If you watched the original series, remember the light beings? They did cool stuff like bring back Apollo from the dead, and everyone's costumes were turned white...I notice Glen Larson is some kind of consultant. The original show was written around his mormon beliefs, so Lord John may be on to something. I'm voting for the final five to be some kind of spiritual, or mythical connector to our own.

Goddamned if they don't. If they didn't says 'Godsdamn' instead of Goddamn they'd have smart-arse geeks everywhere falling over themselves to point out the 'plot hole'.

As for 'frak'... It allows them so say 'fuck', 'go fuck yourself', 'mother-fucker' and countless other variations, as often as they like with no reprisals. Seems like a smart move to me on a show that's aiming for a certain level of 'realism' in its dialogue.

At some point, maybe when they reach Earth, we're going to discover that Cylons and Humans are so well inter-meshed (did I just make up a word?) that it will be impossible to tell 'em apart. Thus, we Earthlings live in harmony with our Cylong counterparts and neither side is the wiser...yea/no? Whatever, just a prediction.

A Theory...

No one has ever really discussed timelines i.e. when is this supposed to be set in Earth time, I think people just assume it’s like the original and when they get to Earth it will be present day. But I don’t think that’s the case at all.

I think that we will find that this is set a long time in the future and that all this happened with Cylons on Earth many years ago a la Terminator or the Matrix.

Human beings fled Earth to search for other new homes, and they found Cobal.

Some of the Earthling Cylons stowed aboard as spies or something similar.

Once they discovered and moved to the 12 colonies, much of the original lore of Earth was lost, but not the Immortal Cylons, as predicted Human beings ended up creating a new race of Cylons, but unbeknownst to them the Earth Cylons started to influence them and eventually lead them, creating the 7 models known for a while, the other 4 we have just found were 4 of the original models from earth, but they had their memories wiped (For some reason), the only one who knows what lies on Earth is the last model we have not seen yet.

When they do get to Earth they will discover it is a Cylon controlled world, but far more advanced Cylons than the ones they know of, they will have to choose whether they can live in co-existence or whether they leave and try and find another new home elsewhere. The Earth Cylons will be more accepting of Humans and actually value them, unlike the Colony Cylons who basically just wanted to enslave them. The Earth Cy;ons will answer all the questions both the Humans and the Colony Cylons have and explain how they are destined to be together,

In fact perhaps not all Humans exited Earth and those that remain have integrated fully with Cylons who have almost become a hybrid, no distinction between Human and Cylon and all Social problems and Death Illness are all solved, it my be a Utopia.

That’s what I think is going to happen, maybe its completely wrong though…Thoughts?

Here's a true story...

They were having a "Joke of the Day" contest (this was during the time when Howard was transitioning to Sirius and couldn't be on the air...so I was listening) and this fellow calls in with the following joke:

"A guy is at work and his telephone rings. 'This is Dr. Smith down at County General. Your wife has been admitted and you should get down here right away'. So the guy drives down to the hospital and is met by the grim faced doctor. 'Sir', he explains, 'Your wife has been in a terrible automobile accident. She'll live, but she will never be able to walk, talk, feed or clean herself ever again'. The guy looks at the doctor and pleads 'Doctor, isn't there anything else you can do for her?' The doctor grins and says 'Man, I'm just kidding with you. She's dead!'

Which gets them both chortling that fake laugh of theirs and wins the joke of the day.

Then his (Don? Mike? who knows which is which??) wife is killed in a car accident a year or two later.

Now, that's tragic and I feel really bad when anyone's life is cut short, especially in a senseless car crash...but THAT'S COMEDY!

Seriously, that sucks, but it's oddly funny or ironic or whatever.

And Howard sucks for not replaying yesterday's show. I call BULLSHIT on the whole to-do.

