Zarek. Now we have Zarek. Just be patient, for frak's sake. It's not like this season is dragging so far. Damn! What a set of 3 episodes.

The cylons for the most part, while being excellent schemers, are a young race, and still very naive. The Cavils have always been the most worldly (They are number One, after all) while the Six's and Eight's have often been painted as the most naive/trusting. To me it makes perfect sense that they wouldn't expect Cavil's double-cross. Oh, and I loved this episode. Good riddance, Cally. Glad she didn't take her kid with her. Tory's becoming the most interesting of the Four. Never thought I'd say that. And that superstrength! Something tells me Tory's embracing her Cylon-ness, and when it comes down to the point where she has to pick a side, she's gonna side with the big bad cylons (and not the human-sympathizing cylons). I could be way off there, though.

OK, Can someone help me out with a few things. Somewhere along the way I think BSG got a little lost. 1.) Ok, there was a big push to have Helo and Athena's baby as this big plot point. Now it's just gone. There is also Nicky now who is a hybrid. WTF? It seems like there are going to be all kinds of little hybrid kids running around if this keeps up, why the big deal over the first one? 2.) Seriously, is there any good explanation for Starbuck coming back, unless she is the final Cylon? This is a show that for sci-fi, has tried to ground itself in a sense of reality. I know, I know, I am asking a lot here. But We've already learned that the Vipers have limited Oxygen supplies, can only go short range, and break pretty easily. So she is crushed due to high gravity, her viper explodes, she is able to find her way back to the fleet after at least three FTL jumps. WTF? Can we just out her as the final cylon and move on? 3.) By the way, why is it that all the worst Cylon haters and members of the resistance are all now Cylons? Does that just seem weak to anyone else, or is it just me? 4.) WTF happened to Boomer? She was one of the Cylons pushing for working with the humans the most, now she's talking about having stronger defense, siding with the group that still wants to wipe out the humans? When did this change happen, is it not a bit sudden? Does it not defy a little logic? Plus Cavil? I'm much better looking than creepy old dude, Boomer, what gives? 5.) So, if you kill off the 6's and 8's (with the exception of Boomer), and they can't download again, doesn't that Frak up the Cylons? I mean, isn't each group supposed to be responsible for some aspect of Cylon functionality? So, if you kill off one group, or two, aren't you like condemning yourself to failure? And what will this mean for naked boomer action in the future? 6.) So, D'Anna get's unboxed. No spoiler there, we all know it's coming. And there are no more 6's 8's and whatever Leobin is. Why would Cavil unbox her at all? Doesn't it seem like this is against what we've seen again? I don't know, I guess there's supposed to be a plan for this season, but so far it just doesn't fit in with the last three seasons.

OK, so Cavil's frakking Boomer. Didn't see that coming. Whoever last week was saying that her dancing was a big deal and I said it wasn't, I was wrong, you were right, k, let's move on.

My thoughts:

1. Didn't see the Boomer/Cavil relationship coming AT ALL.

2. So is Natalie dead now?

3. What's up with Starbuck? Is she the fifth F5, then?

4. Why is Athena on the garbage ship? Did she volunteer? Surely Adama would want her with the fleet.

5. Is Lee going to start ANOTHER coup d’état with Apollo--I mean Zarek? Why doesn't he just go ahead and take over the entire fleet. He's got the military behind him.

6. Was Tori working as a Cylon, or as Tori when she took Nicky and airlocked Cally? She was acting really strangely, do you think that was her programming taking over? If so, not good.

7. Finally: CALLY'S DEAD! WHAT THE FRAK. I love love love Nikki Clyne. I can't believe at all that she's dead. The show just won't be the same.

8. Ron Moore said he's finished the podcasts for 403, 404, and this episode, 405. They're in the hands of SciFi.com, so whenever they get finished with the files, we'll get to hear TPTB's explanation for some of the drastic turns this show is taking.

for frak's sake, Helo and Athena's baby is NOT gone!! As it's pretty clear, the Final Five are a different kind of Cylon. We still don't know really what they are, so thinking that Nicky is a hybrid in the same way that the other baby is, is a huge assumption. And dude, you're watching a science fiction program. Obviously, forces are at work with Starbuck beyond what we known now. It's been pretty clear for some time now (especially since New Caprica), that Boomer has embraced her Cylonity and has cut all her ties to humanity. And of course, we don't know what the consequences of the Cylon civil war are yet. It just happened. Just keep watching.

the other thing about Tori vs. Callie
by oisin5199
Apr 18th, 2008
11:49:20 PM
Since Callie already had the inside panel open with the green button lit, everyone's going to assume it was a suicide. Including the Chief. Will Tori tell him? I don't think there was any 'programming' involved (that would be too easy). I think it was simply her being incredibly devious by pretending to help Callie and killing her to keep their secret. Tori's quickly becoming the most dangerous, because it seems like she's turning into something totally amoral. Anders has his irrational love for Starbuck, Tigh has his devotion to duty and Adama, and his (still) undying hatred for the Cylons, Tyrol has (had) his family, while Tori has nothing, besides a half-hearted devotion to Roslin which she'll drop in a second when it suits her. I think without Callie, Tyrol will become more dangerous himself, but I think he'll still have a strong moral center underneath it all.

