I've already seen this movie! It's called Saving Star Wars. It came out a couple of years ago. Sure it's a small budget independent film...but it least it came out. Freaking awesome. Oh yeah....the kid had cancer (we think) in that movie too!

The Signal and Southland Tales. Have these never ending release battles in the end they just get pooped out on like 400 or so screens (if that) and don't make a dime? Where crap like Dungon Seige, D-wars, P2, Dead Silence, and so forth get fucking diareahhed all over the fucking place and you can see them in the most po-dunk town of George W.'s USA? And while they don't make amazing money, people actually hear about them and they make a couple million? Seriously? How fucking hard was it to market the movie Sunshine? Like no one I know knows what the fuck that movie is. It could've been huge, if marketed right I bet it could've broken 100 mill. Instead I waited in line at the one theater is was showing at for ONE weekend. And heard dipshits in front of me saying? "Whats Sunshine? Oh well, (2) for Hairspray! I love this movie its my second time!" Fanboys looks like it cost about as much as I have in the bank right now to make, you could easily make back the money in opening weekend. It just blows my mind when the Brothers Jew and Fox Searchlight spend forever trying to get these dumb indie wannabie comedies out (along with Juno and Little Miss Sunshine), movies that they probably only had to by the rights to. While shitting the bed with movies that were not cheap to make and in some cases actually financed (Grindhouse, Day/Night Watch, Sunshine)? Does any one got an explenation?

Well, I'm not sure how Southland Tales got made in the first place, considering how absolutely shitty it was. At least D-Wars and Dungeon Siege were fun to watch, albeit horrible. I love when geeks say they're going to boycott something. Grosses always end up higher. Superhero movie looks good, a hell of a lot better than date and epic and that Spartans nonsense anyway. Can't say no to Leslie Neilsen.

I used to have nothing but respect for the Weinsteins. Sure they were always kinda assholes but they still brought us amazing movies at a time when cinema as a whole was sinking deeper and deeper into that abyss. But this is just ridiculous. I honestly cannot fathom why they are being so damned stubborn on this film. Can anyone help me out with a possible motive here?

Both masters should be dangling above the cage and the victor gets to pitch the version they don't want into a flaming trashcan. It looks like the makers of Fanboy are gonna win, but as the director scales the chain to grab the no-cancer version for immolation, Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino run into the ring and choke slam him through a wedding cake. The Weinsteins burn the original cancer version of Fanboys and light cigars in the fire, macho posturing as the audience pelts them with empy beer cups and popcorn. Then they put the whole match on the special two disc edition featuring both cuts (because the original version miraculously survives somehow) and clean up.

God, where to begin? The release was delayed for years, one date after another announced and then abandoned. The title was changed to KUNG FU SOCCER for long enough to show up in Entertainment Weekly's seasonal preview as such, with picture. There were at least two different versions of the English dub along the way, both cut, one cut more heavily. One of them featured Stephen Chow doing his own English dubbing and one didn't, and the other cast members got the "me likey fried lice" exaggurated Chinese accents on one or the other of the English dubs, as Miramax/Weinstein Company simply loves to do. After fans complained and the HK dvd had been out for ages, uncut, Miramax publicly relented and decided to do a limited release in Cantonese - of one of their cut variants of the film, minus the English dub. The poster/DVD art sucked extra hard as well, with the person on the cover bearing no resemblance at all to Stephen Chow, in a situation bearing no resemblance to the film. The eventual Miramax DVD featured hopelessly incomplete and mistranslated subs on the full length uncut version of the film. This treatment wasn't unusual, what was unusual was that people (mostly not STAR WARS fans, obviously) were paying a bit of attention to how bad this acclaimed, successful movie was getting abused.