Glen Larson has absolutely nothing to do with new Galactica. The producer credit was just a way for them to smooth over any rights issue. He still holds the rights to any movie version, which mainly serves to give the five fanboys that love the original but hate the new hope that the original will be continued. Even though 1980 pretty much ended that.

of going down as one of the most disjointed serial dramas in history. "Making it up as you go along" doesn't even begin to cover it. There's no "plan" apparently any more. First the Cylons wanted to kill everyone and then they didn't and now they kinda do. Plus, Cylon models are introduced within the fleet for seemingly no reason while posing the nearly impossible coincidence that all four were luckily in places where the initial sneak attack would not harm them. I've enjoyed the show in spurts (sometimes a LOT!), but the heavyhanded preachy-ness and the fits and starts of the various abandoned plotlines have made the show largely a missed opportunity. I mean, JMS, whatever faults he may have, showed us the way to put a sci-fi drama together over several seasons. At least sketch something out ahead of time, people!!! If you don't, you might end up like LOST.

Anyway, as I was saying: the changing goals of the cylons reflects the fact that they are not one monolithic race with a single viewpoint and way of behaving (like many of the races in Trek), but a group of individuals with different ideas how to deal with humanity, ideas that change over time. To get specific, the cylons originally wanted to exterminate their creators as revenge, then Caprica Six and Boomer, as the first Cylon war heroes managed to convince a section of the Cylon population that such brutality was unnecessary, and the atheistic Cavil models thought the Cylons should go their own way, ditch the whole 'acting human' thing and cease interacting with humans at all but just 'be machines'. The Cylons had done so until they detected the nuke Gina set off, and came to investigate. Presumably the chance to conquer humanity in one easy blow was too tempting to pass up, but there was clearly conflict within the Cylon ranks with how to deal with humans.

The Boomer/Eights and Caprica/Sixes wanted to try and live with them in peace, the Brother Cavils only put up with them because everyone else wanted to, and were all in favour of near-extermination and brutal oppression to keep them in line, the Simon models always just seem coldly analytical about situations, just studying things without forming an opinion, Leobens are religious nutcases who think everything is pre-ordained and don't seem to get involved, and Dorals are the most beligeratn and human-hating of the group, and probably the first to want to just kill the humans. D'ianna seemd to take the lead all the time and try and walk the line between everyone's viewpoints, until she became obsessed with the Final Five and her model was boxed. The Cylons now seem to have decided they want to get to Earth instead of the humans, and this, rather than exterminating the humans, seems to be their driving motivation at the moment. Why is just one of the mysteries that this season will surely tackle.

As for JMS, you're right, but he too had his alien civilisations behave in different,. sometimes contradictory ways, because this is more realistic that the Trek race-as-analogy-for-one-specif ic-viewpoint/philosphy schtick thaqt leads to honour-obsessed Klingons, super-capitalistic Ferengi, logic-loving Vulcans, etc. You could just as easily have said, "what's up with the Minbari? One minute they want to exterminate humans, next minute they're our best friends!", and it would be just as shallow and misleading an interpretation as yours of the Cylons.

Secondly, your points about the Cylon double-agents just 'happening' to be surviving in the fleet is completely fallacious. For one thing, the Cylons, even the ones who didn't know who they were, may have had some hidden drive to gravitate towards positions of authority and effectiveness, and may have had secret information forewarning of the attack in them that gave them the edge in surviving and making it to safety. But even without this speculation, there's the blindingly obvious solution that for every Cylon agent that made it into the rag-tag fleet and survived, maybe a hundred died in the attacks! With Boomer (and Doral) on Galactica and Gina on Pegasus, maybe one of the Cylon goals was to get an agent on every Battlestar, and the only reason we've seen the ones one Pegasus and Galactica is because all the ones on other Battlestars perished with them (maybe even assisted in sabotaging them), before being resurrected in the Cylon fleet.

