He's been going the independent-movie route after realizing that he wouldn't be able to kick-start a career off of The Skulls and Cursed; it's just that none of the indies he's done have really been seen. Plus, he was awesome in The Mighty Ducks, c'mon.

in A life in the Theatre opposite Patrick Stewart. Brave move doing a 2 man Mamet play with someone who is considered one of the greatest living stage actors. He held his own, which is pretty high praise in the circumstances. Although my abiding memory of the play is Stewart shouting "I'LL KILL THE CUNT" in a remarkable camp manner. That Mamet - such a potty mouth.

raised in Canada and California make Joshua Jackson in any way Irish? His mother is Irish and he'll have a good time on March 17th but with his dual US/Canadian passport he would have a hard time convincing anyone that he is actually Irish. He is of Irish descent, not Irish.

... how could Lucas pick Hayden C over Pacey Witter?

Josh Jackson would have made Anakin not a sulky teenager, but the Han Solo of the prequel trilogy

He would have been the rogue with a little too much rogue in him. And we all know he wouldn't have butchered the, "I have a bad feeling about this," line at the end of Clones.

Josh Jackson: the man who should have been Darth Vader.

I have never thoguht of that before. He seriously would have owned that shit straight out. If that fucking low life Tobey Maguire backs out of Spiderman 4 Joshua would make a dead on Peter Parker, or even a villian like Scorpian or something. This kid has to do something to break out of the Dawsons Crek shit because he can act, rent Bobby sometime.
Joshua would make a good Parker...

...But should there even be a Spidey 4? I mean, after Spidey 3, I've had enough. And besides, we've run out of good villains. Scorpion is basically just a dumb version of Doc Ock with only one cyborg arm and with that one arm mounted on his ass. The Vulture's that ornery old man in the dilapidated old house down the street who's always screaming at the neighborhood kids to stay off his grass... only he can fly. The Rhino's like Corky on steroids in a silly Halloween costume. Not that I don't love all the old classic villains, but you really can't stretch them out into a feature length film, and putting 3, 4 or 6 in... well, we saw how shitty that was in Spidey 3.

Doesn't sound like he's playing the male lead if his character is described as "the son of..." But it's still a score for ex-Pacey, who I have to give props to for being with a fine woman like Diane Kruger. A step up from Joey Potter for sure.

... seriously, if you can find it online, back in 1999-2000 while casting for Anakin, the one name that came up every time was Josh Jackson. In EW, they had him the odds on guy for the part until Lucasfilm looked at Hayden.

I guess they weren't looking for a guy with charisma, which is why they went with Hayden at the time. Big, huge fucking mistake.

Well, I just became more interested. Even among the stellar cast of Lost, he stands heads and tails above the others (Ha! sorry). I guess he didn't stand out as much in The Wire because every freakin actor is just that spectacular. I guess if Jackson can hold his own against Patrick Stewart, he can go up against almost anyone. Anyone see Stewart's turn in Extras? "I'm sort of a James Bond figure ... and I have to go to Iraq to save these women. But by the time I get there, their clothes have fallen off..." So brilliant.
Why Fox? Oh, ...why?

If it's good, half a season. If it's even remotely serialized, they'll air it out of order. If it does well, or improves, they'll move it to a different night.
Spidey 3 sucked big time..... but

There is room for improvement. It's not the fault of the villians they use, just the fact that they always make them these really good people who don't want to do anything wrong but life is tragic. At the end they always tell Spiderman how much he saved them and how they should rent an apartment together when this whole world ending stuff is fixed. We need soe KingPin types or someone who wants to fucking kill Spiderman dead,no if and's or buts. You do that with the right cast and your gold.

getting many new scripted shows so I hope this turns out to be cool, with all the experience under JJs belt I can't imagine it being to bad. But Joshua Jackson is not a movie star, he never managed to impress in his movie roles, but I could buy him in a TV show.

No matter how good of an actor you are, you're limited by Lucas' direction in any of the prequel movies. Lucas' response to critcism that the acting was wooden was "no it wasn't."
Well Lucas never had any use with actors

He has maintained as much. He said actors are not important in his films, he is mainly interested in the pictures, and using pictures to tell stories. The new trilogy was a misfire pure and simple, however, anyone who knows Lucas should not be surprised, it was all written in stone.
