It's been way too long since the best show on tv has been on!!! At least it's only a month away. What's up with the friday time slot? I thought sunday was great. We've been conditioned by HBO that sunday is the night for top-notch programming. BSG belongs in that category for sure. It really doesn't matter though, we all have TiVo. With Lost and BSG on thursday and friday, our weeks are about to end with a bang. At least for a little while.

I always thought that Larson made it clear that the original Galatica took place in the near to distant future (The last episode showed the first moon landing.) However, in the abortion that was G-1980, time travel was possible, so I guess if Moore is using Larson even as a vague template, anything can happen. Maybe they'll arrive in the far future, discover an earth burned to cinders, and shoot themselves back into the distant, pre-hiostoric (re:lost civilization) past.

has my vote as the fifth and final. i remember an interview from awhile ago with katee where she referred to the 5th cyclon as a he.

if you stopped giving a shit halfway through last season you're cheating yourself. yeah, s3 requires more patience than s1 and s2-- the kat arc kind of sucks and the finale is iffy, but i think that's because it contains the single worst cover of "All Along the Watchtower" ever recorded and not because of the story. I got faith s4 is going to be fucking rad.

This could go a lot of different ways. My favorite would be for them to arrive on Earth around 29,000 to 30,000 years ago. That's about the time the Neanderthals disappeared. What if they were the original inhabitants of Earth and BSG are our direct ancestors? Then again you get into the explanation of what happened to the 13th colony. Wiped out by Neanderthals, maybe? Anyway, glad I'm not writing it.

Adama is the final Cylon and Roslin kills him, before dying of cancer, just before S4 Part I ends. (Rememeber, because of the writer's strike only part of Season 4 is ready.) Lee takes over Galactica and Zarek takes over as President. The final battle with the Cylons and the arrival at Earth will wait until 2009 when the new scripts are ready. Last year's cliffhanger will be nothing compared to where they leave off and decide whether to continue filming Season 4.5.

I still think it's got to be Baltar given that he's able to visualize in the same way the Cylons can, but we can't find out until the last or second to last episode because pretty much once we know conclusively, the character becomes less mysterious and interesting. But at the same time, we want to get some sort of resolution as to how that revelation changes Baltar.

He specifically said there's a REASON Tigh is a Cylon. What, did you think they FORGOT he's too old? Also, there were only two things the producers decided they will NEVER do: *aliens* and *time travel*. There will never be time travel in this show - whatever year it is, it won't change in a hurry. And frankly, if you don't like McCreary's version of All Along the Watchtower, well, I don't know how to help you with that. It's an awesome song. I'm sorry you don't agree.

This show pulled the trap door out from under all of us, and is letting us fall to our deaths. They have made it quite clear they're making this up at will, with no respect for established plot lines, logic or defensibility of "plot twists". It's bullshit, chickenshit writing. Saul Tigh and his lot being "cylons" was the absolute last straw. It makes no sense, and was a completely indefensible twist with no logical basis or evidence.