The final cylon is non other than Zak Adama... Kara's fiancee, and Lee's brother... Adama men seem to be fond of resurrecting kids as Robots........why should the Old Man be any different..... I mean it makes perfect sense, what if Zak had left something of himself in Kara that let her ressurect without her knowing it. Then when the Cylons got ahold of her back on Caprica they triggered it. Maybe Leobden got obsessed with her because he saw something Zak saw in her after he was killed, like accessed a memory or something when he ressurected... something a few cylons can do.

Granted, my complaints may seem very broad, but, I didn't really want to go on a long rant when it seems a little too much like raining on everyone's parade. I appreciate the efforts and excellent analysis, Raw_bean. Your explanations hang together really well. But, as with LOST (or latter day George Lucas for that matter), we can only take as canon what we see on screen. A couple logical leaps are fine, but at some point it seems a little too much like fanfic. It's sad that we fans have to create dream scenarios in order for our favorite shows to make complete sense. It would be better if we could watch without that nagging feeling of "Hey, have they forgotten the electromagnetic anomaly that had to be constantly reset or else it would cause nearby planes to crash?" Hell, I think Moore and Co. are too busy trying to shoehorn in commentary about organized religion and the Patriot act to worry about lame story turns like "Watchtower." Oh well, they can't all be "33" or "Atmo Jump Asskickery." I'm tuned in until the end, of course. Stormwatcher, that was an awesome post too, LOL. And I didn't realize Don was finished. They used to air the show in my market and I was addicted quickly. I'll have to stream the show at work today.

I dont think it will pan out exactly like that, but then I am not writing the show, i just think there are often writers clues that you can see that point towards certain things, as said it could be completley out of whack with what actually happens, but it will be very different to what people are expecting

Thats probably what I would go with if I was a writer on the show.

I also agree about the person saying its now getting too confusing and disjointed, thats absolute rubbish, i certainly dont feel that way when I watch it.

LOST is getting a little disjointed for me now, but I still love it, hell I loved the Prisoner and even the writers did not know what was going on in that, but BSG is not like this at all.

By the way Prisoner is being remade by Sky TV in UK, but I cant talk about it, because I work for Sky.

Don't the Cylons want to find the Earth now? The Cylon "plan" involves the destruction of the human species, including those on Earth. And, considering the Cylons do NOT know where Earth is... why would they blow up the Galactica now when they could follow Adama straight to Earth, since Adama may (or may not) understand the Eye of Jupiter?

Ron Moore continues to amaze me. As the above poster said, LOST and BSG coupled together could end the war in the Middle East, terminate Uwe Boll's career, or trigger the return of the Messiah.

Surely anyone will agree that LOST, now that the end point is finite, is in the midst of a course correction of sorts. And it's certainly one that helps the show. But, I would assert that many hints and plot points offered in the first season or so are conveniently forgotten by now and will not figure into the endgame. As always, I could be wrong. Here's hoping that the writers on both shows come up with a brilliant way to make all the listing about that came before make perfect sense.

No offense, but the LOST writers *have* consistently dealt with the electromagnetic anomaly. It has been a central focus for the past 3 years. Let me break it down for you. ***LOST SPOILERS***

1. DHARMA damaged a magnet, causing an EMP to charge. They wanted to study the anomaly so they created the Swan to discharge the EMP. In the event of an EMERGENCY, a failsafe key was created to destroy the magnet.

2. DHARMA was killed in a Purge. Rosseau and the Swan operative were left alive.

3. Flying away from the island = dangerous. You can get time travel sickness from radiation. Leaving island by sub = Safe.

4. Ben had left the island by sub in the past but was afraid to leave for surgery, most likely because Widmore has a bounty on his head.

5. The island is cloaked, and is difficult to track without knowing its precise coordinates. Ben's equipment to track the island remotely may have been destroyed by the EMP failsafe explosion.

6. The EMP failsafe explosion exposed Desmond to radiation, leading to time traveling anomalies.

7. After the EMP failsafe explosion, the magnetic burst was captured by Penny, who is now very close to rescuing Desmond.

