I couldnt be more excited abut Iron Man and the Hulk though. Glad to see Obadiah Stanes IRON MONGER looking pretty bad ass as the main villain in this flick.

Hopefully the Iron Man / Hulk tie in isn't something lame like when you saw Thomas Jane on the street in Spiderman 2, and you got that supergeek feeling of... "ooohhhh baby.. Spiderman / Punisher story".

One of those things where if you blink you would miss it.

Anyhow, just wanted y'all to think a bit on exactly how wonderful all this is. Surely it'd be better if they had as much a clue with the Superman franchise, and if Spidey 3 hadn't fallen on its face, but hey, ya can't have everything. Where would you put it?

TERMINATOR 4 update! Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. The big talk of the internet right now is a rumor over at CHUD concerning McG possibly stepping behind the camera for T4.

I’ve been so busy this week that even though I read a great story posted by Devin Faraci over on CHUD, I forgot to link to it. And trust me... this is one that’s worth a talkback. I can’t get over the awkwardly silly title of TERMINATOR SALVATION: THE FUTURE BEGINS, which just seems excessive. I take the movies as being separate from the books, and that means that certain little things can be different without it being devastating.

However, even the 616 universe has its share of fuck-ups. Look at what happened to Spider-Man just this past week--- Joe Quesada completely FUCKED UP the book by retconning Pete's marriage out of existence, bringing Harry back from the dead, and making Pete's recent unmasking forgotten in a poof of magic courtesy of a deal with Mephisto. Oh, yeah, and Peter lives with his Aunt again.

So the movies aren't the only ones to fuck up Marvel characters. As it stands, the movies have a better version of Spider-Man than the one that remains after JQ's fuck-roll on the character. At least movie Peter is out of his Aunt's house.

Iron Man should rock. The new Hulk should be pretty good too (as long as he's not red... More JQ fucking-with-Marvel stuff). An Avengers movie would be awesome, but it would be incomplete if they fail to cast just the right person as Jarvis.

And that's a tough call.

At the end when Mary Jane is running through the park with her wedding dress on, Tom Jane can be seen glancing at her while she runs past. (He is not in any kind of costume, however he is dressed all in black with the black dyed hair. Jane admits it was him. Well, at least according to an interview done in Wizard Magazine)

I've had a look and if its not Jane, its a pretty good look alike. (Look for the dude on the right by the fountain as Mary Jane runs past) I could remember seeing it in the Theater and my girlfriend and I lit up like christmas trees we smiled huge cheshire cat smiles and she said "Was that?!?!.... NO FUCKING WAY... Ohhhhh baby.. Punisher Spidey crossover"

Ang Lee is a crappy director. He mistakes "moodiness" for depth.

The father issues were fine with me (better when Peter David came up with it on his run, but...) --- My problem was the execution. Bana sucked. Ang Lee's direction for him was "OK, now look introspective. . . And hold that for another 90 minutes."

Gag me. It's THE HULK. He's not supposed to spend more time moping than he does smashing things. So far, the best representation of the Hulk that I've seen on a screen has been "The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction" for the XBox. The story was in-line with Hulk history. The portrayal of the Hulk was accurate (violent and monstrous, instead of just a bigger, greener Frankenstein's monster). The villains made sense and were interesting.

I'm convinced Ang Lee wanted to make a Frankenstein movie, but was turned down, so he used his ideas in The Hulk, to disastrous effect.

So no, I will not stop bashing Ang Lee's Hulk. Nor will I stop bashing Tim Burton's Batman. Both sucked and missed the point of the characters entirely, and in doing so they betrayed the fans who would pay to see those movies.

But the one thing he got right, and the new movie will suffer for not having, is he cast Sam Elliott as Thunderbolt Ross

And, hence, you just obviated how little you truly know about the Hulk character.

In that game (as if 40+ years can be summed up adequately in any game), the Hulk was more a machination at the beck and call of Banner and Samson. The big, green guy was not the Hulk character insomuch as he was A character. He was like a humanoid RC under control. The persona of the Hulk was not present at all. Didn't you pay attention to the talksy parts?

You threw in the 'Frankenstein' angle, so I give you at least that much credit. But ultimately (no pun intended), Hulk is not about smashing. Hulk is about being left alone. I find it sad that the parody Young Frankenstein 'got' the Hulk way more than any Hulk movie ever will. Ang's Hulk will be much more accurate compared to the source material than anything Norton's ego is a part of.

I would have less of a problem with the new Hulk if they weren't hitting the reset button. If you want more action then use the first movie as the set up and continue from there. I don't think those who disliked the original would care and you won't alienate those of us who liked the first film. Even if the new Hulk is a great film, you can be sure I'll be downloading it in protest.

My main problem with that last point is that the movie lacked one audience-involving turning point, when the crisis upon the Hulk really touches you and you can feel empathy for him while he's transforming. It's not about how many choppers or tanks he'll take down but more "how much shit can one man take before going insane". I never really felt that for Bruce and that lack of identification combined with green poodle makes this movie half the kickass flick it could've been to me.

As for the Hulk/Iron Man connection, did anyone mentioned if Downey would be in Hulk 2, or rather William Hurt will be in Iron Man? Sounds unclear to me.

It's a shame cause I'm pretty sure Leterrier will never find such a balance either, making just a "Hulk SMASH" fun but shallow ride to please the Ang Lee "haters" as if they were all brainless buffoons hungry for destruction. Some are, indeed, but I'm pretty sure many people were as frustrated as me with the lack of empathy for Banner and are just asking for more "meaningful" action.