Well, i for one didn't see this coming. I am also worried about the extremes that Tori is now embracing. What about Tigh? The "I can't stand your faces" line makes me believe that they are all going to get put through the ringer as the eps air. I'm still lost over Apollo's desire to side with Zarek. It seems that he just wants to stir up trouble. Maybe he has insight to the Pres physical situation and wants to prevent the Z man from having too much power when she finally does die. OK, here are some answers for a couple of questions posed above.

Hera, Helo and Athena's baby has been a plot point that only makes occasional appearances for quite some time. After her birth, she disappeared until the New Caprica arc. Then she was again absent until the Eye of Jupiter episodes. After that, she was again largely absent until the shared dream sequence between Caprica Six, Roslin, and Athena in 3x19. So, historically, she only really pops up every ten episodes or so anyway. That means her last appearance in 3x19 was only five episodes ago. It hasn't been that long.

As I stated earlier in the thread, Ronald D. Moore has stated that the Final Five are not like the other cylons. He said that the fourth season would change our idea of what a cylon is. Search for my earlier post for more info.

RDM has also stated unequivocably that Kara is NOT the final cylon, and that the final cylon is NOT present in the BSG Last Supper pic. I really wish people would pay attention to this so that we don't have to keep repeating it. See the Last Supper pic here: http://www.scifi.com/battlesta r/

Boomer's character arc has been very well developed. About as well as Athena's arc. In "Downloaded" Caprica Six and then Galactica Boomer decided to change THE PLAN from annihilating the Colonials to trying to atone for their attempted genocide by acting as a shepherd for the remaining Colonials. The unwarranted, to Boomer anyway, insurrection on New Caprica permanently soured her on humanity. She considers them ungrateful for what the cylons were willing to provide for them. So, no, it's not a bit sudden or illogical.

Also, no, the 2s, 6s, and 8s are not dead. Presumably there are more of them on the basestars controlled by the 1s, 4s, and 5s. If not, presumably there are more bodies on the Resurrection Ship that could be woken up to take their place. Also, yes, presumably the Natalie version of Number Six is presumed dead.

Finally, I find it funny that someone above complains about there not being any more fleet battles when the episode that aired tonight included one. Talk about a REALLY short-term memory.

Oh, half of what I typed above is pretty easy to gather from watching the third season. The DVDs are out there. Hell, torrents are out there. Try watching the show before asking questions with easy answers.

...a couple of people mention the ships of light above as being in tonight's episode. I've seen the episode twice now, and I don't recall seeing them. If you're talking about the three lights in Kara's memory of the gas giant and comet, those are clearly meant to be the three stars in the ternary system. This is also, by the way, likely the Alpha Centauri system, consisting of two Sol-like stars, Alpha Centauri A and B, and Proxima Centauri, a brown dwarf removed from the immediate interactions of A and B. Proxima Centauri is also the closest star to our own. Also of interest is the fact that astronomers do not believe that gas giant formation would be possible in the Alpha Centauri A/B pairing due to the gravitational interaction between those two stars. So, if the system Kara was shown is in fact Alpha Centauri, the writers are probably wrong about the gas giant.

The problem with seeing "the Orion Constellation" is that unless you are looking at it from the same angle as from Earth, it would not look the same. Patterns of dots (or stars in this case) in a 3-dimensional environment are all dependent on perspective.
Holodigm
by Strabo

Excellent catch! That is clearly the Orion Constellation. Unfortunately, all this tells us is that Earth lies upon the axis formed by a line between the constellation and the camera. Either between the location of the Cylon fleet and the stars of the constellation, or directly behind (antipodean to) the camera's viewpoint.

The stars that make up the constellation range from about 250 light years away to 1300 ly distant, so, the closer you get to the constellation, the more distorted the constellation would become due to parallax. The parallax would work both ways too. So, yes, Holodigm is definitely correct. The Cylon fleet is probably pretty damn close to Earth already.

"Was Tori working as a Cylon, or as Tori when she took Nicky and airlocked Cally? She was acting really strangely, do you think that was her programming taking over?"...no programming. Tori has the hawts for Tyrol...she was saving her own skin, removing a rival, and creating a situation (single parent) that would allow her to conceivably get closer to Tyrol. As for the Cylons, we can assume that not all the Sixes and Sharons are dead. RDM has said that 3 Cylon models will be perma-killed this season. Since Athena/Boomer/Caprica Six are such integral cylon characters, it doesn't make sense that they will all be killed...especially since Caprica and Athena aren't even within the Cylon fleet and thus would be (largely) immune from the immediate effects of the civil war. This sneak attack will be a setback, but IMO the Cavils will eventually lose since D'Anna gets unboxed.