I know LOST haters may not like to admit it. But it makes sense.

Streaming is perfect this week.

Well, the idea that the Cylons (and humans) want to find Earth is a given. I think that's always been insinuated with regards to the "Plan". Whether or not they are in complete agreement about the destruction of the human race is open for debate. We've already seen the fractures developing within the Cylon society over what to do with the surviving humans. And I, for one, have a feeling that the Final Five are going to play a monster roll in this.

Err, not to accuse you of paying too little attention to the series, but while it's not spelled out in lots of explicit detail, most of what I said about the Cylon's motivations was taekn directly from dialogue on the show. See 'Downloaded', 'Lay Down Your Burdens', and the first four episodes of season 3 for most of it. As for my points about the Cylon agents and the 'coincidence' of them surviving into the fleet, I was just applying common sense, which I don't think is invalid.

Can't believe I'm getting drawn into this but here goes nothing! Ashok0, you definitely mentioned some *stuff that happened* on the LOST show. But, most of your bullet points only strengthen my point. "Dharma damaged a magnet?" Where does that factoid come from? Marvin Candle or some supplemental Interweb material or fan speculation? Apologies if I missed it. I thought as far as we knew, the anomaly was peculiar to the island. You mention the navigational weirdness. With the anomaly failsafed (presumably gone in a purple puff of smoke / radiation / clothes-removing shockwave), why does navigation continue to be a problem? We don't know. What does time travel have to do with magnetism? We don't know, exactly. We've now transitioned to Gracie-radiation as another weirdness producing factor, as if we needed the waters muddled yet more. You can say it was all meant to go together, but it seems too much like stuff thrown against a wall to me. RE: the sub. Don't get me started. Why would crossing a spatial barrier in a sub be any different than doing so in a boat or airplane? No reason and I'm sure they'll stay far away from that sticky wicket on the show. Basically, it's a forced plot device so they could plausibly get the Others into "real" world flashbacks. No care was given to whether it made sense. The surgery plot hole is yet another problem. At times, Ben and others can easily go to and from the island (when it's convenient to the story for them to pop up) and at other times not. The Widmore angle is problematic too. I believe he was meant as no more than a supporting character back when he was introduced, but has been written on the fly as a shadowy figure / manipulator perhaps replacing the Alvar Hanso (speculated) plotline. Tracking the island itself never seems consistent to me either. So, there's a directional heading one can use for minimal trouble? Does that imply a safe, but narrow, corridor of travel as it would seem? Unclear, because a corridor would start at one point and end at another point. Michael and Waaaallltt's boat left from another point than the helicopter recently left from. Are we to say that one merely needs to be traveling in a specific compass direction regardless of departure point to safely leave the island? Yet more dodgy sounding fanfic there on my part. Now, a lot of this stuff may sound obnoxiously nitpicky, but the show puts forth the ideas and rules and asks us to play by them. Only, all of the presented points don't really stand up to that level of scrutiny. How about the "numbers?" At one point, the show seemed to be telling us that there was a (perhaps even mystical) significance to them that buttressed the entire mythology of the show. (The hatch, the lottery, etc.) Now, the showrunners hint that they're pretty much done with the numbers from a story point of view. That doesn't seem like a retcon to anyone else? Oh and don't forget the four toed statue. They've already said that the network said the whole concept was just a little "too weird" for them and it's going to end up being yet another dead end. How about the Others beginning as silent but deadly supermen? They were far more interesting as Redneck ninjas IMHO. Of course, the civilized "Others book club" reveal was awesome. So, I can't really complain.

