I bought it to show my support and thought the extras were great, but the picture quality of the film was sub-par. This is particularly annoying since there is a DVD version floating around the internets which was made from an HD broadcast which is almost absurdly better looking than the official release. It is truly sad when fans start putting together better mastered DVDs than the studios do.

There's also a HD Night of the Creeps out there too as well as one with both endings. Let's hope the official release looks better than Monster Squad.

She is very, very cool. Don't criticize what you don't know. So there douche! The New Beverly Cinema is the greatest movie theatre on earth. Last nights Squad/Creeps show was incredible. Great title for a pulp novel. Doc (love your handle by the way): How old do you think this Yobo kid (along with Skywalker Family) is? Like a lot of other teenage blowhards on this site he talks a bunch of shit (and it is SHIT not SHITE in this country. If you're posting from Ireland, feel free to use shite but anyone else, please give it a rest)about things that he hasn't a clue about. I called him on his pissy rant on how anyone wanting to be a producer was talentless scum and he shut up real quick. I asked him if he was ever on a film set or a production office ane never heard a peep. At least he's not doing his usual attack on Harry.

it's the part later in the movie where dracula is standing outside a house holding dynamite and the cops are about to engage him in a standoff, and one of the officers uses his radio and says, "dispatch, we have a 328! we need back-up!" (or something to that effect). was watching it with a bunch of drunk friends a few months ago, and that line just made us all howl with laughter. the notion that code 328 meant "vampire menacing civilian household with explosives" became a running joke among us. that said, have absolutely loved "monster squad" since i first watched it with all my friends at my 10th (or was it 9th?) birthday party and would kill to have a blu-ray dvd i could play on my newly purchased ps3.

"Except you can't drink" (which prompted some dude near the front to raise a beer he had smuggled in, so I guess you "can"). And agree on Julia the moderator/ticket seller/whatever else needs to be done girl, she knows her shit. Which is surprisingly rare in LA; most of the ushers at other theaters are complete dolts. New Bev rules. And Dekker was a great guest, honest and informative. Best 7 bucks I spent all week.

So why avoid the question? What is your job? As to what Kevin eats. Why don't you ask him. Oh wait, I forgot. You don't work on movies. You just write tear apart other people's work with your snarky posts instead of actually writing a sellable screenplay. Y'know. Like Kevin Smith did.

That's strange because I've never heard anybody that I've ever worked with refer to them as suits. A whole bunch of other less flattering names but never suits. As for their contributions, if you think that all they do is completely fuck up some artiste's vision with their money-grubbing ways, then again you have no idea of what you're talking about. Again, I ask you guys: What do you do for a living and how old are you? For the record, I don't know Kevin Smith. If you call being speaking directly to somebody once or twice and then never having another word of conversation with them ever again as "knowing them" then I guess that I know him.

The guy sounds like a really decent guy indeed. I remember a Shane Black interview about 10 years ago where he praised Dekker for being a talented, down to earth dude who got really disgusted and lost his mojo due to the RoboCop 3 debacle. Sad.

I mean, RoboCop 3 was a mess, but I re-watched it last month in a RoboCop marathon (while I was homesick - explains a lot) and it was not as terrible as I remembered (RoboCop 2 is also much better than some say IMHO). And the first one kicks so much ass that I can't wait for the Topkapi Affair to be a smash hit (hopefully) so Vehoeven is bankable again and is given the bidget he wanted to make a fourth installment a few years ago - Neumeier even wrote a treatment. THAT would be cool. Hear this, Sony? It's Verhoeven or bust!

I had fond memories of Monster Squad...
by ZeroCorpse
Mar 23rd, 2008

And then I re-watched it as an adult. Hoo-boy! That was a mistake! It's not very good!

Sure, it was cool when I was young and naive, but now? Now it holds up terribly. It's silly and badly-scripted. It plays off like a "Goonies" wannabe that isn't anywhere near "Goonies" quality. I'm sad to say it, but "Monster Squad" is Not For Me anymore.

Is it a decent kids' movie? Yes, as long as you're in a fairly liberal household and don't mind a few curse words and scares. Is it meant for adults? Nope. Not unless they're mentally disabled.

I showed this DVD to another adult, telling them it was "a great movie", and as we sat through it, my sense of embarrassment grew. At the end of it, I had to apologize for subjecting them to "Monster Squad" because the reality sure as fuck didn't live up to the memory of this movie.

So you'll forgive me if I don't have "Monster Squad" in my DVD library, but I do have "Dawn of the Dead (2004)" in my collection. I'm sorry, but the guy who made "Monster Squad" questioning the quality or right-to-exist of "Dawn of the Dead (2004)" is just downright ludicrous. One made a "Goonies" rip-off with Universal Monsters in it, and the other made a "Dawn of the Dead" remake with some interesting new twists on the genre, a lot of gore, and conversations that get above the level of "Wolfman has nards."

I used to love (LOVE) "Monster Squad", and now I just sort of wish I could forget about it.

Is one of the alltime classic 80s horror films, which deserves its own genre (80s horror films that is). This film needs to come out with both endings available on the DVD, along with every other special feature imaginable for making us wait this long. SONY can suck a cow nut for keeping all us fans from having it on DVD. I have to watch my old vhs copy or wait for it to come on tv to watch it these days. THAT'S NOT ENOUGH. It's Miller Time, and it's time to step up to the plate and give this classic the release it deserves!!! I've been tooting this horn for years. Amazon has a veritible talkback in it's feedback for vhs availability. Same for IMDB.
