I respect raimi, I really do, but I don't think his style is good for the hobbit at all. It should be Jackson Dammit!!!

I love this title, it might have made for a better Harold and Kumar movie.

Including a comeback from Teen Wolf Too. AND Silver Spoons. Impressive.

"The Waterhose" eh? What was that you were saying about writing mate? ;)

As for the Eastern Promises thing, you do know what happens. Remember that scene from Fight Club?

"Written for the screen and directed by Sean Penn" is about the least cumbersome way to get all the info in a single line.

StealthBeagle, how about "Screen play and Direction by ..." or "Adapted and Directed by ..."?

They're so...blah. I verge on disliking them, but there just isn't any passion to it. Its like these people know that this is just filler before they go off and win something that's a bit more worthy of attention. And Channel 9...Fuck me dead, couldn't ask for anyone worse.

Looking forward to the "Best of" list. Although, didn't we already see it on Bazura? Are you going for the "Favourite" and "Best" lists?

Seriously, if PJ himself is too busy, get her to do it. She paid her dues with LOTR and she'd help provide continuity for the project.

Just checked out the site and making of vids, I'd say it looks like it might be a good look but given that the making of vids are nothing more than minute long shots of people laughing, walking around (and watching 2 girls 1 cup ???WTF???) there's not much to say. Seriously dudes, watch the clusterfucksplosion making of vids that exist for Four Eyed Monsters, give us a bit of a more extended view of what you're doing and raise your game a tad lads (especially when you have something that doesn't look or sound too shabby).
Oscar bait?

I AM LEDGER and NO COUNTRY FOR OLDMAN are clearly shameless attempts by the studios to puke out some Oscar bait. Still, my money is on Gary.

In other news, please keep Sam Raimi FAR away from THE HOBBIT. Personally my ideal choice would be Guillermo Del Toro based on the look, design, and tone of PAN'S LABYRINTH. I like PJ although I think he needs a strong producer (like Barrie Osborne during LOTR) to balance his wilder indulgences (like in KING KONG), but I suspect if he served as a mentor on the project Neill Blomkamp could possibly pull it off and do a damn fine job. He certainly would have something to prove. Just my two cents... Peace y'all.

half-vadar: I wrote Waterhose? Fuck, that just made my day.
bloo: Clearly, you are a very perceptive person. Send me a link to your review, I'd like to take a look.
chrth: Genius.
Artifakts: Slightly different list to the Bazura one. Bazura was (for me, anyway) 2007 Australian releases because it's on Aus TV. On AICN, I feel less restricted, so I'm including '08 releases like No Country, Blood and Juno. OR DID I? You'll have to wait and see.

I like his work but he just doesn't feel right for directing the Hobbit. I like the suggestion about Fran though. Just bring PJ in for the Battle of Five Armies scene and the Seige of Dol Guldur in the second movie.

...sensibility in the Hobbit. Wilderland would look so sterile and clean as to be mistaken for...another Narnia? I'd personally like Jackson's zombie gored finger smears all over it than the Goody Two-shoes Fairy Dust Adamson. Yeah, I know the Hobbit was written for children but even Tolkien's kids lambasted pop for taking that approach. Besides, for better or worse, it must coincide with Jackson's LotR for continuity.
Mikey_Bay should direct Hobbitses.

This would totally overturn fandom and make for some MOST interesting talkbacks, to boot.
