I'm 99% positive it was just the first generation of 360s that red-ringed. From what I've heard, it was due to the motherboard heating up too much and flexing just enough to pop the CPU loose. Now they have cooler running parts. I had to get mine replaced exactly a year ago (the DVD drive failed; no red rings) and it's been fine ever since, and I've put some serious time into that thing. 140 hours into Oblivion alone...

All those cheap shots from guards while trying to duel 10 of them at once gets a little annoying, you know? And it was repetitive as all hell. Sure it looked snazzy and it was fun scaling buildings, but that wasn't enough to redeem the game in my eyes.

Original xbox live gamertag? How about "FLUFFER"? I've been using that for 5 years now and it never ceases to get a laugh.

What happend to that contest where Monki was looking for new contributors to the AICN gaming column? Did anyone get that? Just curious since I applied and never heard anything....

I'm totally dying to however. I love me the Bioware RPGs... It sounds kind of dorky, but these days, I'm all about Mario Galaxy for the wii. It's the most innovative & fun game I've played in ages.

And to the guy above talking about the block button in Assasin's Creed... sorry, but you cannot convince me that the combat system in that game is anything but pure garbage. 10 guards surrounding you taking turns hitting you in the back is nothing than can be countered. The combat is pure dreck.

...combat games with controls schemes that required timing never did it for me. I'm more of a button masher (think DMC) rather than a fan of elaborate Virtua Fighter style controls.

I snagged a wii for xmas and am currently enjoying it as much as the 360. Resident Evil 4 for the wii is also a revelation if you haven't played it... So much fun.

Seriously, Criterion fucked that one up so badly it's hard to believe. DJ Atomica can fuck right off, as can the lack of a restart option. I'd rather watch a 20 second loading screen than spend 2 minutes driving back to the start of a race. The first thing I did (after getting over the shock of how shit the demo was) was to cancel my pre-order for it.

Very few games out there take advantage of the wii's motion sensing gimmick. Hopefully that'll turn around in 08. You've got to nail that wiimote sense of fun down because otherwise, you've got got gamecube graphics and a lousy control scheme. Even worse, Microsoft is looking into the motion control thing now (the contracted the same company that nintendo used to design the wiimote). Like you said, the wii could be very screwed if they don't get some decent third part support out there.
yes, RE4 for the wii is worth it
by Rickey Henderson
Jan 8th, 2008
11:13:33 AM
heres why: it includes a new chapter from the PS2 version that you haven't played before. And also, the wii control scheme is awesome. You point the wiimote at the screen for some pinpoint precision. Headshots galore. I've played it on the gamecube too and this is better. It came out in the summer, so uou can probably get it used for cheap I'm thinking.

If you liked RE4 on the GC you will love it even more on Wii I think. Initially the controls feel odd, because it's quite different, but once you get used to them you'll love them. While the gestures are little more than waggling, they really add to the game. For example, repeatedly slicing the remote left and right like a knife triggers Leon to pull out his knife and start slashing, it's really intuitive after a while. I tried playing the PC version of RE4 and I kept shaking the joypad to trigger a reload instead of pushing the button! Seriously, I'm really worried that I'll not enjoy RE5 as much now that I'm hooked on motion controls.

Or perhaps your comment on 'more PSP/PS3 connectivity' was meant to include it without really saying anything... but Sony announced that with future blu-ray releases you can copy a smaller version of the film (probably already compressed and stored on the BD-rom) directly to a memory card for playback on your PSP! No idea if it's just for the memory stick duo, but given that they didn't specify, any memory stick might do, so any other player other than PSP that takes em might also work... well maybe it has to support the .mp4 or whatever format UMD might've been using, but still that's pretty cool, especially given that UMD movies are DVD quality even when played from the PSP Slim on your HDTV. Also it sucks that skype is only announced for PSP Slim, but I could live without it, let's just hope it doesn't start a trend of stuff that's only for the slim...

The PSP has had quite a few great games released in the last several months. Jeanne D'arc, Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow, and Final Fantasy Tactics are just a few of the better games released lately. I'm more of a DS fan, but the PSP's library is hardly anything to scoff at, especially with God Of War and FFVII: Crisis Core coming in the next couple months. and all small gaming devices, is what's the point of making the games look so good and have amazing soundtrackS. When you're gonna be playing it on such a tiny screen with rinky dinky speakers, for that I'll play it on my big screen TV in surround. Honestly, who plays games on the go? Only little kids with their DS. If I wanna play a game on a roadtrip. I hook up a console and a flat screen in my car. I guess I'm showing my age. I've never been a tiny gadget person. Maybe someone using their name and number doesn't really need to escape from his or her real life because all is going pretty ok. Perhaps that can be just as revealing of that individual as, say, the handle Darth Dork is of someone else. I'd never given it too much thought before, but I now I am starting to wonder just what type of insight I am getting into a guy (assumed) calling himself Monki. Hmmmm...not quite a gorilla...and replaced the "ey" with an "i." Kind of a girly move unless your real name is Chachi in which case it would be totally understandable.

