U2-3D was okay

The 3D was done extremely well, but the mix really took me out of it. First of all, it was not loud enough. I want to feel like I'm there, and even IMAX volume levels don't cut it. Second, the directional vocals threw me off. When Bono was off screen, or any of the rest of the band, you could pinpoint where they were in relation to the screen by their instrument coming out of the speakers. This is great in an actual film, but not what I want with a concert film. Give me a balls to the wall great mix, and don't worry about the little tricks. Besides that, the performance was one of the most uninspired I've heard from U2 in awhile. Still good, but not as good as some of the DVD's on performances I've seen.

douchebags who yell out "Firsties!!!2!" So maybe there's an upside.

Anyway, very solid reviews Cap'n. I'm especially looking forward to U2-3D...so I can heckle them as if I were at a real U2 concert.

Nice one, Capone. Actually, I'm wondering if the problem of U2-3D is one that aside from die-hard fans like you and me, nobody else will really care about the show. I know U2 sells lots of cds and sells out shows, but this seems a bit risky to me. Still, I'm looking forward to checking it out. It beats paying ticket-prices. You are the shit, btw. You put all the other AICN crew to shame with how many reviews you grind out here. Thanks!

'The Fly' was written over fifteen years ago. Not really what I'd call 'newer material'.
A nice Bono story for ya...

Bono, lead singer of the rock band U2, is famous throughout the entertainment industry for being more than just a little self-righteous.

At a recent U2 concert in Glasgow, Scotland, he asked the audience for total quiet.

Then, in silence, he started to slowly clap his hands, once every few seconds.

Holding the audience in total silence, he said into the microphone, "Every time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies."

A voice with a broad Scottish accent from the front of the crowd pierced the quiet . . .

"Well, foockin stop doin' it then, ya evil bastard.....!"

I think that story has been floating around for the past 3 or 4 years. I also think that its untrue. A number of fan forums/sites such as Interference, U2Log, and @U2 have pretty much chalked it up to urban legend. Its funny as hell, but I don't think that its true.

I assume Capone was talking about songs like Vertigo, Love and Peace or Else, and others from How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb.

This place was extra stink while you were away. next time please leave your bottle of Lysol and your yellow toilet scrubbing gloves behind.

My only comment of relevance is that I'm leery of any Hollywood movie about the internet. They've been dreaming up sci-fi crackpot nonsense about how and why computers work ever since War Games.

Capone, there was a good cyber crimes movie...

Although it wasn't technically a movie but it feels like one. The exact same premise of Untraceable was done as an episode of the show Millennium over ten years ago. The episode is called The Mikado and it's about a serial killer who kidnaps someone, puts them on a website tied in a chair with a number on the wall behind them. When the hit counter reaches that number, he kills them. Just felt the need to give Chris Carter props since a lot of the "horror" that comes out today was obviously influenced by his shows. Christ, he practically invented torture porn on that show.

That and "With or Without You" were the highlights of the film in my opinion. Still, it doesn't compare to their Elevation Boston DVD.
