Replaced by that new lame high school sit-com that Kelso from "that '70s Show" is using Bruno's ex-wife's production company running expertise to produce. I saw the "preview" episode of Miss Manners or Miss Begotten or Miss Guided the other night and my Ghod it was arfull. Gee, and the ads were so promising, who would suspect a show touted with the tag line "the new series from the creator of punkt" would suck out loud in so many disturbing ways?

You know how much better than Unhitched or Quarterlife "Miss Guided" is? [holds thumb and forefinger together, but not tightly] "This much better."

So, who dies, do ya think?
by Napoleon Park

NOT asking for spoilers, just speculations.

I'm thinking it's Claire and Jin as the front runners.

But my wacky comedic remark is that it will be the unused twenty of the original Flight 815 survivors who all get redshirted at once in a massive attack. Joanna drowned herself, Scott (or Steve) got Ethaned, the guy with glasses was never heard from again, Dr. Arzt blew up real good and the fans hated Nikki and Paulo so much they were buried alive to thunderous applause.

It was always surmised that the rest of the original 48 passengers were just there to fill the background scenes and to serve as red shirts and cannon fodder and "victims of the monster" or as polar bear chow. If those couple dozen non-characters were only created to die, let's get on with it and kill them already.

RIP Out of focus girl walking around in the background in a bikini, we never knew you.

Who Dies?

I speculate that Ken Leung's character dies... he's had that grenade in his mouth a long as time... either than or someone else from the boat, i really don't want any main character's to die....

I really hope they explain what' michael's been up to,

and where did the helecopter go? is the trip to the Island faster than the trip back to the boat?

possible spoilers ************************* since the chick that plays libby is supposed to guest star, i figure that she'll be in michael's flashback, and i'm only guessing it's a flashback because it's supposed to be michael centrick, but it seems like a safe assumption...

that we keep going until Lost returns in late April. And I managed to get my user name name-checked in the subject line of two of the first two dozen posts. My ego is so massaged now. Weird to see a Lost talk-back posted this early and to be jumping in this early. Strange to see the PREVIOUS Lost talk-balk in the top ten and the new one not. Let's hear some chatter. Someone post major spoilers we can all shun, refuse to read or bitch about. Someone start a troll fight. Let's get this show on the road.

Good speculation, Rokur. I think that's how this episode ends: someone walks into the shed, finds Miles with a saliva soaked grenade still in his mouth and takes it out and... (BOOM!!!).... Lost...

I recently quit my job as a camerman for of the local news affiliates. The work politics were ridiculous, and i don't think the people at the local station understand the meaning of journalistic integrity, and i fucking can't stand dishonesty, and being around people that purpously sabotage the quality of other peoples work, so i quit.... of course now i have no job which sux... but hey i have lots of free time to sit on the couch. I had never watched the tv show "Angel" before, and it airs in the middle of the night, and lucky me, just started over from the beginning of the 1st season....

I also have video games like guitar hero 3 to keep me occupied...

unfortunately nobody in my family was ever into sports so I never got into sports.... i'll watch stuff like the world series, or the playoffs, and the superbowl, but thats about it....

on the LOST front, i am REALLLLY looking forward to tonights episode.....

but after this week it looks like it's going to be a slow month or two for television....

At least on April 4th, we will finally be privledged enough to watch some new BSG.......

Doctor Zee: Dead Gilligans.
by Napoleon Park
Mar 20th, 2008
07:59:02 AM
I see where you're coming from with Hurley as Gilligan, but he IS the Millionaire. Lottery winner. The Numbers. Remember?

And Sayid is totally the Professor. Claire is the MaryAnn, that Beyotch Shannon was the Ginger.

No, wait, maybe Boone and Shannon were the Howells - "the millionaire and his wife". Nikki, an actress, would be Ginger then and what could be more Gilliganesque than the way Dr. Arzt blewed hisself up? "Dude, you got Gilligan on you." Hmmm, if we're playing "Dead Gilligans", that would make "the Pilot" (or Matt Parkman as Heroes fans like to call him) The Skipper. But then Dr. Arzt would be the Professor and Libby would be the MaryAnn. Making Charlie Gilligan! Making The Dharma Initiative the Harlem Globetrotters.

