Why another remake?

Because Hollywood's run dry with ideas. I can't wait until the start remaking the remakes that were remade just a few years ago.

Coincidence? Kevin Shields probably got wind of this remake and realized the soundtrack tie-in possibilities. Or probably not.
Saying that, Lost in Translation = Great OST!

But it's still fun watching horny teenagers pass joints to the audience, and poke spears at "Jason", through the screen.
remake tax

Studio execs should be taxed 1 (one) testicle per remake/reimagining/reboot they greenlight. If, by clear majority vote of us, the internet movie geek community (one geek=one vote=one point) the remake/reimagining/reboot has artistic merit justifying its existence (vis Casino Royale, Batman Begins), they get a free pass to attempt 1 (one) further remake/reimagining/reboot, without threat of loss of remaining testicle (if still in possesssion of one). Only 1 (one) "free pass" can be granted during the lifetime career of each "exec". If, by clear majority, the remake/reimagining/reboot has ZERO artistic merit justifying its existence (vis Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etcetera, ad nauseam) the exec forfeits their remaining testicle, or, not being in possession of said remaining testicle, their choice of 1 (one) of tongue/all fingers/all eyes.

I'm just trying to incentivise creativity, here, and I think this could help.

Have any of these 80's horror remakes made any money during their theatrical runs? Or is it all in DVD/Blu-Ray sales?
Bah.

If it's not a biopic about Kenvin Sheilds and gang, I could care less.
Or Shields even.

Film it from inside the dryer this time. A new dimension in torture porn. And while you're at it, ask her where my other sock is.

As long as a directors cut of the original

surfaces on DVD because of this, I'm all for it. Apparently the director (or maybe it's the producer) of the original My Bloody Valentine has the footage that was cut for the MPAA back in '81, but Paramount doesn't feel like releasing it on DVD. The original (like The Burning) is a notorious example of a film being hacked up to get an R rating. Maybe they're going to change their mind now with the remake coming.

are wonderful, wonderful films that demonstrate horror film theory incredibly well. Black Christmas too. The killer in this would stop murdering people if they just cancelled the Valentine's Day dance, but obviously the town can't do that!

Any chance we can get some gimmicky movies not unlike the William Castle flicks in his heydey (sp?). If we're going the 3-D route to get butts back in seats in the theaters and away from those newfangled televisions we can at least get some gimmicky horror flicks.
Seriously, if there's any movie that needs to be remade in 3D

It has to be Creature From The Black Lagoon. That would rock so much I'd go out and spend the $13 to see it in 3D

Tickets to see the original as it was made to be would have to go down as one of the best B-day gifts I've ever received. It was remade without the 3D, only they replaced the creature with a big ass anaconda. I'd prefer they leave it alone after that. Just let it be.

Disturbed me for years. Remember when the girl is hung in the shower and water comes out of her mouth. Or when the guy gets the drillbit in his head, fat guy looks like Harry. Man, this movie had a chilling ending with the whistling and what not. Err...... gives me chills.
I love this movie

Atmosphere is everything! I think the reason I love this movie is that it wasn't all filmed on sound stages. The same goes for the first (and still the best) Friday the 13th.
