A Horror Every Time You Look in the Mirror

That's what yer Momma said! An Asian horror film that is confusing, full of plot holes and features vengeful ghosts, (which is then remade by Hollywood) - what an amazing concept. I hope this starts a trend. Good review by the way, shame about Aja, I enjoyed the Hills remake. Didn't see the second one as I have a bad case of rational thought.
HIGH TENSION rocked

HILLS I'm not as big on, definitely one of the only almost tolerable horror remakes the only other one being the DAWN remake. I'm not sure about this one I got tired of the asian crap a while ago as well. They should just give this guy another giallo slasher story.

absolutely love it, one of my favorite horror movies...although the twist at the end was unnecessary but its good enough that it can be overlooked, agreed he needs to get back to those slasher type films
He should have directed P2

In a horror film?? Based on Japanese / Korean source material??? You don't say. I could've guessed that without seeing frame one of this movie. Those movies are crap because they make the rules up as they go along, like how the demonic mirror predicts your death, but only if you look into it on Wednesday and you have blond hair...and it's also seven days you've watched the little girl's video and she's called you...
I think Aja is the most talented of today's horror directors.

Even though TENSION and HILLS have their problems, I still think he's fucking great building suspense and executing the bloody. HIlls is my favourite, and I even trust him with the CGI thing (those make up enhancements in Hills are amazing). Come on Aja, justify my love.

It's been a while since I've seen "Into the Mirror" (the Korean original), but as far as I remember it maintained its "internal logic." That hands-coming-out-of-the-mirror thing is a Western-made fuckup.

which made all that came before illogical. Up to that point though....Aja's got some talent. This project though, sounds like some of the direct-to-DVD stuff Keifer would make prior to 24.

Thanks for the review bud, though your epistle has proven exactly why I think current studio policy regarding audience test screenings should change today rather than tomorrow. I mean, with all due respect, you obviously don't know the first thing about the topics you critique so fervently. Story structure, 'Characterization'... are you really an expert on these issues? Don't get me wrong, you're entitled to your opinion as much as anyone else, but couldn't we just leave it at that when it comes to test screenings: audience members checking either a 'Yes I Like' or 'I don't Like' box? Altering a film because of a Joe Public-analysis on story structure? No disrespect intended, but come on. O and two more things: you assumed you were watching a 'digital print'? How is this possible? You mean you watched a digital presentation on print? What? Secondly, 'as familiar as your own reflection', though kind of clever, is not a logline, but a TAGline.

It doesn't have a lot of what the trailer says in the remake (thank goodness) and a truly bizarre ending which I at least thought was something different that I hadn't seen anything like it before.

I love this director..I really had hope for this guy after watching Haute Tension and Hills Have Eyes. Mind you the ending for Haute Tension was illogical, but wow what a fun ride that movie was as well as Hills. Some real talent was put on display, and i'm really hoping his next couple films take advantage. Isn't he doing Piranha
Wow a well-written review.