Here's my take on how the series could end (AND bring back Dirk
by EastBayFrankenstein
Feb 27th, 2008
08:37:14 PM
Alright. Here's an idea... - Galactica finds Earth, but the Cylons have orbiting Baseships of various types (some identical to classic BG) circling the planet when they arrive. The Baseships are fighting other starships, each appearing to be slightly different variations of Galactica! - The rest of the fleet is ordered to jump away shortly after the Cylon armada is encountered. A pitched battle ensues. Galactica joins the fight with the other 'battlestars" while trying to make sense of other starship commanders who contact Galactica- each one led by a different commanding officer named Adama! After a fierce battle, Galactica crashes into the planet's surface, killing nearly everyone aboard. - Lee Adama and a few other principles (you pick 'em) investigate their surroundings. They discover a future-day Earth devastated by a recent Cylon nuclear assault. Lee's team loads up on radiation sickness resistance meds and heads into the presumed safety of London's underground subway tunnels, seeking answers and survival from Cylons hunting down humans who lived through the initial nuclear strike. - While wandering the subterranean tunnels, Lee's team encounters other humans. However, they are not natives of Earth, but survivors from another crashed "battlestar" that went down with Galactica. The individual in charge of that group identifies himself as Lt. Starbuck. Who is it? Dirk Benedict decked out in classic BG gear! - Through tons of exposition, it is revealed that the classic 70s BG crew and ship find Earth at the SAME time the Ronald Moore version finds Earth. Additionally 10 other alternate versions of Galactica and her crew arrive at Earth at EXACTLY the same time, uniting what are TRULY the 12 colonies of Kobol! - Eventually the various Galactica crews unite and form a loose resistance against the Cylons along with the help of survivors from Earth , but their guerilla tactics are less than successful. - In a parallel story, a group of native Earth humans begin to follow an idealogical underground movement led by a man who arrives on Earth shortly before the 12 Galacticas. Who is it? Ronald Moore's Baltar! The followers of Baltar see him as a Jesus-type figure who arrives to herald the apocalyptic devastation brought on by the Cylon attack that follows his arrival. Baltar convinces his followers that he will lead them to "salvation". In truth, he is on a mission to round up as many remaining Earth humans as possible, deliver them to the Cylons to be killed, and ensure the extinction of the human race. In return, the Cylons agree to provide Baltar absolution on whether he is either human or Cylon- a uncertainty that drives him more and more mad with each day. - Baltar convinces the united human resistance to trust him in a scheme to wipeout the Cylons once and for all. In actuality, he is once being guided by madness to betray the human race one last time to the Cylons. His cooperation with humanity is a front to deliver the annihilation of all human life to the Cylons. - The series ends with Baltar finally discovering that he is the last unrevealed Cylon and, in a once-in-his-lifetime move of genuine unselfishness, and final betrayal- this time against the Cylons. Baltar kills Six while in a delusional encounter with her that takes place in the exact same set as his first scenes with Six at his home on Caprica. - After having killed Six, he wakes and finds himself safe on Caprica at the exact same time and place as when the series started. He looks out his window, completely bewildered and relieved. As the camera spins shifts away from Baltar's face a figure steps into the frame. Six!

While nothing rules Zarek out per se, he really isn't that interesting of a character to make the final Cylon. It makes more sense for Kendra to be the one - they went the trouble of making a miniseries to introduce her, and some of the dialog she has with the hybrid prototype is strange. Plus it would be more of a surprise 'cause she has already been "killed".
I still think it's Roslin
by performingmonkey
Feb 27th, 2008
09:17:58 PM
From a storytelling pov it would be perfect for Roslin to be the final Cylon. They have been led by the no.1 Cylon all along and now it's down to Adama to stop her! If Kara is leading the human race to it's destruction that means it's likely that BALTAR is the one they should really be following. Gaeta would also make a cool final cylon. He's not in that pic of the main cast either, which means according to Moore he's still in with a chance of being the final cylon.
I think he has the "didn't see that coming" factor
by br1947
Feb 27th, 2008
09:22:48 PM
Which is what I think the producers will go for. Starbuck, Baltar, Roslin, Adama(s), Gaeta are all too likely for fans to guess at, they are going to go for the "WTF?" response. I liked Kendra, but so what if she is the final one? Some throw away character that showed up at the end of the series? Zarek however has been there from pretty much the begining, stirring trouble. Don't forget he was in prison for overthrowing the Sagittaron government, which just happens to be one of the most religious of the Colonies. As the Cylons are monotheistic, it would make sense for a Cylon to attack that world.

Galactica gets to Earth just ahead of the Basestar that has been chasing the rag tag human fleet. There is a final battle in orbit that destroys both ships and most of the fleet. Some humans reach earth before everything explodes. They are lead by Baltar who is their "savior". They stand in a desert and watch the fireworks in the sky which winds up looking like a star that streaks across the sky. A star that three wise men will follow to find a renamed Baltar who now calls himself Jesus and speaks to God all be it a very sexy blond hottie of a god.

... could be the final cylon. That way, Starbuck would be the first Cylon hybrid and all the "starchild" stuff everyone thought applied to Boomer's kid really applies to Starbuck, hence her surprise return and knowledgefullness. Plus, it's interesting that every secret Cylon has had some hint of alcohol issues. In the finale, 2 were revealed while drinking in the bar, one has a history of alcohol abuse, and one has always had a secret stash. Just a theory, anyways.

