Beyond the Superman theme, does anyone really care about the music to these (mostly shitty) movies? I can't imagine anyone dropping $ to pick this up.

This is really, really interesting for a life long fan of the films (and I know knowing about music and scoring). It shed a lot of light about how weak Ken Thorne's score sounded vs. Williams'. I'd like to see more of this stuff.

Wish there was more stuff like this posted on AICN. The length was not a problem, it was all interesting. If you care enough to read about film scores, you ought to care enough to read about them in depth.

Too many blockheads here don't understand film scoring, too busy listening to Rob Zombie.

It's silly to argue that a knowledge of film scoring is necessary to appreciate this box set. Whether you understand film scoring or not does not make this set any more desirable. In the end, doesn't it all boil down to how it sounds? A boring soundtrack is still a boring soundtrack. Also, if knowledge of film scoring is necessary to purchase this set I'm not sure they're going to make much money off of it.

Superman and Superman Returns are the best scores. I can't see people rushing out to purchase Superman IV.

Just because the movie is shitty doesn't mean the music will be. Jerry Goldsmith practically made a career of writing fantastic scores for craptacular films. These scores stand on their own merits. Don't make the mistake of judging them only by the quality of the films.

gotta love that mentality...im sure there are a number of people who'd want this, some may want it cuz they truly like it all, others might just be huge superman fans and want to collect everything but some people do like it, even if "you" dont. silly internet kiddies.

Did they actually go from Indiana Jones to Home Alone?

I'm sorry, but that's the biggest bullshit about not putting out a completed Indiana Jones scores set! Who the FUCK cares about more Home Alone music? Why should that even fucking matter when talking about releasing the long out of print Temple of Doom score or the missing parts from Last Crusade? No fucking way do we want Home Alone or Hook music before a proper release of Indiana Jones scores. Are you fucking NUTS!?!?!?!
Also, where's Shirley Walker's music?

Sounds like a mostly complete package and a lot of thought went into it, but it baffles me why Ron Jones gets a mention and not Shirley Walker, who worked on the more recent Superman series (unless Jones did work that I didn't know about, but I'm still pretty sure Walker at least wrote the main theme for the 90s show). Granted the Rubey Spears show has been unfairly forgotten, but Walker was never given her proper respect and it's a shame to see her omitted here.

I can't believe the length these guys went to put out this music. TO be honest, I don't care for SIII or SIV but after hearing some of the tracks, I'm gonna pick this one up for sure. Totally unrelated, but it would be great if these guys put out a Twin Peaks Soundtrack set. The latest release was great but only touched on the wealth of material that is in the TV Series and film.

Yes, I'd like her to get her dues. This Superman set covers the Williams stuff. Shirley's stuff is a separate entity and probably expensive to do. She probably used a union orchestra.

Contrary to what some of the ill-informed might think, the Superman box set is a very popular item. When it was announced for sale last week, the web site servers crashed for hours with people trying to order it. The problem is, dickheads who just don't care for film scoring period proclaim that no one cares for it. And yes, I'm talking about you. It's painfully obvious you don't know anything about film music and have closed your mind to the point where you'll never hear it anyway. The first film in particular is filled with gorgeous music for the Krypton scenes, the Smallville sequences, the creation of the Fortress Of Solitude...YES, aside from the theme music there's plenty of good music there. The following films might NOT live up to the brilliance of the original film, but all offer good music. Don't confuse the quality of the movies with the quality of the music. I'm sure you'd rather have songs by Kanye West of Megadeath or whoever slathered all over a movie, but anyone who actually appreciates film, and good filmmaking, understands the importance of a filmscore to a completed motion picture. But we can see you don't have that understanding of the art of moviemaking. Yep, that's you.
And yes
