i saw him do 'hamlet' on broadway and afterwards i swarmed the stage door like a rabid fangirl and reached out and grabbed his ass. this was back in the day when he was nothing short of mind-blowingly handsome. now he's something else, something darker, but still brazilliant, and capone, very nice interview indeed.
Always enjoyed him...

And man, when they cast him and Uma for The Avengers I thought - what perfect casting. And then I saw the film and wow did it stink (not due to them).

Have you read the books? Voldemort's story in the 6th book is told through flashbacks. Fiennes would be too old to play the part. He shows up again in a big way in book 7 though.

...One of my favorite films, ever. It's criminal that the immensely-talented (and kinky...in real life, seriously) Kate Bigelow hasn't gotten more A-list feature work than she has. That film needs a new DVD, with Jim Cameron commentary. Looking forward to her and Fiennes getting back together again.

...pardon you.

My girlfriend and I just finished watching Schindler's List over the past two nights. His performance is insecure, volatile insanity at its best. Watch his eyes when he talks to Schindler. He looks up to the man while being barely able to understand him. His passage of feigned goodess is wound so tight that by the time he relents and shoots his servant it feels like the only choice his character is capable of making.

His scene with Embeth Davitz in the wine cellar is chilling, darkly erotic, and then explodes with terrible violence.

Still, he seems the kind of man who looks at it as simply a job. Other actors could get fucked up playing a part like that.

A beautiful performance. Overshadowed by Rachel's showy pyrotechnics, mostly, but how he reins everything in for so long, excepting that scene where he just loses it silently in the tiny stone garden...that's the biz. And the best movie to be adapted from King LeCarré's oeuvre; honourable mentions, Tailor of Panama and Spy who came in from the Cold.

...mmm. yes. except for his looks, elocution, talent, inclination to perform shakespeare and other theater in nyc and wholesale refusal to appear in anything my kevin smith. otherwise, good call! he's brilliant in everything, less his abandonment of alex kingston. alex...mmm, mmm mmm.

...Yup. That's the one truly unforgivable thing we shouldn't forgive Fiennes for, though admittedly Francesca Annis was (and is) a hot piece of ass. Still...you land Alex Kingston and then cheat on her? He should have his open genitals exposed to a microwave.