That ridiculous "oops! Now where did I put that cancer" a couple of seasons ago would now make sense... she pulls off a miracle cure that didn't really happen. I am going to give the series one chance to explain why they made so many people into cylons at the end of last season. i think that was really boneheaded. Especially the chief. I think it's been established that they'll find near-present day Earth right? I mean, Starbuck was listening to Bob Frakkin' Dylan on her new Ipod, right? Or something? God, it's been a long, long wait.

I still don't buy that Tigh, Tyrol and the rest actually are Cylons, it's Clyon psy-op mindfucker, that is.

Yes, Apollo is a Brit. British people can do American accents surprisingly easy. It's only American actors that find accents difficult, apparently. Johnny Depp, please stop taking roles that require you to speak in a British accent, pretty fucking please. The last Cylon will be someone who died awhile ago. Tigh's wife or Pegasus' captain or somesuch. Big surprise!

like some others on here I will still watch, despite the fact the show has been spiralling down the toilet since before the middle of last season...

if Moore was able to consistently deliver the same quality of the miniseries and most of the first season this show could have been so truly great - but he's dropped the ball (he admits it himself, to his credit) too many times now and it's just too hard to get very excited about a new season - especially knowing they're planning to do an SG-1 and not end the show properly-

actually, having said that, there's a certain symmetry to beginning and ending the show with a miniseries that I could understand and respect - although it would have to be at least to the standard set by the original miniseries and right now they seem to be just treading water!

maybe if they can somehow justify this decision to go with these four being "final five" but again, they'll need to do a lot better than they did last season...

Are you alive?

Six's words from the pilot. The "fifth" Cylon is the 12 colonies themselves. We're just assuming humans survived the first war and it was metal Cylons who ran away. Could be Six and her kind are the losers of round one back for another go.

What was James Remar's character doing there at the end? He died halfway through Season 2, as soon as he was introduced. Unless they were just using old production footage for this video. My final Cylon predictions are either Dee (look at the way she seduces men in positions of power!) or Lee ("Adama is a Cylon"; he could have been switched at birth). Baltar can't be a Cylon, it completely lets his character off the hook for his part in the genocide of the human race.

For TV, especially TV shot in Vancouver, and a cast peppered with Canadian talent, this show actually presents some pretty fine acting. Not spectacular or anything, but I can watch it without squinting my eyes and covering my ears too too much.

Baltar is one of the best characters I've seen rendered on the small screen in a long time. That's not all script.

I don't give a rat's ass about the Final Five either. I mean, hell, it aint like Tigh is gonna betray the Colonial fleet. I just wanna see what happens when they find Earth.

I really hope the fact that there is just the one season left forces them to concentrate on consice plots and answering questions - there was way too much stringing along and meandering in small parts of season 2 and large parts of season 3. My worst fear is that they will end season 4 with many questions unanswered, or even on a cliffhanger, leaving things to be resolved in a special tv movie (ala razor) to be released at a later time (and on a seperate, full priced dvd to be sure).

The Ragtag fleet jumps into Earth's solar system. Across the radio in the CIC, you hear this final sentence. "Unidentified Ship. This is James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise. Can we be of assistance." Fade to black.

You will likely have to find a new name for The Hybrid Theory, because IMHO in Season 4 it won't be just a theory anymore!

MNG, now that you are free, it's time to free BSG. Bring on April 4th!

Has a nice ring to it, eh?

Cheers back at both of you, Hubie and MNG. Counting weeks rather than months, now (actually, I am counting DAYS to Mar 20 S3 DVD --so my wife can get caught up prior to S4). I will rewatch them in a marathon with her, then get to see Razor for the first time, then S4.

AND, comcasticly, I will have SciFi HD channel starting next week!!

I expect to come down with a severe flu-like thing around the last week of March, so I can sit home and "recover" :-)

The galactica itself is the final cylon? and maybe its the cylons who are ourancestors, and all the real humans died?

Hybrid Supremacy works well since the Hybrid controls the powerful base stars and might be both the Final Cylon and the Cylon divinity.

... could you find such a ridiculous statement. I just finished watching all three seasons – holy FRAK this show is so great! I was blind, but now I can see. Gaius Baltar is one of the most complex, well-acted characters on television. Every time he is on screen I'm riveted. Truly a great actor. Having said that, everyone's entitled to their (wrong) opinion.
