Funny, the crowd had a similar reaction at The Fountain too. You know whats funny? White Trash Scum booing and hissing and proclaiming loudly that they are unhappy and bored, yet it only takes a couple of notes of Guns N Roses to turn them back into salivating pigs. If only the production company had chained the doors on the way out and burnt the place down, they would have done the gene pool a real favour.

there was no cue except for a lull in Axl Rose's screeching. That momentary pause in rocking is all it takes to turn the tide of Wrestle Mania against you.

Quiet. Also, I do plan on seeing this movie when it comes out. Here's hoping this is finally a decent wrestling movie after all the travesties that preceded it. This can't possibly be as bad as Ready to Rumble, right? However, it probably won't top Beyond the Mat, but that is a documentary so apples and oranges.

It looks like they are using the Arri 235. It's the smallest, lightest handheld 35mm camera used by Hollywood. Now, if it's 16mm, it's the Arri 416. The most advanced 16mm camera available.

C'mon, Ravenlord, what about Body Slam with Roddy Piper and Dirk Benedict? That was...oh yeah, it sucked. It was bad when I was thirteen and made No Holds Barred look like something better than No Holds Barred. But it was still better than Driven. Ah, I guess you're right, wrestling movies suck.

I just wish somebody would make a movie based on Pro Wrestling for the NES. That would totally rule.

Yeah, I said the same thing about any and all WGA strike talkbacks. Unfortunately I had to read hundreds of posts from writer-hating hack assholes. Mind you, it's too bad Aranofsky had to associate himself with CZW, which I find to be a personally insulting federation. Shit wrestling. Bring on the Ring of Honor, I say. CZW is glorified backyard crap.
Lots of peeps had entrance and exit songs.

Well, even if the casting is all wrong (except for Antonio Banaderas as Starman). Ken Watanabe IS Fighter Hayabusa. Hong Man Choi should play Kin Korn Carn. Howie Long is Giant Panther. Brad Pitt would be an excellent Great Puma. And Kurt Angle should be King Slender. It's true, it's true!
Aronofsky should do 1984!

... but i wonder what Aronofsky's interest in the material (pro wrestling world) is all about - was he a hire or did he come up with this - is he a fan - i cant help wondering how many pro westling fans are also Aronofsky fans - how many WWF fans flocked to see "The Fountain" - conversely, how many Aronofsky fans like watching pro wrestling - not that any of this matters - its just an interesting choice of film for this director - i like Aronofsky, and im guilty of enjoying an occasional wrestling match - its not as much fun as it was a while back though - when Lesnar was in the ring - its a type of theater, like opera almost (but without the singing) - yeah, its not real fighting but its still very dangerous - but its gotten so ridiculous (what with all the pre-match scripted theatrics) that i watch now more to just make fun of it - at least in the past it had the semblance of reality - its still entertaining, but in a violent sesame street way - Andre he Giant, Hulk Hogan, the Von Erichs, King Kong Brody and Roddy Piper are sorely missed - those guys could really put on a good fight/show - and they didnt need all the over ambitious rock-concert-lighting/staging that the current crop relies on so heavily - that said, im lookin forward to this movie - i wonder if Rourke took any hgh to bulk up - physically, he is a far cry from the skinny guy he was in "Rumble fish" - hes even bigger and more cut than he was in "Sin City" - maybe the film industry should be investigated for illegal steroid use

he definitely did not write it. it was written by robert d. siegel who is either the editor or just a writer for theonion.com. and i can tell you that pretty much myself and my 3 friends (me being the one who got the footage you see above and the others attending, one of which wrote the article) were the only movie fans there. it pretty much seemed like no one knew who darren was. although he seemed to be enjoying himself quite a bit so i would assume he is a wrestling fan.
Thanks, Bloom
