granted, it looks like a rip-off of sacred cinematic jewels... But a fun rip-off, so I'll watch it. And a western/horror flick from him sounds good too.

I'd be more excited for this news if I hadn't already seen the previews for Doomsday. Looks retarded. Love Marshall's first 2 though. Now let's beat a dead horse and stir up a Decscent debate. . .

I was going with the whole 'lunatic Rob Zombie cannibal beast-men' versus the rough-and-tumble band of anti-heroic desperados.

Firefly was a western in space - or in other words, someone's attempt to splice an unassociated genre into the Western genre. This movie is doing the same, but instead of splicing sci-fi, its splicing in horror.

Thats where I was heading with that.

I can't hear that without thinking about that annoying kid from the Shining, "You mean..they et each other up?" He refernces Donner Party to narrow down the time period and the feel, but in the full article that was posted on this he said the horror is gonna be more Lovecraftian.

"It is set during the Gold Rush, a time remembered for incidents like the Donner Party," Marshall said. "It is meant to be a pitch-black, gritty, period horror movie." Marshall declined to disclose much detail on "Sacrilege," but the picture will draw on themes of isolation and paranoia and such influences as John Carpenter's "The Thing." "This is 'Unforgiven' by way of H.P. Lovecraft, with that grim, gritty setting and a horror element nobody has seen before," Marshall said.

All I know is I saw Predator II on TBS last week
by ArcadianDS

and one of the Predators had a pistol from 1817 that he gave to Danny Glover so he could brainbullet himself with honor. Turns out he was able to out run a spaceship.

anyway, it sorta opened the door for a Predator Prequel in the wild west. Kinda like a Predator/Tremors VII crossover. Worms Vs Predator. I'd watch it.

Also, in the alien trophy room, they had a dinosaur skull, a human skull, and an "aliens" skull - so even as early as Predator II, they were planning a merger-movie of the two genres. I'm still wondering when we'll get our DragonHeart Vs Predator tho.

And if predators have been hunting on Earth since 1817, why did they only have 5 skulls on display? Do they suck at hunting or are they waaaay too picky about their prey?

Graboid vs. Predator would indeed be awesome, as long as Burt Gummer is there.

And I think with the predator only having 5 skulls, they probably would come back periodically to see if their "prey" has advanced to make it more of a sport.

I'd be in for some good western-style horror, in the vein of Lansdale's work on the aforementioned Jonah Hex story or Riders of the Worm and Such (which could fit, it has Lovecraftian overtones).

Also, I hate to acknowledge spam but I will anyway: fuck CraveOnline and double-fuck Iann Robinson. What a whiny-sounding shitwhistle. I saw that bitch in a comic shop in Philly a few years ago, and my friends & I contemplated rolling him as he left the ATM across the street with handfuls of MTV cash. We totally should have.

Oh that's right, because you've got a phobia of them... Keep that one out of the press release notes, don't'cha? "Oh, oh, but I went in a small, dark cave for six weeks to shoot 'The Descent'!" Well that don't mean squat cos yo scared o' spoons! SPOONS! If I knew how to create a TinyUrl, I'd upload a JPG of, you guessed it, a spoon and the nightmares would trickle. Trickle like treacle falling off a spoon.

I've been wanting to see a horror-related Western for a long time now. If anyone can make a good one, it would be Marshall. I love "The Descent." "Dog Soldiers" is solid, and I'm looking forward to "Doomsday," which I think has the potential to be a lot of fun.

But I loved The Descent. Scared the pants off me, especially that night-vision bit. It actually gave me nightmares. So if it's not too Spoilerific (and take appropriate precautions please!), what's the deal with the US ending? I'm in the UK and our ending was pretty damn downbeat...

The Predators also hunt on other planets (if you consider the Dark Horse comics canon), so it's not necessarily a dinosaur skull at all, but some space beast! As well, if you were a hunter, would you mount all your trophies in your pickup truck? Maybe they left SOME of the skulls at home with the women while they were traipsing across the galaxy? hmmmmmmmmm...