Team Fortress 2 may be complete perfection in a online fps. I've played A LOT over the years, and I haven't had that much fun since the Quake 1 grappling days (the glorious grapple/rocket combo). Seriously all the games have "Ratings" on the box. Just like Films do. Be a fucking parent. Read the box! Would you buy your little Kid an R or X rated Movie. No! Well most people wouldn't... Hold you stores- Not the game makers responsible for minors purchasing games that are not to be sold to thier age group. That doesn't mean hiding the games behind the counter at Walmart- We don't hide film DVD's from the sight of minors. What that means is make sure the stores Check I.D. before selling a game... But whatever you do make sure too keep the Government the fuck out this shit!!! We have the ESB and it conducts itself in the same manner that the MPAA does!------------ Now to start another post- One that the Fuckers running for Pres and the shitheels in Capital Hill should put an end too when it comes to Childrens wellfair and betterment.. You know what that is!!!! Junk food, Sugary Cereal and Fast Food commercials on TV geared towards Children------------ Remember me saying be a parent. Well the excuse of being a parent in regards to this is out of the parents hands because the "Gun" / "Ad" is pointed in our kids faces. The commercials are placed on networks like the Cartoon Network and so on. With offers of cool prizes some of which are related to kids shows and kid movies. And they do this shit so they can hook your kid in on a sale. That's no different then showing an R rated trailer commercial when a child is watching a G rated show. It's time to stop this SHIT!!!!!!!!!!! No more cartoon characters and kiddy prizes to sell foods that aren't healthy. No more kid meals. If that Lesbo bitch really loves the Children then she can stand up on this issue. They need to stop selling junk food to the kids. Harry's fat ass couldn't ignore them- Neither could Drew's or Quint's. Eating habits start at childhood, and it's real hard to be a parent and enforce our views when our kids are exposed to the gun day in and day out, so much so that it seems criminal to not buy the child Fruit Loops or a Happy meal from time to time. They are fucking with our kids and it needs to STOP!!! The gun is the ad the ad is placed strategically in our kids face. How many of your kids have to have the Happy meal for the fucking toy. Surely even a Cereal prize inside situation did this as well. Why this country cant see that this is no fucking different than an R rated ad for an up and coming film on a G rated kids station is beyond me!!! But then again we got alot of chubby fuckers in this country! Lets end this shit!!!!! Fuck the Dove Foundation and that Nurse Kratchet looking Carpet Muncher.----------- I'm mad, mad at how certain things are still sneaking past trail, while other things such as the game industry- who self polices- is getting fucked with!!!!

Wow. You lost me at "vote for Ron Paul"
by ZeroCorpse
Jan 8th, 2008
03:24:26 PM
Because he's a fundamentalist Christian who favors allowing states to criminalize abortion, teach creationism in public schools, do away with the FBI, CIA, and through the end of the IRS, the local police and fire departments as well (unless he thinks people would do these jobs without a government paycheck). He's an isolationist who wants us to pull out of the U.N. and do away with trading with most of the world. He wants to COMPLETELY end immigration, so that American "melting pot" would be stopped by his little Iron Curtain.

He does not believe in evolution, has the endorsement of the Ku Klux Klan and other racist groups, is on record making anti-semitic and racist comments (which his apologists claim were "ghost written" for him against his will. . . Riiiight.) and has been a guest on the Morton Downey Jr. show (the 80s Jerry Springer) where he screamed at audience members, advocated legalizing heroin and cocaine, and verbally assaulted members of New York City's Guardian Angels, an organization that RISKED THEIR LIVES to help people while "Dr" Paul sat safely in his expensive mansion.

He is NOT for freedom, NOT for liberty, and NOT a liberal in any way, shape, or form. His philosophy is closer to Ayn Rand's Objectivism, or even textbook fascism, than "constitutionalist."

The number of naive, deluded, fucked-in-the-head people who are supporting his is astounding, especially when you find out that a shit-ton of them turned to Ron Paul after watching "Zeitgeist" which is a piece of BULLSHIT propaganda with NO references, NO proper citations, and an assload of debunked statements in it. (Parts 1 and 2 were somewhat credible. Part 3 is complete conspiracy theory bullshit with almost no basis in reality).