To raw_bean, I so want to agree with you. But, I think these latest Cylon models are going to end up being singular individuals. For instance, does it make sense for there to be a Colonel Tigh on each Battlestar? Someone of his rank would be well known throughout the fleet and therefore copies of him wouldn't be able to be as stealthy as the odd Leoben or two peppered around the colonies. But, if we say that, then we're back to the coincidental survival problem I mentioned before. You suggest I haven't been paying attention. I say some folks have a short memory. The BSG survived through the lucky stroke of not having a central computer network for the toasters to control. Their fighters were effective because they were older models. Now, we're going to say that every event that led to the survival of the final four was a manipulation by the Cylons? If so, that cheapens the Galactica's survival. It was never meant to be destroyed. Of course, that doesn't jibe with the number of times the BSG was within mere moments of being destroyed while in combat with the Cylons. You mean they jumped just seconds before the warheads hit and the Cylons planned all that out? Honestly guys, I think it's obvious that we're not supposed to think about these two shows too seriously. They just don't stand up to that level of scrutiny. That said, BSG, LOST and Dexter are the only shows currently season passed on my Tivo. For all my complaints, they really are only nitpicks compared to how much these shows beat the other crap out there on the airwaves.

Cylons ~= humans ?
by TheCap
Apr 11th, 2008
04:46:47 PM
Why is it that the similarities between Cylons and humans never really get fair consideration ? The humans are all so hell-bent on killing the "toasters" that they've completely overlooked th fact that the skin-job Cylons are very, VERY similar to humans from a biological standpoint. I'd wager there's hardly ANY "machine" in a biological Cylon. And why hasn't any intelligent human in the fleet ever had the thought that humans are essentially bio-chemical machines ? How are "natural" humans NOT mechanical, when taken in context with the Cylon "fake" humans ? Very strange that no intelligent BSG character has advocated the "we're far more similar than different" perspective. Maybe that's a key to the whole mystery ... ? That is all.
And there's nothing wrong with "frak".

Dharma damaged the magnet during the Incident. We know this from Marvin Candle. He is a canon character in the show.

As far as the navigation issues go, it has consistently been stated that navigation is ALWAYS safely possible if you traverse across very specific coordinates. The entire island was surrounded by magnetic anomalies both BEFORE and AFTER the Swan explosion. However, with the Failsafe activated, the magnetism will not cause the island to implode on itself.

As far as Ben leaving the island, I agree this is the biggest gray area of the series. However, I think Ben probably has a legitimate reason for wishing to stay on the island. Possibly in fear that Widmore will kill him (note: this DOES require fan fic style thinking). However, I think once Ben DOES leave with the Oceanic Six, we will understand clearly why he did not wish to leave the island for surgery if he could.

Why would leaving in a sub be any different than doing so in a boat or airplane? Once can assume a submarine could pass UNDERNEATH a spatial barrier.

As far as how is electromagnetism connected to time travel, now you're just getting nitpicky. As far as I know, time travel isn't possible. While you're questioning the mechanics of time travel, how do the ships in BSG communicate w/o WAP as I have not seen any Linksys routers anywhere on the ships, and how can Cylons be real if there is no Core 2 Quad chip in their heads?

Widmore was written as a side character originally? Has this been confirmed by Damon? Even if true... who cares, Widmore ROCKS. :D The more Widmore the better, power for Damon for signing him on to more episodes.

Tracking the island has always been virtually impossible. Consistently. Flight 815 didn't "see" the island until it was right on top of it. Namoi has a *beep* of a time finding the island. Penny can't find it. Now, how did Michael successfully get to NY w/o going in circles when Desmond couldn't leave? This is the 2nd real legitimate plot hole that you've mentioned. But remember, we didn't actually SEE Michael get rescued, and Ben did give Mike specific directions. Either way I'm hoping we will get an answer later in S4. I'm wondering if time travel was involved.

I don't think we can comment fully on the numbers now. That's one of the BIG mysteries along with Smokey that I wouldn't expect to see resolved until Season 6.

I think we'll definitely see the 4 Toe statue once we see the other side of the island again, along with the Temple. And hey, it's been confirmed that Richard is coming back!!! Woo!!!

