Sure, he's a proper nutbag, but that at least makes him more interesting than your average Hollywood actor. I could do without the racism (did anyone read about him selling his sperm as long as no one with dark skin tries to buy it?), but otherwise I think he's a pretty funny guy.

Also, I liked his film Buffalo 66, which could just have well been called The Adventures Of An Asshole, very much.

Christ, that second paragraph is a stinker

Sorry about that. I'll try again:

Also, I very much enjoyed his film Buffalo 66, which could just as well have been called The Adventures Of An Asshole.

There, that's better.

Good to see him back on the scene. Buffalo '66 has always had a place in my top ten, because it's lined with golden nuggets of comedy and drama. Case in point, the Scott Woods scene in the nightclub. near the end. Still don't know how he did the still shots.

Or was he the original? What was the last film he made that was actually worth watching? You wonder what he and Lucas have been sitting around smoking all of these years.
Does this mean he recovered his laptop?

The people who stole it should reenact the script using video cameras, and post it on YouTube.

Oh, and, Merrick wrote "NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN's Javier Bardem (he just won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for that film). " Thanks for clearing that up Merrick, otherwise I'm sure we'd have no idea who that was.

If you are bored...

I don't know if he's joking or serious, and I'm not sure which of the two options is funnier. Get your purses out, ladies...

Headline five days into shooting, "Gallo Leaves Tetris due to creative differences." He is a crazed near-genius asshole with a track record of ridiculous on set drama. But if it works out, should be pretty sweet. How bout his Belevedere commercial, pretty hip huh?

Nothing alike. What's a neckbone? Fried neckbones? I have a feeling Coppola will have to make about 10 more of these little DV-sized movies before he gets his groove back and does something interesting. He's out of shape. You can't just jump back in the race.

After the horrible time he had with Godfather III you could tell his heart wasn't in it. Sure, Rainmaker was a fine enough film but his heart wasn't in it. I think he's found his love again. Sure Youth Without Youth was a mess, but it was an outrageously ambitious mess. I'll take an ambitious mess by someone capable of a masterpiece above something by, oh say David Ellis or Andy Tennant. (both of who make fine films but, you know, might not reach the heights of The Godfather.)
now watch him sweep the Oscars...

No, seriously. Oscar loves comebacks. Gallo can be either great or awful but he's loved by the indies. Verdú is due for an Oscar nom or win (Y tu mamá también and Pan's Labyrinth were hits and she was the best in them) and Bardem is an acting God. It's a matter of time till Coppola gets the right project again. This project looks interesting, and sure that in Hollywood there is enough people eager to vindicate him...
Personally, I think it's awesome Francis is making films again..

It's kind of like sitting in a bar and noticing Brigitte Bardot giving you come-hither looks. Bardot's in her seventies now (I think), and looks like . . . well, let's just say that years of smoking and UV rays have taken their toll. But she was incredibly hot as a younger woman. If I pick her up, can I brag to everyone about how I picked up Brigitte Bardot? Or should I shut up?

As for Bardem, he's a terrific actor, but also seems like a pretty down-to-earth guy. It's weird how some great actors (like De Niro etc.) come across as odd and/or cold in interviews, whereas others (like Bardem, Day-Lewis, Streep, etc.) seem like regular guys.

Brown Bunny anyone?

Anyone who has seen Brown bunny will know that Gallo is just a chancer who seems to have made a careeer out of interia. I cant see Gallo coping with mainstream movie work and having to be an underling for Coppolla. Hes probably only doing it to get near Francis's older daughter Sofia. Will wager $50 that Gallo will nail Sofia before the end of this year.....