See, it all makes sense, it's the Lostverses way of killing off the Gilligan's Island comparisons by eliminating every Lost Island counterpart to a Gilligan character.

[Checks Lost Talk-Back checklist: ridiculous theory that actually seems to make sense unless you think about it... check.]

I'm looking forward to this episode more than any other so far this year. (I was looking forward to The Constant, but had no idea it would be as amazing as it was.)

Things I am looking forward to tonight:

Finding out what Michael was doing when he was off the island.

Finding out how Michael managed to get on the boat with a brand new identity in such a short period of time.

Finding out how he is communicating with Ben, who seems to have a ton of information about the freighter people, but no real way of getting that info.

Possibly finding out more about the staged wreck at the bottom of the ocean.

Waaaaaaaaaalllllllttttt!

I'm sure there's more, but that's all I've got for the moment.

My top theories on where Michael's been
by Fount of Useless Info
Mar 20th, 2008
09:53:49 AM
1. Back in time. It explains how he has established the new identity quickly and helps the show deal with Walt's aging.

2. He was always a spy for Ben's group. It's why he never went to see Walt when he was young, how the Others knew to go after the raft, and how he was able to have a new identity quickly...he already had it.

3. He never made it home. He was adrift on the boat until he ran into the freighter. Unfortunately this doesn't explain much and doesn't match up with some of the things rumored to happen in the episode.

4. Kevin Johnson isn't Michael, at least, not the same one that was on the plane. We've seen (or most of us have) the Orchid video and there is a duplicate Michael. (The Prestige, FTW?)

5. Magic Walt has learned more about his powers and was able to change reality rather than just crash birds into windows. By manipulating reality Walt made it where he and his father never got on the plane, and they have been trying to get back to save people ever since.

Ok, my theories are getting more and more absurd, so I think I'll stop guessing and just have to wait to find out.

It's interesting to see Ben actually seem to care about someone. Alex is the only one he shows any concern about that isn't completely self-interest. I don't know if he has any new information, but he's been trying to get Alex hidden away since he found out the freighter people were coming. This makes me wonder if he really has more connection to her than just an adopted (adopted, kidnapped...it's a fine line.) daughter. Perhaps Danille isn't as honest as she seems or is more crazy than she seems...if that's possible.

I think Libby was the only Oceanic survivor we didnt get a direct flashback on. We never knew what the hell was up with her in the Hurley asylum and didnt she give Desmond the yacht? So she will feature in Michaels flashback but how? If its just the shooting, then why isnt Luciana a guest appearance too? Maybe she haunts Michael!! That would be cool. Michael (or Kevin) is one character I dont know what the hell to think of. I dont know wether to sympathise with him or curse him. Would I do what he did for the sake of my son? Man, I really dont know. He killed 2 women and one of them hot! Damn. When he shot Luciana, my heart bloody leaped into my mouth. For me that was the most shock moment in all of Lost, probably on any show.

I don't want them to ignore what Michael did, but let me ask you something, if you had a child and could save him but only by killing two people, would you at least stop to think it over before saying no? Also, remember that he didn't go in there intending to kill multiple people, just to set Ben free. I'm not saying what he did was right, because it wasn't, but I'm saying that there are plenty of people who can see that he had few choices.

I think a combo of your 1 and 2 theories would be awesome. The back in time theory works because Ben gave him exact coordinates to get off the island knowing he could use him in the past as a spy. This time travel thing is really tricky though.

Yeah I'm sure they are going to flesh out the Ben and Alex storyline some more. She really is the only person he cares about well besides his boyish love for Juliet. Creepy dude there.

Truce, jocks. You're right, I don't come here to start troll wars.

I do mention other shows I watch about once a week here just as a way of kidding the truly devoted Lost fanatics who seem to believe that there's only one good hour of television per week - or the more typical AICN kids who seem to think that if it ain't sci-fi/fantasy, it's crap. {Todays "tape Eli/watch Lipstick season finale" comment was specifically a spoof of last weeks spate of "tape Lost, watch Reaper" posts. New Reaper tonight, by the way.)