I just read through the entire spoiler list at Patriot Resource. They don't seem to list anything about any of the cylons being perma-killed/boxed. Do you have a cite for that? Even if that's true, I highly doubt they'd do it this early in the season. Particularly with models as integral as Six and Eight. If they were to kill off three of the existing models, it would likely be the models they use the least. 4, and 5, likely (Simon and Doral). After that, it's a toss-up between 1 and 2 (Cavil and Leoben).

Proevad: here it is, one more time for the slow people. THE FINAL CYLON IS NOT PRESENT IN THE LAST SUPPER PICTURE. Got it? Say it with me, one more time. After all, the constellations, not only do they exist from a particular point of view (ie Earth - which should also mean in the BSG Universe life *started* on Earth) but also a particular time frame, as too many years in the past or too many in the future means the star patterns would have changed.

I'm going to miss Cally. The episode sort of teased early on that she could be the Final Five. But I'm afraid she's not -- there so far is no evidence that any of the Final Five can resurrect.

On a superficial note, I always suspected the actress who played Cally looks better without bangs. Nice to see that for her last appearance on the show, she had her bangs grown out.

Thanks for your sympathy. The funny part is that I think Herc was the one who posted those spoilers. Oh well. It was still an incredible episode.

Quoting from Wikipedia:

"The configurations of the constellation Orion roughly formed about 1.5 million years ago, because of relative slow movements of stars within the constellation from earth's perspective (especially the belt of Orion). Orion will remain visible in the night sky for the next 1 to 2 million years, making it one of the longest observable constellations, parallel to the rise of human civilization."

So, unfortunately this doesn't tell us much about the time frame of the series.

Maybe this is just a plot hole, I don't know, but I was sitting here thinking about Human/Cylon babies and I don't really have an answer for these quesitons.... 1) If Cylons reporduce with humans would that not mean that the child would be a Cylon clone? Or would the DNA from each species mix to form something unique each and every time? I'll cite the following as an example: Boomer has a girl, Helo has a boy with curly hair no less. We have not seen much of Hera, but when we do, what are the odds that she will be Asian? 2) If the babies do end up looking like their Cylon model would that not rule out the whole all humanity are Cylons argument?

I was under the belief that the majority of the zodiac symbols (maybe that's what I should have said, not constellations) only came into alignment as we see them now a few thousand years ago and will move out of their current appearance in a few thousand years. Here's my theory: The only way the Colonials could have gotten the twelve colony symbols to look very much like the zodiac star patterns we can only see from Earth, then life had to have started on Earth, not Kobol in the BSG universe. Someone had to take it from Earth to Kobol, then set up that holographic projection on Kobol, with an appearance of Earth's night sky which they could only have if they'd been there first/before and that the 13th tribe returned to Earth. I'm hoping that when they find Earth, it's in the future and not the past. I think it would be especially poignant to find ancient ruins of cities which are our present day modern ones with recognisable major buildings/structures - pyramids, Statue of Liberty, Eiffel Tower etc. The time frame because of the constellations from the zodiac would peg the show in our (relatively near) future because too far in the past or too late, there would have been no star patterns to see like our present day zodiac. This is assuming the writers are following this logic. After all it's possible in this universe "All along the Watchtower" wasn't written by Bob Dylan, or even that there was a Bob Dylan ...

It does seem as though we've missed some scenes... like why Tyrol and Boomer don't seem to be together, where there chi;d is, and why a quarter of the shows cast is off with Starbuck. I wonder if we are getting edited versions only so that "directors cuts" will be there for us to buy down the road. Dunnno... might be. Also, as to why Tighe has been around so long, its possible he may have been the first model made, just cause he's number whatever now doesn't mean he wasn't an original. The first attempts may have faild and he was the first to succeed... yet still was more human than machine, hence he ages. The other three with him may have also been flawed models... just speculating. And what the frak is wrong with Roselyn, other than her illness? Whenever somebody says the show has gone to shit they pinpoint some absurdly early point in time? "Oh, it was fine up until Episode 3 of Season 1, I've been disappointed ever since!" Here's a clue: If you think Season 2 and 3 were crap, you probably just don't like the show.

I love how people keep posting their guesses that are in the "last supper" photo just so Strabo and Wnanahara7 will type in all caps. I know they say that the final cylon is not in the pic, but pleeze - what if they are? Certainly you are not going to simply take their word for it. Six months from now they may be saying "whoops - we lied". SECONDLY - with all the discussion concerning the resurrection ship. What is going to happen to the cylon homeworld in the long-term, regardless of happens to the cylon fleet. Are they warring at home as well?
