Which just happens to be some of his best, especially 'Letters from Iwo Jima'? Oh I get it, not enough explosions and jingoism for you? Right. Well what then?

So what happened to The Changeling? That's been his current project for a while and is also due to hit end of this year. Is that dead or did he finish it already? Love Clint, he is not only a great screen presence and one of the few remaining true cinematic icons but also one of the best directors of all time - he delivered probably the best westerns ever with Unforgiven and Outlaw Josey Wales and one of the best war films ever made with Letters From Iwo Jima. Sure he's made a few dodgy thrillers - Bloodwork, True Crime i'm looking at you - but the man can hop genres brilliantly. Look at Play Misty For Me, Josey Wales, $1m Baby, Mystic River, Bridges of Madison County, Iwo Jima, etc. The man is never less than interesting. Anything he does and i'll be there.

I don't think he should go back to the West. Unforgiven was a perfect end to his work in that genre, it closed the circle on his Cowboy persona.

and of Eastwood's directing he said Clint doesn't say 'Action', he says "Alright, let's go." And instead of 'Cut', he says "Well, that oughta do it." That's fantastic.

Do a search on Gran Torino and you'll find there's a famous Italian soccer team with the same name with all kinds of movie possiblities.

This from Wikipedia (yeah, I know) - "Torino were denied their first championship attempt by the outbreak of World War I, and their first title was revoked in 1926/27 due to an irregularity in the match against Juventus. Torino won its first Scudetto, the Italian Serie A league Championship, the following 1927/28 season and, between 1942/43 and 1948/49, the "Grande Torino" (Great Torino), widely considered the best ever team in Italian football history, won five other straight titles, led by its captain, Valentino Mazzola.

On May 4, 1949, all but one player (who was out for an injury) of Grande Torino were killed when their plane crashed into the hills of Superga, on the outskirts of Turin. The club never recovered, and after a decade of mediocre seasons, they were relegated to Serie B in 1958/59, although they returned to Serie A the following season."

Is Clint doing a "We Are Marshall"? My guess Clint would play the soccer coach.

What if it is a continuation...

of the "Man With No Name" series that never technically existed? Would it not be cool to see that he is an entity that exists through all of time, and this is simply his newest incarnation? Who else wants to see Eastwood as Roland from the Dark Tower books; at least as the older version of Roland?

He's THE MOTHERFUCKIN man. Do your research, fellas.

Thank you Metaluna for bringing up LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA. I think that was even nominated for best picture, but I still think of it as underrated because I don't know many people who have seen it and those who did I thought were too hard on it. To me it was a profound approach to the war movie. He takes the one war almost everybody can agree on and shows it from the point of view of people who clearly were on the wrong side. And yet they are just people, human beings who end up by circumstance and culture fighting this war to the death.

I had some buddies who thought the part about the dog was corny but oh well. For the most part it was much subtler than FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS and had great characters and performances. And I like that the colors are so muted I remember it as being in black and white. I really liked that one.

That said, I hope Clint is stepping out of his "important" mode and just doing a Clint Eastwood movie. Anybody else love that part in BLOODWORK where he tells his partner he has to get something out of the trunk, pulls out a shotgun and just walks down the street blasting? He still has it in him to add to the all time badass canon if he wants to.

They're making a Grand Tourismo movie?
