I was there... and it was fucking sad how little people were there. I felt bad for the MIT prof running the thing.

And for the record, I registered on-site on Friday, and it took me NINE HOURS to get through the line.
So, NewType's been replaced by PIQ?

Well, it would have been nice to learn that from someplace other than AICN. What a pointless and terrible transition between titles.

Good take on the whole state of the industry thing there Scott. Well, seems like downloading anime is only going to become more pronounced with less anime titles becoming available. I remember when I used to go nuts snatching up a heap of great series (that I'd already seen prior torrents), but it's seen a drastic drop just recently. Geneon closed it's doors which killed a number of series in mid-stride (and I can understand Rozen Maiden, but ADV isn't going to pick up Black Lagoon or Hellsing Ultimate, the fuck?), and then ADV nixed a another three or four series I was interested in getting.

I probably would still get them, but I'd rather wait and see if they actually get released in their entirety. Everything looks way too shaky, and ADV isn't exactly giving me a bunch of confidence on their ability to make good.
Anime Piracy...

I have to admit, I have recently begun to download anime online. I do this now, because Geneon is gone. The anime I want is no longer available to me for purchase on DVD. Kyo Kara Maoh for example was three DVD's away from finishing the second season release. Volume 7 was supposed to be released the day (my birthday coincidentally) that Geneon was to cease distribution and was listed as a few titles that were their last to be released. I waited months with no word and complained to the companies, I begged other companies to pick up the finished works and release them. Nothing. So, I turned to the download of torrents to suppliment my loss. I turned to them in order to finish the story I wanted to see and had spent three years collecting. I still watch and collect any Anime that I see on TV, but Toonami has reduced from four hours to two and Adult Swim doesn't give me anything other than their garbage and a few rare Anime titles. I think that if the Anime Industry is to survive, first they need to release the ocome together and release the titles still in limbo that have hurt fans like me, and then come together to release anime cheaply to fans that both respects us and offers us a means of enjoying Anime the way it was intended. It's not that hard... really.
