Yea and there were humans in the first movie so they have threw history right out of the window with this one. But who cares I love blue sky studios animation work so I am willing to look past that. Maybe they are going with the lost world concept since he fell through the ice to a hidden jungle underneath. I guess we will have to wait and see.

yes your right they were extinct but in the first film we see a T-rex frozen in ice in the second film 2 creatures frozen in ice are unfrozen and attack the group so its not a stretch to go from there with these films ... Personally i like them although the animation on the first is already looking a bit ropey

It's a cartoon....for children. Don't fret about Earth's history. I'm pretty sure the kids will be able to distinguish that it is removed from reality. If not, then they deserve to get the piss taken out of them in school 'cos their parents are hicks. No kid ever felt like a twat in class for declaring that Woolly Mammoths could talk as they seen one do it on Ice Age:The Meltown.

All these posters here are panning this "cartoon" because isn't scientifically accurate? The same posters who can't wait to see a guy in an iron suit soar past jets, and a red guy from hell battling monsters, or another guy swinging from roof to roof by shooting spiderwebs? These are people that expect realism?? As for myself, I'm looking forward to see what direction they're planning to take Skrat and the rest of the gang in next year.

There are two reasons why Ice Age 3 isn't getting any slack.

First, the first two weren't that good. If they were I think the scientific implausibility would be more easily accepted.

Second, there are people who are actually attempting to teach that all animals were on Earth at once. The image of a Woolly Mammoth and a Dinosaur side by side feeds into these fantasies. Imagine if someone was claiming that The Flinstones should be taught in school as scientific fact. Wouldn't that make that piss you off just a little?

The trailer was shown before Horton Hears a Who! As was a new extended WALL-E trailer. Granted Horton was a kid's movie, but since this site has done reviews of Grinch and Cat in the Hat I'm sure, someone should have reviewed Horton to compare it to the other two. As it was all CGI, and stayed true to Seuss it was the best of the three.

At this point, as long as it's something my 7 year old will sit through (unlike Schreck 3, which she just got up and wandered off from, marketing tie-ins be damned) it's all love. A third Ice Age jumps the shark, hog ties him and then gang rapes him and while it's nice if these things are entertaining for us bigger kids, I don't get worked up over them. I am, however, sick of Scrat, or whatever the hell the nut rat's name is.

A touching story with some good laughs and loveable characters. And it's some of the very rare occasions when the German dubbing improves a whole movie (instead of ruining it)! For any reason the German voice actors seem to had more fun with it than the originals.
The second movie was okay. It wasn't bad but it wasn't as inspired as part 1. But it has a place in my heart for being my most interesting moviegoing experience so far. I was in Canada when I watched it and it was the first time that I saw a movie in a foreign theatre. And I can tell you one thing: This is the first time I've ever hear applaus during and after a movie! (Okay, it wasn't very phrenetic or even long and probably only 1/3 of the whole audience applauded, but it was a very interesting event. I still wish I would have been near a theatre where they played Slither, which came out in the same weekend.)

I enjoyed the first two movies. They were refreshing and new. And the stylistic approach to the the animals were interesting and fun. As for people believing that Dinos and Ice Age animals lived side by side is about as silly as believing in Edgar Rice Burroughs' subterrain world, "Pellucida", or Arthur Conan Doyle's "Lost World" is based on fact. But if religious fundanutalists ever start teaching "Creationism" in our schools here in Wisconsin, I will definitely start home-schooling my boy.

Should have stayed a one off thing. The first one was really good, showing that someone besides Pixar can make a good kids movie still (Dreamworks doesn't count because they may as well just call there movies $ because that is the final AIM). And the sequel was just blah. I don't know why these animation studios haven't learned from Pixar? Make new movies not more sequels. I know Pixar did Toy Story 2, but come on its in the top 5 best sequels.

or the snout slingshot? Geez Harry. The Ice Age Scrat teasers are as close as we've gotten to a classic WB short for ages.

Maybe you're just mad Harry because everyone on the net had it up an Ice Age before you.

The actual films are stale road/buddy movie crap though, storywise and pacing-wise. Blue Sky are the biggest disappointments to me as if you turn the sound down you'll see the actual animation is the best outside Pixar. They even dumbed down the initial graphic/stylised, jagged look of the first one for 2 and gave 'em regular fur. All such a waste...
