I haven't even heard of this film before but i'm going to watch this (and love it) just because my last name is "Hoole". I may actually change it to "Ga'Hoole" if the movie turns out to be any good.

...Synder is having to do a few less adult projects to be allowed to do more risky ones. Although to be honest this sounds fairly odd...

There is owl brainwashing and egg theft and creative inventive cursing and mythic journey elements all together. I'd recomend for kids age 7 up to 12 if they like "talking animal" type stories. Also some adults who are fond of mythic journey style Young Adult fiction might enjoy this. Provided it is NOTHING like Happy Feet, it should be an ammusing ride.
Why the hating on Happy Feet?

Robin Williams? Sure, I'll give you Robin Williams, but if there's anywhere his schtick actually WORKS anymore, it's here (the kids certainly found him entertaining enough). The music (and the "heart song" premise that goes with it)? It's a musical, dude. A big, epic, family musical (and how many of those get made?). The ending? Well, adults may have a suspension of disbelief problem with it, but kids don't, and from that perspective it's a beautifully hopeful resolution. Which is really a pretty hard target to hit at the end of an epic, when you consider how much of an ending problem Hollywood has just with regular-sized movies. Against the backdrop of this flood of computer animated family fare the industry has produced these past few years, I think Happy Feet stands out as a rare gem.

I loved that part on the Simpsons, too bad the episode wasn't as good. I was hoping for a full episode about comic book but instead it was like the first 7 minutes.

Not sure why folks would hate a quality movie done with heart. Unless they didn't see it and are just automatically ragging on it -- but that'd never happen.
