I don't know if the movie will be good or bad, but it's obviously going for a purposefully super-stylized world that the CGI is there to create. At a certain point bitching "too much CGI" in a movie like this is like saying "too much animation!!!" when you go to see an animated film.

This movie will make an ungodly ammount of money. Seriously. This will make more in the first showing that n Leatheheads makes in its entire run. Looks perfect. By the way- Walmart and other places have Hotwheel speed racer cars (mach 4,5,6 Racer X, and others) for very cheap. $$$$ makes movies. As Mel Brooks said--Moichandising.

The point I was making was the about the amount of money thrown at it vs. the return, which is what I think will be echoed with Speed Racer. The world that made in this looks amazing, it's just what a Speed Racer movie SHOULD look like. It's also the definition of how CG can work. You can say it looks like a cartoon and bitch, but why it's stupid to bitch about that is it's BASED on a cartoon! I have a friend who is working on the special effects for Speed Racer (still, as the movie isn't finished, yet) and he says it's an absolute clusterfuck. Apparently, everything looks like shit, so they've been telling the animators to just have shit move really fast, so you can't tell how bad it looks.

The Matrix Trilogy OWNS your asses! Hate 2 and 3 all you want but monetarily speaking they were far far far from flops... and that's precisely the reason why the Wachowski brothers can make whatever they want, and it's all good to me because Reloaded and Revolutions were awesome! I need Speed Racer on blu-ray the day after I see this in the cinema! This is going to be the movie that hi-def enthusiasts use to calibrate, test and compare the true worth of their set ups!

I watched the four minute international trailer and was very surprised to see not only Matthew Fox talking to Speed NOT in disguise but Speed actually make his trademark "Aaaah!" exclamation and then follow it with "This race is full of cheaters". I'm so there when this comes out. Imax or bust.

Honestly, complaining that this looks "too CG" is ridiculous! The only thing that's supposed to be real is the actors...and THAT'S IT!!! Like 'Sin City' or '300', the environment is supposed to be COMPLETELY artificial and COMPLETELY sylised! Seriously, it's time to stop bitching about filmmakers trying to make films that are genuinely DIFFERENT (I mean, that IS what we all want, isn't it?), and it's time to start cheering for 'Speed Racer' to GoGoGo!!!
