Didn't know Gabriel was going to be involved until now.

I think WALL•E was already my most anticipated film of the summer '08 season, and now to hear that one of my favorite musicians is involved (scoring and/or otherwise) has me so excited I can't see straight.

Also can't wait because this will be my 3-year old's very first theater going experience. He's a huge fan of rockets and robots, and he asks to watch the trailer for the "robot movie" almost every day.

The Incredibles and Iron Giant are two of his favorite movies, but I have a feeling this is going to blow both of them away in his mind. Can't wait to see his reaction.

Like to see the early Genesis love going on here. Supper's Ready ranks up there with Pink Floyd Echoes and Yes's Close to the Edge as the all time prog rock classic. Plus his solo stuff kicks ass. I wonder how many films used Gabriel's "Rhythm of the Heat" (the heavy drum part) in movie trailers? I count about 5 that I know of. Even dug his song for Babe 2. If you want to check his stuff out, I'd say pass by "So" and check out the CD with his face melting on the cover, no title. Man that CD was like 20 years ahead of its time. Ok, done gushing now....No wait, the Last Temptation soundtrack is one of the most influential scores of the late 80s. Ok done.

Said the unifaun to his true loves eyes. It lies with me! cried the queen of maybe - for her merchandise, he traded in his prize. Paper late! cried a voice in the crowd. Old man dies! the note he left was signed old father thames - it seems hes drowned; Selling england by the pound. Citizens of hope & glory, Time goes by - its the time of your life. Easy now, sit you down. Chewing through your wimpey dreams, They eat without a sound; Digesting england by the pound. Young man says you are what you eat - eat well. Old man says you are what you wear - wear well. You know what you are, you dont give a damn; Bursting your belt that is your homemade sham. The captain leads his dance right on through the night - join the dance... Follow on! till the grail sun sets in the mould. Follow on! till the gold is cold. Dancing out with the moonlit knight, Knights of the green shield stamp and shout. Theres a fat old lady outside the saloon; Laying out the credit cards she plays fortune. The deck is uneven right from the start; And all of their hands are playing apart. The captain leads his dance right on through the night - join the dance... Follow on! a round table-talking down we go. Youre the show! Off we go with - you play the hobbyhorse, Ill play the fool. Well tease the bull Ringing round & loud, loud & round. Follow on! with a twist of the world we go. Follow on! till the gold is cold. Dancing out with the moonlit knight, Knights of the green shield stamp and shout.

Nice to see the Gabriel appreciation society making their love known – I love that guy’s stuff. However, it looks like his participation will be limited to a couple of tracks at most; the Wall-E sessions isn’t on the scope of such great work as “Passion” (soundtrack for The Last Temptation of Christ) or “Long Walk Home” (soundtrack for Rabbit-Proof Fence). As long as Gabriel’s writing and performing the music though, I’m not complaining. His collaboration with that drip Randy Newman made me cringe – although Newman’s maudlin lyrics never sounded better. I swear, Newman’s nasal baby whine comes from so far back, it sounds like he’s drowning in his own phlegm. Oh, and Gabriel’s cover of “Book of Love” was the only thing decent that came out of that Richard Gere debacle “Shall We Dance.” Most. Beautiful. Song. Ever.
Any know were you get Gabriel's "Germlins" song?

It's actually already begun. The rat bastards already cutting down the next Pixar movie because: A. "It's a Short Circuit rip-off!" B. " Pixar sucks now because......they suck....and stuff" If you don't get a little excited seeing that trailer, having kids or not, you are a heartless ass (and contrary to half the slugs that post on here, that's actually not cool)

I love the people who think just because it's Pixar, it's going to be God's gift to movies. Gush all you want, but Pixar's films have become more visually complex over the years, but [with the exception of Bird's work] the stories have become less inventive. The trailers for Wall-E have been tight-lipped about the story. But the last trailer confirms there's going to be romance between two robots. Yay. Great. Wow. Super. Another thing, Wall-E's character design is stright-up Shit-E.

by idonotseekabanning
Feb 13th, 2008
03:20:55 PM
is comprised solely of observational drivel over nearly identical faux Jazz riffs, then, Golly, it must be so!

It reminds me of that time I was reminded of that time Peter Griffin was reminded of that time that all one needs to do to tap into Comedy Gold's elusive Zeitgeist is to do a screen-for-screen reenactment of a scene from a movie, television show or music video.

What's that? You're tired of people saying Family Guy is nothing more than a pastiche of pop culture references and non-plot-necessary flashbacks? You're tired of people recycling the Southpark manatee argument?

Randy Newman lived with Van Dyke Parks for a while. That's pretty cool.

Luckily for me, I am a fan of absolutely nothing, so I am well insulated against anyone attacking any of my attacks on his/her attacks on the one-notedness of pop icons.

Hey, AICN! I come here despite my being too cool to come here. My presence here is wholly ironic.

"all he does is play Al Pacino"....wtf - Angels in America and Merchant of Venice were only 4 years ago and were as good a back to back one-two punch as anyone has done in film in recent memory. You people are simply not worthy. Heck even in O13 he was a terrific, witty (and quite sly) addition to the ensemble. Yeah, he does crap but he rarely sucks in anything, he doesn't coast (he's working hard to entertain YOU dammit) - and here's the kicker : he's been flat out great at LEAST 6 times in the last 10 years (Donnie Brasco, The Insider, Chinese Coffee, Insomnia, and the aforementioned AiA, MOV); any other American actor in his age group got 6 great performances in the last 10 years? Yeah, exactly....

If Gabriel is working for animation studios, someone out to make a cartoon adaptation of "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway". That would be a trip.
