Sorry man. Haha. I almost didn't post at all, since I have little/no interest in another Street Fighter movie, but I saw the opportunity to be first in a talkback (something I've never been before), so I just went for it. Anyway, this guy's a good actor (Ravenous rules), but I doubt this film will break the mold of video game movies sucking big time.

ravenous rules???? seriously??? that must be one of THE worst movies I have ever seen (and I even seen lot's of shitty international movies) As for this movie, I like this guy, but it all rests on the shoulders of Ryu and Ken really, then need to find the right actors....with the right story (it can actually be good, at least in MY mind).

But this one is bound to BIG-TIME! Why, Why, Why would you cast Kristin Kreuk in anything except maybe a Smallville movie? She is a walking stick-insect, she has no body or curves to suggest one; and they pick her to play Chun Li, a character who has all the curves and the thunder thighs to emphasize them! That alone tells you where this film is going.. to box office hell.

This thing seems like it's just taking the same road as the first film. I know many of you aren't really "into" the Street Fighter storyline but it is a really cool good vs. evil martial arts saga(as cool as that can be anyway). My understanding is that this film is going to be based on Chun Li and all the other characters will take a back seat. Now I know I'm going to sound like a crazy man but that is like making a Star Wars movie and centering the whole thing on Leia, and then leaving Luke and Han out completly. The Street Fighter story is about Ryu and Ken, but hey lets cash in on the "hot chick kicking ass" as our lead thing. Anyway after posting this mammothly nerdy comment I'll probably never get laid again... P.S. Check out the Udon Comics Street Fighter series ad see why this is a pretty good occult martial arts story.

See, that's just seppuku right there. Hiring Chris Klein on any movie, no matter what size role, is like shooting yourself in the head with a shotgun. There's no chance of this movie being successful. Ever. Unless Van Damme and Chuckie boy "I Eat Babies" Norris have anything to do about it.

1994 movie was genius? I can't believe my eyes. I'm not at all picky when it comes to crappy action fare, I loved Mortal Kombat, and really dug that street fighter anime with the 90s rock soundtrack, but the fucking 94 live action street fighter, are you serious? that shit KILLED Raul Julia (HORRIBLE casting by the way, M.Bison is diabolical, but he's also a semi-roided out psychotic street-FIGHTER, not an eloquent mouth piece with some gadgets), not to mention killed my main man Jean Claude's career. Ryu is supposed to be the protaganist anyway (and that ryu was a pussy) not some american douche bag - whether or not he can make tricks with bricks. This is probably the only movie in the history of movies that would have been better if that cracker who directed Mortal Kombat hacked it out.

This film being titled Streetfighter: The legend of Chun Li.. Seems to be going off on the wrong path just like that 1994 bollocks with Jean Claude Van Act-less and Kylie Mini-woman. Streetfighter is predominantly a story about Ken and Ryu, the other characters are basically formed around them. This film is doomed again because it's trying to redefine something already time-honoured and definitive. Besides, is this game still even popular enough for anyone to care about another shit movie? I'd be far more interested in a Tekken or Sould Blade/Calibur flick.

If you actually think a "good" movie can come from a goddamn fighting game, that's one thing. But to actually expect something better than, as Harry put it, the '94 camp classic is just living in your own geeky universe.

If they are going to center the story around Chun-Li's revenge, they should do it along the lines of "Street Fighter 2: The Animated Movie". AND ADD SOME REAL GODDAMN FIREBALLS THIS TIME!!!

The first STREET FIGHTER movie should have starred Michael Dudikoff as Guile, not least because the character in the game was modelled on Dudikoff in the Cannon movie AMERICAN NINJA. They should have left out the second string characters that didn't belong in the same story together (I'm looking at Dhalsim, Balrog and E.Honda from WORLD WARRIORS, DeeJay and Thunderhawk from SUPER SF II). Dolph Lundgren was born to play Sagat. M. Bison should have been Ralph Moeller (BEST OF THE BEST 2, GLADIATOR, BEERFEST). Lose the foreign coup and liberation by the 'Allied Nations', led by 'General Guile', and most of all the global live news device. But, I guess that would have it another movie totally. Which would have been fine.

...my favorite guilty pleasure movie. Sure, it's terrible, but the movie doesn't take itself seriously and it's one big parody movie. Raul Julia trying to blast the good guys up in the water using the modified Capcom JAMMA arcade controller. Zagrief asking idiotic question to himself in one embarrassing scene, as though it's scripted to humiliate the burly actor. Guile magically floating beeline from the elevator to air-kick M Bison. The transformation scene with Blanka and his behaving moronic. Yes, I'd like to believe the movie revels in self-parody, acknowledging it's made for a quick BO cash-in like TMNT the movie in 1990. At least Street Fighter is better than the awful Double Dragon the movie. Harry, I suggest finding Double Dragon comic book series published by Marvel circa 1991 (#1-6) -- believe it or not, it's an entertaining comic that is a dozen times better than enduring the atrocity of Double Dragon movie bomb.

I doubt you'd get a reputable director to come anywhere near this. And no one would dare take it very seriously. If the guy managed to make at least that ONE cool little FPS sequence in Doom there's no doubt he can make at least one decent fight scene in this, a movie based on an arcade fighting game. I do like this casting. This guy's played some real asshole characters.

no storyline there either, but the fight scenes beat anything in the live-action abomination. especially the end fight - ken vs ryu vs m.bison. of course, then there's that naked chun-li vs vega scene.

japanese animator with pencils(no cgi back then) has more imagination in one brain cell than hollywood fight choreographers have in their entire collective heads. thank god woo ping has crossed over.

the '94 movie is "genius"??? watched enough kungfu movies growing up here in asia, i'm glad i can at least see when a fighting movie is on opposite end of genius.

just found that's the movie title. i have only but one response: what the hell is wrong u, hollywood!!!!

14 years after the first abomination, and still they're going for another shit. ryu IS and has always been the main star. i can understand them choosing guile to be the star back then, but in the age when jet li and jackie chan have crossed over to the american mainstream, in the age of crouching tiger, can't they now believe that a movie with an japanese/asian as the lead be marketable?

apparently not. and then there's this from wikipedia: "Jean-Claude Van Damme, who played Guile in the 1994 live-action Street Fighter movie, confirmed that he was approached and offered a part in this movie but he turned it down because according to him, he is now being careful in picking parts."

i dont know what's scarier, that last sentence, or the fact that they even thought of approaching van damme in the first place. like we need a reminder of the old movie . "genius" is defintely the minds behind this new movie.