As for the challenge to post something about Lost to try to stimulate some discussion of the show, I refer you to "So Who Dies? (2.12.52) and "Dead Gilligans" (7.59.02) as evidence that I am making the effort.

To Node and Fount and any other sports fans here, my apologies. F's right, my scroll wheel works just fine. I already scroll past the trolls hurling insults back and forth like monkeys flinnging so much dung, if people come here to discuss athletes I'll just add them to the list of names of posters whose contributions warrent ignoring. Feel free to discuss sports all you want, I just wanted to go on record as having expressed my disinterest - I'll drop it now if you want to get in a last word. Peace and Namaste.

Miles and Ben Stiller
by Youguysgotanymilk

I posted awhile back about the ultimate Lost actor spotting. Check out a movie made in the late 90's called "Keeping The Faith". It stars Ben Stiller and Edward Norton as a rabi and a priest both fighting over the same girl.

I caught part of it a few weeks back and there is a scene where they go to buy a karaoke (?) machine. This asian guy comes in singing a really bad version of Jesse's Girl by Rick Springfield.

It is none other than Mister "I see dead people and eat grenades for breakfast" Miles himself. He is doing this horrible stereotypical asian accent. Then he stops and says "alright I'll sell it to you straight" and he is doing his normal voice.

It was so damn funny to see him acting like that after seeing him on Lost. You have to check it out.

Michael, 300, the NCAA and partying
by Napoleon Park
Mar 20th, 2008
10:25:06 AM
Someone asked if I was a 300 fan. Is that a euphemism for something, like "Do you like gladiator movies"? No, I never read the comic or saw the movie, though I was glad to see it succeed at the box office and I do think the Sin City/300 style of movie making by using the comic book as a story board or template and trying to capture that look, feel and pacing is the way to go.

My first thought was that NCAA was the organization that issues the Comics Code Approval stamp on newsstand distributed comic books.

Luciana? You mean Ana Lucia? Or AnaL as her AICN Lost talk-back fans call her.

Would Michael murder two women under orders in order to save his son? No doubt, but I think what actually happened was that he came specifically to assassinate Ana Lucia and Libby walked in, surprised him, he pointed the gun and popped her. I don't think that was deliberate or part of any master plan (other than the possible master plan to get the drunk party girls off the show.)

I have an antisocial question. Hawaii produces the best quality domestic marijuana in the United States and it's expensive - heck, it was expensive in 1978 the last time I saw any - but these hit show actors must be able to afford it. So why are they drinking alcohol? Or is it that stoners just lay back and mellow out and the drinkers go driving around getting caught? Don't smoke pot, kids; it's expensive and illegal. Don't drink and drive either; it's potentially lethal, and not just because Michael will shoot you when you get home.

Side effects and Michael
by Bobo walks like a man
Mar 20th, 2008
10:28:53 AM
So to get off the island you have to take a certain path out, or you can get side effects (a la Mink and Des). I think this has more to do with spacetime and how that relates to what happens on the island. Time moves slower on the island. This was clear by the missle thing Faraday had fired off. The time was off. Relativity states that if you move at high velocities, your time will slow down according to an observer in a different inertial reference frame. This also applies to large gravitational fields (time moves slower closer to the earth than further out because spacetime is more warped). So, the large electro magnetic forces have an effect on this island and that can be translated by a larger gravitational field. The high EM (the EMF Hatch that Des blew up) could be attributed to higher gravitational fields and therefore the gravity pulls the electromagnetic energy in. Like a black hole does to light. So, my theory is time is definately warping on the island (supported also by light behaving differently according to Faraday). This is all I got so far. I'm sorry, I just wasted someone's time...

What ever his reason and story for working for Ben, he may realise or pursuade Sayid to take his place to protect "the others". We know Sayid will work for Ben, so this episode may be the turning point for him. Michael will die perhaps for redemption, or saving someone, or just plain gives up on his miserable life. Does he know where Walt is? Perhaps he think he is dead? But I am placing a bet on Michael.