Some of your points are ridiculously nitpicky, some I agree are legitimate questions. Either way, I think everything will gel nicely once S4 reaches its climax. I have a feeling once Ben is FORCED to leave along with the Oceanic Six, all this navigation business will be made clear. In the mean time, I don't care what anyone says. No currently airing show on TV has anything on LOST, with the SOLE exception of DEXTER and BSG. Period.

It also isn't as if they can't tel exactly how many people are watching the internet stream which does have commercials. I'm also guessing by showing it at noon before it is on they are trying to get buzz and perhaps get people to watch it on their site with commercials rather than torrent it later.

Or he's Eli Stone. We do at least know that "they will not hurt their own". That's a pretty awesome possibility right there.

I agree. I predicted something similar last fall when they first said that "That which happened before will happen again." www.aintitcool.com/talkback_di splay/34655 What I said paints Earth as a little less friendly, but these theories all seem like fairly logical conclusions given that tagline. The one thing that gives me pause is that they've said that they won't get to Earth until the final episode. If any of these theories are correct, that's a lot to present in one episode.

(1) They get to Earth and discover that their ancestors, i.e. the founders of the original 12 colonies, were exiled from Earth.

(2) They discover that the Earth humans also created a mechanical cylon-like race that they went to war with.

(3) They learn that those mechanical creations also managed to create skin jobs (organic versions of themselves) like the new Cylons did.

(4) They learn that the colonial founders were exiled because they weren't human; they were the organic versions of the Earth's first robotic race. Unlike the Colonies, the earth humans decided that their skin jobs were sentient, living beings and that they could not wipe them out. So, they exiled them instead.

(5) They learn that those original skin jobs colonialists decided to bury the memories of their exile so they could start fresh.

(6) They will then flash back and show how the cylons learned, during their efforts to create a hybrid in between the two Cylon wars, how to access those buried memories of the colonies true history.

(7) They will learn that the Cylons wiped out the colonies because they wanted to force some key humans to seek out their original planet, a task that they had not figured out how to do themselves.

(8) The bsg crew finally realize sthat they are exactly the same as the Cylons.

(9) Colonol Tye jumps in the air and has a Menthos moment.

"That which happened before will happen again."

It also explains what's up with Kara Thrace. I think she's a special skin job created by the old Earth humans programmed to warn Earth if the colonist ever tried to come back. When she disappeared, she made contact with them. She was then sent back to bring them all to Earth, where they will be destroyed for breaking their exile.

So now the Centurions can reason and think. I was half expecting one of the two accompanying the Natalie Six to intone "By Your Command." Perhaps next week. I am not ruling out the possibility that they can speak. But it is obvious what is happening here. There seems to be a move toward an all out Cylon Civil War. Even so, the words of the first hybrid's prophecy (as told to Kendra Shaw) are haunting: "At last, they’ve come for me. I feel their lives, their destinies spilling out before me. The denial of the one true path, played out on a world not their own, will end soon enough. Soon there will be four, glorious in awakening, struggling with the knowledge of their true selves. The pain of revelation bringing new clarity and in the midst of confusion, he will find her. Enemies brought together by impossible longing. Enemies now joined as one. The way forward at once unthinkable, yet inevitable. And the fifth, still in shadow, will claw toward the light, hungering for redemption that will only come in the howl of terrible suffering. I can see them all. The seven, now six, self-described machines who believe themselves without sin. But in time, it is sin that will consume them. They will know enmity, bitterness, the wrenching agony of one splintering into many. And then, they will join the promised land, gathered on the wings of an angel. Not an end, but a beginning."

please, please know what the fuck you're talking about before you make a fool of yourself. Lord John Whorfin - "that Tigh, Boomer, Starbuck's husband and Roslyn's assistant aren't really Cylons. They're something else." You meant Chief Tyrol, not Boomer, Boomer is the same model as Sharon/Athena, not one of the final five. CHIEF TYROL, write that down. kenichi tanaka - "The best part was when D'anna Biers makes the Centurians emotionally aware and they take out the rest of the human cylons" D'anna Biers? NO. That was a Six model that unleashed the centurions, not D'anna Biers, her model was shut down by Cavil after she saw the final five cylons in the Temple of the Five. Anyway, is Jamie Bamber leaving the show? That kind of felt like a final send off for Apollo, or I am just being a drama queen? If he is leaving or being cutback...how much does that suck.

