And for fucks sake, they all sound alike. Stans dad sounds like fucking everyone. & I dont want any Heavy Metal hate for the B+. That was a damn fine episode. Kennys whole side. But the out of place Spitzer was doo doo and Cartman pretty much letting Anne Frank could have had a ton more laughs. Thats just my opinion Guy. Shhhh Shhh listen listen. Didn't see your post there, buddy... Obviously I agree.

I think the only way insightful criticisms can end is if Matt and Trey do an entire episode of the boys attempting to jump a shark, realsing, upon reflection, that they've literally been doing it their entire boyhood (through alternate takes of classic eps) and slam it home to those who need some-me-up's on the business end of a sledge hammer.

The Simpsons did anywhere from 22-25 episodes a year, and there was a good ten year streak. South Park does like 13 or 14 episodes a year, and there usually topical. I mean 20 years from now nobody is going to know who the fuck Numa Numa is what the hell the WGA strike was. Not to take anything away from South Park. It's a great show. Try watching an old episode of The Simpsons compared to an old episode of South Park. Trust me. You'll see the difference.

Without even trying very hard:

"Bart the Genius" - Bart swaps IQ tests with Martin and gets declared a genius to the delight of Homer and Marge (Season 1, Episode 2).

"Special Edna" - The teacher who was awarded the title "Teacher of the Year" was reminiscent of Jaime Escalante and the 1988 film "Stand and Deliver," where Escalante taught inner city school students that differential equations were more powerful than bullets. (Season 14, Episode 7).

"The Way We Weren't" - A much funnier abortion reference occurs when Homer meets the Sea Captain by the docks and quips, "I guess it's Roe v. Wade, and it's my right to choose," namechecking the landmark American supreme court decision on abortion. (Season 15, Episode 20).

"The Simpsons Movie" - In the nude skateboarding incident that opens the film, Bart's "little Bart" is momentarily exposed through a hole in a passing fence, prompting Ralph Wiggum to exclaim, "I like men now."

...if somehow Paris Hilton popped out, and caught the mouse for Mr. G by jumpin onto it (legs spread open of course)...and it was kinda weird that all those ladies were scared of penis...maybe Matt and Trey think women are lesbians?...

PS: and Im surprised Butters didnt get punished...guess his parents becomin more lenient wit him (like in the ugly episode)...I love that crazy kid...

I heard in an interview with the girl that plays Clara that it's been cancelled. That totally sucks. I just bought the first two seasons on DVD (totally worth it for the hilarious uncensored stuff). The third season is supposed to be out in a month or two.

It's one of the few things I've ever watched and whenever I laughed, it happened occassionally, I actually felt a little ashamed. The writing was shit, really mean, it was tasteless for the sake of being tasteless, and when a joke was unfunny it repeated over and over trying to reverse the effect. When I did laugh it was at a really absurd sight gag, like when the Asian character got behind the wheel of a car and in two seconds flat caused a 100 car pileup. You got me, stereotypes taken to the extreme. South Park must never die. Pay them what they want. The mickey mouse sketching had me rolling on the floor. Now that's comedy. I also like Family guy by the way. The scripts are shit but the jokes are consistently funny.

Stand and Deliver IS ripe for parody not recreation

Aside from "how can I read these kids?" there wasn't any real parody of Stand and Deliver. It was a lot more like a remake of it.

with Standards and Practices for that episode..."Now you can show the penismouse scurrying across the floor, but no close ups of the penismouse or the attached penis therein."" The penis can be shown in silhouette, but only for 8.7 seconds...",etc.
Not a parody of Stand And Deliver?

The whole point was Cartman teaching the "keeds" to take the easy route and cheat to succeed. Just like "the whites".
I don't think it was parody per se.

One facet of Cartman as a character is that he takes his model[s] of how to behave from things he has seen on television. Sometimes his imitations of what he has seen on TV are parodies [like when he was the bounty hunter guy] but sometimes the humor is just in the fact that Cartman is a goof, and not parody per se. The joke isn't "let's parody Stand and Deliver"; the joke is, "Cartman dresses up as Edward James Olmos and talks in a funny accent". Like in the Lice episode, they didn't parody "The Thing", the joke was just that Cartman is the kind of guy who has been waiting for a chance to act out the "everyone tied on the couch" scene from "The Thing".

Being from Canada ive always found it odd but funny the way Matt and Trey has potrayed Canada. Ive loved the show all the way threw I loved the early years and love it when it became more satire then fart jokes. I Love the Simpsons and I love Family Guy hell I loved Drawn Together and will miss it. South Park is one of the only shows that can really pull no punches and tell it like it is but still be fresh and funny. The aids episode said nobody cares about caring Aids anymore and its not the hip thing to die from nowadays. The britney episode well that was one of the weird ones but shows what mankind will do for good Corn. The Canada strike episode was clearly the writers strike but also the fact that USA takes Canada for granted but needs Canada if they want some natural resources and oil in the new millenium bitches :p The same way hollywood needs writers. The Cartman episode / Garrison Penis was a stab at replubican white people who do whatever they want to win *cough 2000 Election" and how nobody else can cheat like them. Love South Park because it can have that message and still have a American Tail spoof Musical duet with a Mouse and a Penis. The Simpsons has jumped the shark. Just make movies.

and also like the writers. Canada got nothing to stop the strike like NAFTA has screwed Canada to the US's Gain but no worries China owns us all and they got a kick ass dodgeball team. Whatevet happened to Pip and officer Bob Brady?

South Park is often to hit or miss to be funny anymore. I laughed that the Chocolate Rain "ow my brains" bit. But the preaching bullshit is hamfisted at best, 70' sitcom at its worse.

Stick to singing, buddy. It's parody when the butt of the joke is the object being imitated [as in the case of the bounty hunter example]. It's not parody when the butt of the joke is the imitator himself [as it was in the Stand and Deliver example]; it's closer to slapstick. And per se is Latin not French. Not that it matters much, I just thought it was fun to talk about. But of course you have to get all bent out of shape about it just because you're old and ugly now and people don't recognize you when you go out on tour.

See a Post on AICN is like a cheat agaisnt life. We could read a book talk to a human being or contribute something to the world but what do us mostly white males do we post on a talkback and all try to feel superior to each other. We announce First or Hulk Hogan cheats on his wife with a girl that looks like his daughter brotha. Might I add the girl is sexiest tomboy beanpole on the planet and I wouldnt change it for the world. Never change AICN talkbacker

Including Stan's sister, Pip, and Stan's dog. It's a big cast, so that's okay. I think the show really misses Chef though. It hasn't been the same since. The golden age of SP has definitely passed, though a Cartman-centric episode is almost always good viewing.