I what I read was correc and we get to see a little more into bearded Jack's future and his attempted suicide, then it must be Michael in the coffin. He is the only person they know, besides Ben, who has sucessfully left the island and made it back (or close enough). When Jack finds out that Michael is dead, he looses all hope of ever returning to the island and tries to kill himself. It seems to make sense.

Unless Michael dies in tonights episode, then I'm calling Ben in the coffin.

Good point, but there are lots of things I could "consider" before rejecting them out of hand. Saying "sorry" to AnaL and then ending her should make him the most hated character on the show (by the good-guy types on the show) for all time. If the writers start trying to ignore what happened before (very common on LOST) to bring him back into the fold with the hero characters, that won't sit well with me.

The problem with that theory is that Michael has been gone for only a month. That's not very long for him to go home, establish a new ID, work his way into the trust of people in charge of the freighter, get on the freighter and get shipped out. There has to be more than just "they aged fast."

Basically, we know people cant get close to the island and leave with out getting sick. (Fisher Stevens and Desmond, and the other guy). Desmond got sick because he was there when the hatch exploded. So who wasn't near the Hatch when it exploded..Hurley (O sixer, check), Jack (check), Kate (check), Sawyer (no check ?), Sayid (check), Jin and Sun (check). Does this factor into who is allowed to leave and who doesn't? Makes sense.

When it comes back though it will only be a few hours before my Birthday so it's like an early present. Last year the D.O.C. episode aired on my birthday. So this should be nice for me. And hey, Battlestar Galactica will be airing new episodes and on Friday's so there will be a new BSG on my actual Birthday. Double Dose! Awesome.

I absolutely want them to be furious with Michael and demand answers from him. I even would expect some people to be violent before others are able to calm them down. I'm just saying that from a writing perspective, the character is not beyond redemption. He did what he felt he had to do (as did Locke, who murdered Naomi) but I'm hoping that the Michael we meet tonight is a man who is eaten alive by guilt over what he has done.

However, this brings up an interesting question. Does anyone know that Michael killed Ana and Libby or just that he betrayed Jack, Sawyer, Kate and Hurley? They may all still think Ben killed A and L and shot Michael.

time difference

Mar 20th, 2008
12:00:07 PM
No, the difference isn't 1 to 30. It's the same date both places. The difference occurs in the travel not the destination. Look at the helicopter trip; it took them a long time from the perspective of the island and from the perspective of the freighter, but from the perspective of the people on the helicopter it was around 20 minutes or so, which is why Sayid was confused. The clocks in the experiment were not synchronized because one was running in "normal" time (i.e. relative to the people), but the other clock advanced relative to the rocket.

since he admitted as much to all of them, once Sayid realized Michael had been compromised. As for the person in the coffin, its Michael or Locke, I am convinced its one of the two. With an outside possibility it could be Locke. Its my understanding, chronologically speaking, the flashforwards have been presented to us in reverse order. Meaning the first flashforward, ei jacks meltdown in the S3 finale, is the flashback furtherest into the future. And obviously it is aligned with the fact, the last flashforward we have been presented, Sun's, is the earliest flashforward.

I've got a presentation in less than an hour, so I really need to stop posting here. But here are a few things to think about which came up in last week's episode.

Sun just had her baby which was conceived more than a month after being on the island. Their story claims that Jin died in the crash. Is she trying to convince everyone including her doctors that she was already pregnant and is giving birth very early?

There is a plane at the bottom of the ocean with a bunch of dead bodies. There have been press conferences and family notifications and all sorts of news coverage, so everyone knows about this. How can they possibly explain 6 living people?

Where did the black box come from? Is it the real black box or from the fake plane? If it's from the fake, who cares if anyone has it. If it's from the real plane, how did Widmore get it before finding the island?

Did Ben really plant the fake plane? If not, who did and why?

that we don't actually know at what point in time after Sun is rescued that Ji Yeon is born do we? Until we DO know it's hard to say what her story is about the pregnancy.