Seriously, that was slow and boring. All the scenes with Appolo: didn't feel it. Why would people care so much about their boss leaving? he was a controversial jerk that few away from new caprica, and daddy's little boy. They all made sacrifice, lost friends. They need fighters more than ever and should hate him for leaving. this whole thing didn't ring through and was just a time filler.

Regarding the comment about "five fan boys" preferring the original over the new series...truth is, while it was artistically inferior, the original drew monster ratings (just didn't command enough of an ad rate to justify the huge budget). I doubt that the new series has ever had a tenth of the viewers that the original had (and yes, it was a different world then, a handful of channels as opposed to 500 nowadays). As for what Earth will be when they arrive...keep in mind that Chief mentioned that the Dylan song sounded like "a song from childhood" and Starbuck in 4.2 said earth was a place she remembered "being from." My gut is telling me that when the new spinoff "Caprica" begins, "Caprica" won't be a planet. It'll be a town, or a facility, in present day Earth. Wrap your mind around that, Patrick McGoohan.

The pain of others that isn't connected directly with his/her self? I'm still kinda torn on whom the 5th could be. I guess one thing to consider is Lee is going into politics...and Zarek might be a mentor. The seat next to Lee in the Last Supper picture is the empty one...hmmm....

Got that impression watching the last 2 episodes, with last weeks Christ overtones and this week he is talking to himself. He has been the single motivating force of the show, he helped in the destruction of Caprica , developed a test to weed out Cylons that never worked, became President, always the tool of the Cylons but slowly becoming a true believer. A sort of self realization. This show will end with him sacrificing himself destroying more humans and cylons to an ultimate goal. This show has crazy religious overtones that dont get explored in other genres other than science fiction. Very cool, look forward to next week.

In Head Baltar

In Head Baltar has appeared to resurrected Caprica Six and now to Baltar, which means he is a legitimate person (in an In-Head sort of way). Just as the being in the form of Leoben guided Kara, In-Head Baltar has provided "guidance" to Six and Baltar (along with In Head Six).

Whatever they are supposed to be or represent - tonight they raised their game level by putting Baltar in the employ of the Final Five(the four revealed) through Final Five member Tory.

Also, it is probably no coincidence that Kara gets the green light to search for Earth at the same time Baltar gets "retained" by the final Cylons.

Baltar as the 12th Cylon

That always seemed too obvious an option to ever actually come to pass, but once it was directly addressed on the show last season, all those suspicions were diverted. Now, for the first time ever, I actually think it's a possibility. I always thought they would leave the ChipSix and ChipBaltar mysteries kind of ambiguous and let the viewer interpret them as they wish, but now that they've changed the rules, with Baltar seeing ChipBaltar, I think they have to offer up an explanation. Baltar being a Cylon seems to be the only one that could make sense, but of course I'm sure they could come up with something else I haven't thought of.

Can someone check something for me? The drawing done by D'anna seems to show 3 men and 2 women (admittedly, not the greatest artist). Though, one of them certainly looks a lot like Tigh. Also, in that weird episode where they were interrogating Baltar and there were the 5 kids representing the final five pulling him out of the water (I think), I also remember one had an eyepatch (makes me think Tigh wasn't as off the cuff as they try to make us believe). What were the other 4 kids? Two guys and two girls? I guess the point I'm trying to make, is the final final fiver going to be female? As it is, the gender imbalance is going to be 7-5. 8-4 seems too much. (Really should have been 6-6 for the symmetry, shouldn't it?).

