Burnout Paradise is great but...

starts to get a bit dislocated just driving around because of the random factor!

It looks amazing no doubt about that and it's great fun to play but you can't see where you're going in a race and have to keep pausing it to use the world map just to make sure you don't take a wrong turn and then if you fuck up you can't just hit the restart race button you have to navigate the mindboggling map back to where the race started again which isn't fun or easy!!!

I'll have to play it on PS3 now though as my 4th XBOX fucked in just over a year and i'm forced but relieved to be back with Sony. Now I can enjoy stress free gaming without the godawfull jet engine noise, Blueray movies and a system that isn't terminally ill!!! (fingers crossed) it can't possibly have the tragically bad build quality of them grey brick!

Shame! I really liked Halo 3 and Crackdown when it worked but it was a stressfull pass-time being an XBox owner!

Bring on GTA4!

I echo your feelings on Paradise, and it's a real shame they took out the Crash Mode entirely. But damn, it does look purty.
needs a menu

the whole open world thing is cool and all but they really should have least given the option of using a typical menu to navigate the map and races. i dont wanna drive for 15mins just to find that one racetrack i like. so maybe they'll either do a downloadable fix or least do this in the next game. its my only complaint but yeah. as for road rash, i used to play whichever version 3DO had and i LOVED it so yes, bring on a 360 and/or PS3 version. in fact that and return fire were the only games i had and i played em constantly.
Recently released? That would be a month ago

Imagine a Road Rash for WII. Use the munchuck to steer, and the wiimote to whip chains and swing bats. EA, go back to the games you made before you were the self-crowned king of games!
uh..actually we're only interested in one game.

No restarts in a race? Driving for 2-3 minutes to get back to the start of a race? Rubbish crash mode? It was a total failure IMHO.

I bought Burnout 3 from Live's Xbox Classics section and have been very happy. :)

All they want to do is buy up better studios, ruin them, and destroy their creativity. Just like Microsoft.

Only reason for them to try to get people to see them as hip and cool so they can continue to buy out other studios and gobble them up.

Admittedly I first clicked on the article to crack on Monki for doing an article on Burnout Paradise which came out like two months ago. But the stuff on the EA headquarters and the Army Of Two stuff, which is a new release, as it just came out like yesterday, was pretty cool.

I worked for EA as a tester on Burnout Paradise and it just seemed like everyday they would cut more and more cool stuff out of the game. Originally, there were tons of online games (ie, pretty much every offline mode was available online aswell) but they were just so focused on meeting the release date that their attitude was to just cut everything out and maybe release these features later as downloadable content (Which you'll no doubt have to pay for).
Showtime

Love this game, I really do. Enough to get 100% completion, which I hardly ever manage. But sorry- Showtime just didn't work. It wasn't fun. Smashed up cars just disappeared. There was no aftermath to enjoy. In the end it just became a question of endurance, keeping the car bouncing around stupidly trying to hit buses. They could have done much better, even in the open world set-up.

Burnout was OK... but probably too open-ended for an arcade-style racer (same with the latest Test Drive).

EA is hardly known for innovation, but gotta give them credit for (mostly) fan-appropriate releases. Still, not into buying basically the same game every...single...year...

Fixing alot of the bugs in the game. Alot of them known. So i guess there will be an article of that a month after it happens? Also Bournout Paradise is hella fun online, but we never got an 8 man thing going, apparently that was one of the bugs.

Sounds fun and all, could be a laugh. It's just a shame the graphical style looks like such a cheap knock-off version of Team Fortress 2.
EA Haters:
by Playkins

You should thank EA. They are almost single-handedly responsible for elevating the quality of games. Why? Because small developers know that the only way to compete with them is to release superior product, and EA PUBLISHES TONS of stuff developed outside of Electronic Arts offices. They are in a very large way responsible for making videogames the industry it is today. Stop hating... they also produce some good games themselves. Sure, they have sequels, and they have some lousy stuff, bbut the jems make up for it.
Oh, and Paradise is one of my new favorites...

The XBOX 360 is a piece of shit hardware made by a company that people get off complaining about (ironic), but still buy. I know 16(!!!) people that have had to exchange their 360, and out of the 5 people I know that have a PS3, NONE have had any problems with it. Just wanted to add that to complete what will be universal flaming towards me.

As i know at least 30 people with 360 and only 4 have had the RROD problem. Mine's been a wonder since I purchased it on December 5th 2005. I also own a PS3 and while I don't doubt the reliability; i do know for a fact that there's going to be nothing to play on it until April when MGS4 comes out and even them I'll be too busy playing GTA4 to care. Gran Turismo should be good.

Been playing Army of Two for the last couple of days, not bad but not the best either. Only six levels and they're not very challenging.
Prefer Burnout: Revenge so far

I haven't bothered to take it online yet, so I can't say there.. but offline it just isn't cutting the mustard as well. Showtime definitely blows single player and who knows if it'll really be that much improved with more people.
TheAllSeeingEye: It's not that strange....
by Playkins

It's not strange at all if you work at a game company. On the team I work on, almost everyone has had to replace theirs. Which is why I bought a PS3 (that, and Blu-ray)

I wish people would drop the crap about there "being nothing to play on PS3". That's complete rubbish, as about 75% of all games are coming out cross-platform. As far as exclusives go, BOTH consoles have them. Although, as I'm sure it will be pointed out, 360 does have more.

Is Army of Two similar to Gears of War?

I sure hope so as GOW is my fav shooter of all time and I think all online multiplayer shooters. Should be played like Gears and FPS games should be abolished!

I've been playing it solidly the last 2 weeks on PS3 and most of that time its had me grinning like an idiot.

This and CoD4 are, IMO, the best that PS3 has to offer. I would like more itles to choose from, though. Looking forward to MGS4.
Burnout 2

I loved Burnout 2, one of the best driving games ever. The Burnout games have just got a little silly nowadays. I still think the cars handle great but the games are too random nowadays. Too much traffic, too much crashing. Burnout Takedown and revenge didn't even have any easy way to see your lap and race times which really annoyed me because that is pretty much the only replay factor in racing games, to try to beat your best time. Played this one a little at a mates house, the open play annoyed the fuck out of me. If thats the future of racing games. I'll go back to Tetris thanks.

but I'm not crazy about open racers.... Also, no crash mode OR split-screen.... I know, I know, the future of two-player is on-line only.... but still. I'll wait until I can pick it up for $25 bucks or less on Amazon.....
burnout 3 was great, paradise is good too

i thought revenge was kinda boring, but burnout 3 was my first, so they were pretty similar. anyway, paradise feels like burnout and ssx3, which is the other "sports game" i can actually enjoy.
