Flaming Pieces of Shit...

Romero's Day of the Dead is one of the finest horror films that I've ever seen. Now don't get me wrong, I love Dawn as much as anyone and its my favorite zombie film ever, but Day is just so damn visceral and hard... it's got one of the scariest soundtracks ever, the best zombie gore ever, "choke on 'em!", and Bud.

It may not be Romero's ultimate vision, but it's a damn good movie on its own and deserves much better than this hollow copy... if they couldn't improve on the original in any way, why bother with a flaccid piece of shit that's going direct to DVD? Why not just have Paris Hilton and the Backstreet Boys remake Casablanca and release it on YouTube, just to say they did? Seriously, damn...

Favorite Japanese imports??

I saw it a few months back at a test screening. That first review that was posted a few months back was dead on when it comes to what to exactly expect from this film. Considering it was a while after the AICN review that I got to see the test screening, and that it's still been even a few months longer after that (august if I recall), this piece of crap film is unsalvagable. That cool poster is nothing more than a trick to sucker people into wishful thinking that there is something worth while for the film. Unless they do some extensive reshoots, which is pretty much 60% of the film, there is absolutely no reason to watch this in theaters. This was a helluva lot worse than Land of the Dead, and I thought that was teetering between bad and mediocre.

How did such a ridiculously poor concept get into a zombie movie? The whole IDEA of zombies are that they eat human flesh. Some may have more residual instinct than others, but they ALL want to chow down on our entrails.

What a pile of shit, they should have thrown money at Snyder to do this flick right.

I've seen far worse zombie movies. It's enjoyable enough filler, I don't understand why it's getting torn apart so badly, did anyone really expect it to be good? It's like getting really angry that day old bread tastes stale.

I don't care about zombie-film remakes, but I just want to say that Romero should've directed the Resident Evil film. Why in the hell did they let Paul WS Anderson direc it, instead of Romero is beyond me.

It's not like Romero is actually a good director ya know...it's not that someone is remaking a classic. It's a clunky, stagy zombie movie.

Tom Savini directed it. It was a good try but ultimately disappointing I wonder how Romero felt about it.

I seem to recall the Savini directed remake (in color!) was an attempt for the producers to make some money off the property they already owned, since they got screwed in royalties with the original.
It's Complicated. Aversion to gun bullshit
by drewlicious
Mar 26th, 2008
02:19:52 PM
I hate seeing this in movies. Character in tense situation who hates guns but then is finally pushed too far. Come on. If it's life or death I would imagine that aversion would go right out the window. It's even flimsier when zombies are involved. Remember Diary of the Dead and that phoney baloney professor he didn't like guns yet was ex-military to some degree. It was just a stupid contrivance for a character to send a stupid message in a stupid movie that was an ill attempt at making somthing subversive.

This isn't the new Superbad, it's the new Hostel 2. Romero's own Diary of the Dead didn't get this amount of attention. And I'd say that it wasn't a remake of a good movie in the first place, but I guess the people here saw something in it that I didn't.

by changing Barbara from a wimpering semi catatonic to a imitation Ripley. Nice pokies by Pat Tallman but the movie's about the horror of Zombies, not Barbara's personal growth.
Romero's Resident Evil would have been worse
by BitterMan23
Mar 26th, 2008
02:54:30 PM
His script has been floating around for years. It's faithful to the game, but it's boring as hell and the stuff he DID change was awful. Anderson had the good sense to make a prequel and make his own story. His story SUCKED, but at least he didn't fuck with the games' story...
I thought Romero wrote the script for the NOTLD remake...

So I don't think he'd take issue with the changes to the story. I liked it. Tony Todd was in it too, that's always a plus.

NOTLD remake is ownable

the zombie effects were good. not too over the top. tony todd was solid, and patrica tallman taking control Ripley style in a tank top was enjoyable. most of the acting was bad, but it had some poignant moments- like her realizing you could just walk past the zombies, etc.
This movie was complete shit.

I can be considered a horror movie apologist. I can find something to like good in almost any movie considered to be horror, to the point of a fault. I couldn't find a single redeeming quality in this one, outside of the end credits.

1) "Some of the gore effects were cool, and I enjoyed a majority of the makeup effects."

2) "Even though they show a complete deterioration of the infected as soon as they change over, I kind of liked that since there really wasn't enough time that passed throughout the movie that would allow for any real decomposing of the undead."

TRANSLATION: If you liked the speedy Alien life cycle in the AvP movies cuz it was, like, less complicated, then this is the zombie movie for you!

3) "What the movie did poorly: Staying true to the original."

TRANSLATION: Yeah, this movie totally isn't like that lame, old, boring movie that all those geezers keep telling you is cool.

4) "teenagers can just stumble into corridors of this place and fool around"

TRANSLATION: There just might be some HAWT SEX in this movie!!!

5)"If a stupid lil Zombie romp is what you're looking for, and you have nothing else to do, then I'd say watch it just don't expect too much out of it."

TRANSLATION: Just shut the fuck up and go see the movie. You should just be happy that they're even making zombie movies, you fucking ingrate!

It sucked. Liked the actor who played bud, he was semi cute. Even mildly endearing as a zombie. They got rid of the learning zombies, replaced with love sick vegetarian zombies. the actor who played DR logan couldn't act. At all.. He was chewing up scenery like a nuclear weed wacker. Ving raines plays his idiotic army alternate, and of course gets eaten for it. The physics behind the big save is just stupid. They set off a bunch of rocket fuel and fill the entire bunker with flames... except the one little room that they are in. Oh, and apparently they aren't just zombies. they are spiderman zombies. Sticking to walls and walking on the roofs. They also disintigrate like buffy style vampires when exposed to flame.

"me and my buddies were hanging at T-bell talking to these chicks we know from our english class.
then this one chick says shes got this early version of 'day of the dead' at her dad's house and he's gone for the weekend.
so we figure, score! and go back to her house to watch it.
well travis was making out with amy the whole time so he didnt watch the movie, but tasha (the girl i was trying to make out with) was a frigid bitch, so i watched the whole gay movie.
i guess it was alright. i mean there were some cool deaths and stuff, but lots of the talking the gay. and some of it was stupid.
that black guy the first zombie movie they made (the shopping mall one which was pretty cool and gay too)was in it, and he was cool i guess.

so yeah, if you want to use this call me "Shake and Bake!"

thanks.

I'm a huge fan of zombie movies so I found this movie on the interweb and watched it a few weeks ago. Let me just say that this movie is terrible. The acting is so bad that it's funny. Nick Cannon becomes a bow wielding super zombie killer half way throught the film and Mina Suvari does the worst job acting like a soldier since... well, probably the first Day of the Dead came out. However, this movie has very interesting zombies in it. They are fast. They set up traps. They ambush people. They kick ass but they're wasted in this movie. I know that some fans believe that zombies should be slow and dumb but I like the idea of learning Zombies. It brings something fresh to a dead genre.haha. If you're a die hard zombie fan and can put up with terrible acting a piss poor plot then this is probably worth renting but otherwise, stay away from it. Also, read The Walking Dead! All my friends who enjoy Zombie movies loved it, even the ones who don't read graphic novels.
should'nt this shit be available on DVD by now?

I gave my own "review" over a month ago. what a shitty film with the exception of fast moving zombies. As for Nick's casting, I guess they could'nt get ahold of dave Chapelle.

Yeah, I'm glad Romero did'nt direct the RE Movie since his script was so shitty. Chris Redfield a native American while bumping uglies with jill valentine? ehh nice try georgy.