Also - looking at DiAnna's drawing of the Final Five ( http://media.battlestarwiki.or g/images/2/25/FFSketches.jpg ) - it seems to me that there are four males and one female. The one that has yet to be revealed may well be the so-called "imperious leader." The producers did mention a few years ago that their would be some sort of deal with the character of the imperious leader.

Well, looking at it again for the first time in a while; I guess you could argue that the 1st from the left looks the most like Starbuck (Actually the 1st from the left looks a fair amount like Starbuck), 4th from the left "could" look like Tigh but the others don't really look anything like Anders, Tory or Tyrol. Maybe Tyrol "could" be second from the left. The only conclusive thing I could say is that D'anna needed to go to art class.

I think that part of what makes the cylon civil war so interesting is that we are seeing the whole "This has all happened before" thing play out. Why did the Cylons originally rebel? Much like in the episode War of the Gods when Starbuck and Apollo came back with direction to Earth. All along this show has had little nods to the original Galactica. I believe this will be another. And even though i'm sure they will find earth sometime in the future...wouldn't it be a blast if they found it in 1980?

I was convinced Rosyln was the final cylon until she was on her own and her hair was falling out. But she's a prize bitch that's for sure. Zarek being the final cylon wouldn't be cool at this point. He's been absent for so long it would just seem lazy.

If in-head six is an Angel, could in-head Baltar be a Demon?

Tyrol is model number 12, he's said so in an interview. Just FYI.

I agree that the traditional Cylons are going to turn on the skin jobs, or at least the allow themselves to be lead by a Six. They were always led by a humanoid in the old series, so it would be a nice touch.

So gutted this is the final season. Just doesn't seem like they could explore everything fully in the time frame, but I hope I'm proved wrong.

loved the baltar/baltar conversation. he always manages to know more than he wants to, yet rarely follows up on it.

the lobotomizing of the cylon raiders made me feel sick.

aww, they get to take the shitmobile to find earth. well, it's better than nothing. i was pretty sure Starbuck was going to have her head explode if she had to go any further away.

Jamie Bamber is not allowed to leave the show. So says I. plus i don't think they need him on Horatio Hornblower any longer. Apollo is here til the bitter end.

James Callis in Bridget Jones' Diary (he's pretty funny), but it does still surprise me that he gets all the hot chicks on BSG. Perhaps that is all part of Baltar being 'special'.

sorry i missed the leno (i never thought i would ever say that) with helfer and shatner. must youtube it.

I haven't seen most episodes (I just got hooked by the few I saw last season and have been watching since then, and caught some episodes from every season since then), but has the series given any indication of what Baltar's in-head persona's are? If I remember correctly, that hot, blonde Cylon model in his head affected the material world in one episode. I've read this TB, but has the series given any substantial evidence whether or not Baltar's visitors are hallucinations, angels, or Cylon implants?

Desperate must you be, coming to me for insights! :-)

The "will not harm their own" was repeated at least twice, so I suspect it means that the Four will not be a threat to the Fleet, AND the connection between Raiders (possibly Centurions, too?) and the Four--no harming each other. Seems like the Centurions and Skin Jobs got no qualms about harming each other now, eh.

The "End Of The Line" reference was interesting to me, since D'Anna's dream sequence had her evading troops on Galactica until being shot in front of a hatch labelled End Of The Line. This started her Flatlining experience--ultimately leading her to the Temple Vision (and, in my theory, her Apology to The Hybrid). Kind of a full circle thingy, eh?

And probably all of it is utterly wrong!

The episode did not have alot of action, but it did launch some enormous story arcs --the Hybrid calling out the Final Four/Five was one of the biggest, especially in the way she influenced Six, Leoben, and Sharon to break the rules and discuss them. That encounter with the Hybrid looks to be a very formative one for those three models.
