from untrained critics--not real fighters. I know of at least 1 critic who agreed to fight bowle, but when Boll found out guy had a few years experience in martial arts, boll backed out, saying that the offer only stands with those who have no boxing training. Boll, who used to box, is a bully. Hell, if he would let me, I'd fight his ass and have him sucking pavement in just a few short minutes. Not trying to be macho or anything, but I used to box, have been in the military, am 6'2" and 255 lbs. I'm pretty confident about kicking that twat's ass...

Never heard of him, but he seems to have his head screwed on pretty tight. I like his perspective that getting the role of Anakin might have cost him his wife, his children, etc. (Probably wasn't married at the time, so his life would have changed so dramatically, he wouldn't have met his wife or had his kids). He is "very happy", so why should he complain?

If for no other reason, Lucas is the one responsible for casting and he is the one who hired Little Miss Wood shop and Hayden. Somehow, some way, Lucas lost the knack for hiring people with charisma. Hell he was even able to single-handedly make Liam Neeson uninteresting, which is unheard of for an actor of his calibur. No, as it has ben pointed out countless times before, Lucas should have let other directors touch his baby while he handled production and editing.

I'm really into my martial arts, and trained Silat a few years back. Silat seems to be a pretty big influence on KFM (I imagine thru the Inosanto JKD lineage). It looks really interesting to me. My only query is if they address methods of closing range, or does the system solely concentrate on close quarters fighting?

Also Hayden was pretty terrible in my opinion, but the buck stops with Lucas.

I think Liam Neeson did a great job in TPM. For me, it was Portman that was totally the let-down of the trilogy. I said then and I say now that they should have replaced Portman with Knightly and the acting would have been far better. But yeah, it was a big mistake starting Anakin out as a child in TPM; he should have been around the same age as Luke was. As for Hayden bashers, tell me how his performance was less than Mark Hamill's back in the day. Lucas likes his young male characters whiney to show growth in their character arc as they become mature.
This is terrible and shocking.

The guy was a talented actor but he was also a father. I feel bad for his family, man. Everyone was getting so excited about his performance in THE DARK KNIGHT, including myself, and just when it looked like he was doing great things as a performer this has to happen. I just hope it wasn't drugs. It would be a fucking shame if both Brad Renfro and Heath Ledger, two bright young actors, were taken away within a week of each other by that shit. I'm really shocked by this one. RIP.

I don't know if any of you saw the extras on TPM but when they're showing the guy who was up against pussy boy - err, I mean the kid who got the role - he was a thousand times more interesting than him. He also looked like a badass little kid. Lucas dropped the ball on that one, as we know that whatever the kid's name was who got the part was maybe the worst casting in the history of film.

Definately Agree Anakin Shoulda Been Older From The Getgo
by LaserPants
Jan 22nd, 2008
07:41:29 PM
I think the worst element of the prequels is the irritating 10 year old Anakin of TPM. They shoulda met up with him when he was, like, 18 or so -- Luke's approx. age in ANH. Also, his "anger management issues" should have been established in TPM. So, he's this angry teen, a kick ass pilot, and lo and behold, he demonstrates crazy Force abilities, so the Jedi recruit him to aid in their defense of the Republic which is on the verge of a Civil War and etc. etc. continue...

And yet every single script review published at the time was wildly positive for all of the prequels. The only problem nerds had with the prequels is that they weren't the stories they wanted to see (uaaaaaa!! Anakin should have been an adult!!Fuck George Lucas!!). I'm also sick tired of people saying that George Lucas doesn't know how to work with actors. Go ahead and try to convince me that Ian Mcdiarmid, Liam Neeson, Ewan MacGergor, Ray Park, Samuel Jackson, Christopher Lee, Temuera Robinson, Frank Oz, Jimmy Smits, Hayden Christensend (yes fucks) and even freaking Watto didn't give great performances.

as soon as her eyeball almost got blown out while filming Episode 1. I guess that is somewhat understandable if you get stuck in a trilogy you don't want to be in from the get-go, but she just wasn't good in those films, and you get the feeling she had to be worked around some of the time.

Merrick: "OK, so you didn't get to play Anakin - how about scoring geek points by telling us how much the prequels sucked anyway." Garner: "Sure, they were lame toy commericals, and so was Jedi." M:"Oh, you're so right. Blade II was an awesome masterpiece though, right." Jeez, whatever. Yes, some of the dialogue was poor, but the prequels were otherwise brilliant. Blade II was an empty exercise in "badassness" (though I am a big fan of Del Toro). I hate how certain folks claim the PT was a failure just because they were disappointed. Personally, I have no interest in Harry Potter or Shrek, yet obvious I know they are successful movies.

Sam Jackson and Jimmy Smitts make me laugh in those movies. Jackson is horrible, miscast and wooden. Smitts wears a puffy pirate shirt, drives a floating convertible and utters awful lines like, "and so it ends." LOFL.

Lucas could have directed them. All we needed was Kasdan writing. How things could have been different. Now being a Star Wars fan is on par with being a Trekkie. Run for the hills!
A hand puppet would have been better than HC

Yoda (the puppet version) has 1000 times more charisma and presence on the screen than Hayden Christiansen! They could have seriously replaced him in post with a hand puppet and had a better movie. This guy would have done just as well too.
I'd watch AOTC before Jedi again

Pretty great for the first 3/4ths, then when the lead says "I can't lead you anymore," and his chick says, "We never asked you to be our leader," I would've said "HOW ABOUT THIS IS MY FUCKIN' TRIP?! YOU are coming with ME! NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND."

And how about kicking the brother's ass as soon as he burned that damned chair?! Why the hell was he vindicated? Nobody cares, I know.

I don't...he kinda came off as a wanker in the interview. Said well above that he trashes the PT but then laments not getting...BLADE2? Huh? Yes, the PT was a weak shadow in Star Wars mythos who's only real redemption is a handful of good scenes here and there (Palpatine/Ani at the opera; the Jedi Rumble at the end of CLONES), but ultimately, if anyone saw the IMAX cut ATOC I would rank it about as good as ROTJ. They slighly cut out 20 minutes...mercifully, almost every second cut was from the horrific Anakin/Padme sequences. Lucas may be the king of shitty dialogue, but every scene he wrote for those two the entire trilogy bordered on unwatchable. Cut from Clones for the IMAX cut made AOTC a fun film to watch. I was almost in tears walking out of clones to begin with because I didn't think Lucas could take such a horrific mis-step again as he did in TPM.

Dear Hank, If you worked with me on a film- state the title of the film and where it was shot. Then state your real name. Chances are you're a 'poser wanna' be.' Flame me all you want but don't come "with remember when he was so rude." Trust me, if you are legit and I was rude to you then you deserved it.