I wanna believe the note to Sayid, and in effect NOT believe the captain. What I'm more inclined to question is where one would get 324 bodies to place in a fake crash site. This coincides with a theory that Widmore set up the fake wreckage so as to not let anyone else go looking for the island.

Usually its the person who has the flashback. Not always the case though. Ana Lucia, Mr Eko, Shannon, Jin (and Nikki and Paulo!) all died on their flashback episodes. Jin may not be dead, so question mark there. Exceptions are Charlie, Libby, and Boon. Charlie and Boon die on Jack's flashback/forward. and Libby died with Ana on Ana's flashback. So if we are going to have a main character death, strong possibility, it will be Michael.

Think there's anything significant (apart from its distance from the actual crash site) about having the decoy plane placed there? I think the trench is just well known and therefore a pop reference by the writers. Its meant to tease our Easter Egg-centric friends. Also, it could explain why they were looking for crashed freighters there, the tsunami would have been the cause for the wrecks and made the Sunda Trench ideal for rover dives. The crash was staged there to be relatively far from the actual location of the island by Ben, I believe. Its a ploy to throw off the Widmore. The Wid, if you will.

In any case, I do think both these elements are related to how and why they were the ones to survive the crash. A little over 3 hours to go!!!

Have to say some crazy stuff in it, and some of it might make more sense if you are high whilst reading it. But its a very interesting examination of human perceptions and religions. Think the past life aspects, time travel of information could all be very relevant to LOST. Also think I could connect a lot of other things to LOST, but I might be seeing too much into it.

by Jack_Bauer

07:19:04 PM
Signing a 7 year contract doesn't mean he has to be on the show for 7 years, it means that the show has the option of using him for up to 7 years. If he is killed off the contract gets terminated, and any additional episodes they are in are renegotiated as seperate deals. That's the way i've always understood it.

I followed lost from the beginning until the middle of season 2, after Eko saw the smoke monster. Started watching again somewhere late in the first half of season 3 (I heard about the explosion of the hatch device and gave it a second chance), and for the most part could follow it . . . but for two or three things...and shit, sorry, how does one do paragraph breaks? The Others were around at the same time as the Dharma group, who called them "natives"(?), indicating that they pre-dated Dharma . . . has the series yet explained who, as a whole, the Others are? At all?................ .............................. ..... Yeah, what have the others been up to? And Jacob. I have a feeling there wont be anything about Jacob until next season. .............................. ..... .............................. ..... The guy that plays Faraday (love the wealth of physics references lately), Jeremy Davies(?), I have a theory as to the direction he has taken since Private Ryan. His character Uppam(?) was to some extent vilified (unfairly in my opinion . . . I mean Uppam is Spielberg). He took that and now his characters are awkward and frightened not so much because they are . . . well, geeky, but because they are untrustworthy or hiding something. Been wanting to post that one a while now, hope it hasnt been discussed already.

Doook is gettign beat. Excellent.

10 minutes until I am complete.

Terry...give me about an hour and half to get this Ep on Pirate Bay. You shall have it as quick as I can create the torrent.

LOST is going to change the game tonight. What we thought we knew will be thrown into question. 3.2 million? 32 hours until the commandos land from the other boat to take this island by force. My theory as to why Ben wants Alex OUT of there now.

Kevin looks older (as some very good ideas have pointed out)because he arrived in NY at a time previous to the time he ever took custody of WAAAAAAALT. He is now in a different timeline. THose on the island are in a "time bubble" and are immune to the effects of changes to space time on the outside. Michael knew what he had and now what he is LOST. And he is on a mission to die. But he won't.

Enjoy an hour as close to perfection as we may ever see.

Namaste.

The part about the time shift (Michael arrived in the past, before the 815 crash even happened) is VERY wrong. Michael's mom references the crash, so he must have gotten back shortly after he sailed off in Ben's boat. Hmmmm.

So - there are growth issues to contend with according to Darlton - and that will explain the aging of Mike and Walt.