Let me say this clearly, to my fellow liberals: THE ROCKEFELLERS DO NOT WANT TO PUT RFID CHIPS IN YOU! They couldn't care less about a peon like you. The Federal Reserve CANNOT be removed by a President without the support of the other branches of the government, and Ron Paul would *never* have that. The IRS is *necessary* if you like things like roads, health standards, police, firefighters, libraries, schools, clean water, clean air, parks, public beaches, and pretty much everything that makes you comfortable as a modern American. NO CONGRESSMAN would ever vote to do away with the IRS.

The Gold Standard is useless these days because it would do NOTHING to remove the power from the richest people. They'd just horde the gold instead of the legal tender. It's all the same, and it will NOT suddenly put you on some sort of even footing with the richest people in the world.

Legalizing ALL drugs and ALL guns is a bad idea, but that's what Ron Paul wants. Sure, legalize pot, and LSD, and maybe a few "light" recreational drugs, but HEROIN? CRACK? COCAINE? in a world where ALL GUNS are now legal without a license or background check, and the police don't collect paychecks from your taxes?!?!

Ron Paul is an isolationist, Ayn Randian kook, and I can understand why some liberals were misled into thinking he was somehow about liberty and freedom. He's not. DO SOME RESEARCH and you'll see he's a dangerous man who would be WORSE than Bush, and YOU ARE BEING LIED TO about his plans, intentions, policies, and background.

Seems to be "Leave it up to the states", which is (like in all his issues) because he knows that uber-conservative states (like his home of Texas) would vote to censor, ban, or criminalize M-rated games. He may not have stated this policy publicly, but most of his policies are about "leaving it up to the states" and it's because he knows that heavily Christian states will become little City-State Theocracies, and he's COUNTING ON IT.

Back in the day, playing Medal of Honor on PC, I used the name Evil_Dead_Ash for online games. My roommate used the name Mr_Belding. Anyway, when I started playing MMO's, I knew that was too long of a name, and stupid, to use for MMO's, so I somehow came up with the name Dashl. Well, maybe it was just Dash, and then I added the "L" since I was playing Star Wars Galaxies and Dash was taken. Anyway, I used Dashl for SWG, EQ2, EQOA, xbox live, the two weeks I played WoW, and the beta for Pirates of the Burning Sea. I still use Dashl for XBOX live, Dashl for LOTRO, and Dashl- for PS3(made me mad I had to add that at the end). I have used the name for so long, and all my friends know it, I have even been called that at work.

as in Red Rings of Death (Xbox 360) you're better off getting the Arcade edition as the newer models now have an updated motherboard and heat sink which prevents overheating and the loud jet engine noise associated with the 360. Other than that, the superman clip was fucking hillarious, now f only i could do the same thing to my GF. muahhahahahaha

The Splinter Cell series, the Rainbow Six series, the two Knights Of The Old Republic games, Def Jam: Fight For NY, pretty much anything Rockstar does (Manhunt, The Warriors, Red Dead Revolver etc), Rocky Legends, Chronicles Of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay, Deathblow...those are a few of my faves anyways. Happy gaming.

My kids and I are currently enjoying Bioshock. It's an FPS that takes place in an underground city that went from being a utopia to a ruined city with various mutants running around. It's got cool things for you to do, like hacking security bots so they help you instead of hurt you. You can give yourself different abilities by changing your DNA. You can modify your weapons as you advance in the game. Anyway, it's a pretty unique and fun game, at least we think so. The Big Daddys are awesome.

Recently I've been really enjoying this game called Mass Effect. It's this 3rd person action shooter RPG that takes place out in the solar system where humanity is just starting to explore. It's got a lot of fun things to do, like talking to people and choosing all sorts of different replies. You can go into the menu screen and apply points to your body so that you can do all these new things. You can even modify your weapons in these menus! But really, it's a pretty big and fun game, at least I think so. The asari are awesome.

This coverage = PATHETIC

seriously, AICN should just drop the games section if this is how you're going to cover it. the "first next gen" statement is so fucking stupid that i could spend a page writing about games over the previous 16 months that prove this statement is made by a retard. but the worst offense by far is your lack of coverage on METAL GEAR SOLID 4. don't you fucking get that it is easily the biggest and most important title of 2008? don't you get it's more anticipated that the majority of bullshit movies and t.v. shows out there (including indy 4, sorry shia nut-sack lickers). you didn't even call it by it's proper name in the half sentence you devoyted to it. this article is dog shit through and through.

...it's an overrated franchise, much like Halo, that is overhyped by kneepad wearing, manpickle guzzling cheerleaders, much like yourself.
