I saw the first three episodes. It's interesting that these 7 episodes will be airing during this political season. This season is premised around the beginnings of a second American civil war, and a right-wing faction that instigated the attack on the USA, whose rhetoric sounds an awful lot like the neocons today. The possibility of an "Allied States of America" doesn't seem unrealistic.

yes.

Jericho is good but not great. it's a cool concept with interesting ideas but it gets burdened down with some lame characterisation, cliches and cheesy CBS production values.

the show has improved, though.

In spite of some tone and budget issues..

pretty famned good for a show that's not Journeyman or Lost. I thought the first 3 of this season were worth my time and I'll be tuning in for all of them. (not that the Nielson company cares what's on MY box) I hope they get to produce more episodes so the writers can get comfortable with the budget restraints and take it in new directions within those limitations. It's a show that always seems to want to be bigger than it is, so it can be disappointing when you're expecting to see a ruined city and instead you get a single burnt truck on the side of the road and a few piles of trash. But for some reason, in spite of all this I feel drawn to the story and the characters. It's a world I want to explore, and that keeps me watching.

well, not really but I live in Northwest (not Northwestern Herc, it's Northwest) Kansas and if Jericho is Oakley, KS (which by coincidence is located on I-70 adn the 2 hywys like Jericho is) then I live in what could be New Bern. And if really came ot that, we would so kick their butt

I wasn't a big fan last season; the first half was just mired in a muddy conspiracy and the resulting implausible and sentimentalized survival story. That said, I've seen the first few episodes of the new season, and it is WAY improved. There's a well-defined world, a clear story that's interesting and some nice new characters. I think new viewers can jump right in. If you do want to get some backstory, just grab the last half of the first season.
Glad to see it back

Okay some the dialogue may be cheesy and I could live without the love triangle(s), but damnit I like this show. I usually prefer my post-nuclear dramas to have mutants or zombies, but I find myself drawn to the characters here. The last few episodes of season one really cranked things up and if its true that its leading to a new American Civil War I can't wait.

No, it's utter shit. Great and promising premise, but a thoroughly botched execution. The writers would rather focus more on hokey and unrealistic conspiracies and who's boning who than present a real drama about survival after a nuclear attack on America.
One thing you can't argue:

It's far and away the best show on CBS. Like others have said, it ain't exactly The Wire, but it is very entertaining. I picked up season one for $3 plus a gift card last month and am very happy I did. Definitely recommend watching season 1 rather than jumping in on season 2. Still gonna be a few months before the other shows start coming back anyway, so I'd say it's worth checking out.

mcraney was the glue that held the series together...and they have now turned the show into a post apocalyptic 24...and wait till you see the guy who is playing the wingnutty prez...but seeing as this is basically the only first run drama on tuesday nites, i can see it getting decent ratings, and since the networks are gonna stick it to the wga and not create pilots, i can definitely see it making it to the fall season

Jericho's pretty good. It's not as engaging as Lost or Heroes, but it's got some cool aspects. The coolest thing Jericho has going for it is that there's nothing else that's new on TV right now. So it may not be the best TV, but it's the best option tonight beyond Idol and Boston Legal. Plus it has Skeet. Skeet's awesome.

I guess CBS didn't wanna send you the screeners until the show was about to return to the airwaves, so you can hype it properly?

No biggie...

So far S2 ROCKS! I cannot wait to see how Texas is gonna weigh in when the fake "private" govt decides to take on the "real" govt in Ohio!

Pamela Reed's presence was missed - mostly coz they kept giving her lip service - but I can't say I really cared about Skylar too much...

I did, however, appreciate the return of Erik Knudsen - his character is turning into one of the more interesting ones on this show - although he aint no Robert Hawkins JUST YET!

nah - I know what this show's FX budget is like - I'm hoping for more intrigue, along the lines of what has been developing so far...

this guy who still hasn't made the rally point yet, for example - and the mayor's infiltration of this summit to rewrite the constitution...

Welcome back Peyton and Skee-li!

Jericho good? It can be pretty entertaining if you ignore the heavy-handed tone, cheesy emotional hooks, WTF?! lapses in logic, and focus on Hawkins and his shenanigans. But a top-tier show it's not.

I liked the first season. People seem to forget that if you download the show online from a torrent or other p2p network, you don't do the show any justice. Ratings is what keeps shows on the air. Networks get paid from the ads they air during the show. If people are not watching the ads, the network is not going to get higher paying companies to air ads during their shows. That is why stuff like Veronica Mars and Arrested Development got cancelled. I know many people who would just download the episodes without the ads, and then they complain the show got cancelled.

The networks also have methods to see how many people actually watch the episode. Technology has advanced a lot in the last few years. The show did a 4.2/7, the show will air its final episodes and be done. Unless this show hits a 5 or higher, no chance of it coming back.

Ain't no way Jericho gets renewed. No amount of nuts or the writer's strike will get people to watch this show. There's just nothing to suck in new viewers. It's great for the converted though. I'm guess people are just confused that the letters CSI aren't in the title of show so they ignore it. But really, this is it. The chances of Jericho getting another season are very slim.
A good show with flaws

I love Jericho but acknowledge it's flaws. This season is missing something without Major Dad and his wife. They added some gravitas to the show. One thing I don't like is the way they seemed to have cast retreads. People you've seen before in commercials, failed pilots, etc. The cast doesn't seem very fresh. They mystery is somewhat gone out of the show now. Part of the fun was trying to find out what the hell was going on. Now, we basically now. Not sure how much watching Jake and Hawkins take down the Cheyenne government will be. I will watch until the end though.

I am very glad that we will get a resolution to the series. It doesn't always happen with a series like this. If the impossible happens and it gets renewed I will jump for joy, but for now I am just extremely excited that it's back and we'll get some sort of resolution to the story.

but he just kinda blew in Jericho. not because of his acting or anything but all his main storylines were typical CBS family viewing schmaltz.
