Give me a decent preview. I don't want to sit through ten minutes of a film online and then go see the same ten minutes in the theaters. The alternative is to make an accompanying short film like Wes Anderson did for Darjeeling Limited. That was a good idea.

Hanks and Hoffman are the Kirk Douglas and Burt lancaster of modern cinema. Seriously, their nuances and delivery is pure delight and this film looks to strike the right balance of humour, thought provocation and satire thanks to Mike Nicols assured directing skills. Cant wait to see this in UK.

It does get sort of annoying seeing all these 5-10 minute clips of movies before they're even out. If teasers/trailers aren't instrumental enough for studios to put peoples' asses in the seats and they have to resort to slapping 1/10th of the movie onto the net then there is a huge problem.

Hanks, Roberts, Hoffman, Nichols, Sorkin. That's a pretty formidable line-up to be selling but the posters, trailers and commercials for this have looked terrible. Right now it's 80% positive on RT. It looks like the ad wizards at Universal have no idea how to sell a classy project.

Well, yeah... I was actually born in '83, but my alias is a play on words. Topher Grace was the main actor from That 70s Show and was the actor who played Venom in Spider-Man 3 so I just combined the 2 for this name, LOL. But I digress. I agree with you, trailers used to be more enigmatic and more enticing. But the state of trailers today isn't so much what worries me. What truly worries me is the looming potential for movie studios to start charging people like $50-$100 bucks as an online fee to download an entire film instead of having people go to the theatres to watch it. The digital home entertainment industry has been steadily on the incline and I'm sure they wouldn't shy away from one more way to make money.
Xiphos - why i will VOTE FOR RON PAUL
by shogunshin
Dec 21st, 2007
11:36:34 PM
Xiphos, no one is paying me! but if ron paul wins, i will make THOUSANDS of dollars extra per year. right now, in the USA, an average worker has to work FOUR months of the year to pay income tax to the BANKERS of the world. FOUR MONTHS FOR SOME FREAKS in Europe??? screw that, and fuck them. me, i want to keep my OWN money. no one is paying me. do your research, if you have a library by you, and go look to see who owns the PRIVATELY owned FED. you are paying taxes and INTEREST on the very dollars in your pocket. heck, if you want to believe the mainstream media, i guess you can keep doing so. me, i did the research, and these people are stealing our money. here are some sobering facts to google - NORTH AMERICAN UNION, who owns the fed, rothschilds, AMERO, and last, google RON PAUL videos to decide yourself. i am not telling anyone to VOTE FOR RON PAUL, i am just saying, i will VOTE FOR RON PAUL. its not a tin foil wearing conspiracy, that is what the military industrial complex's own media corporations want YOU to think like. me you ask? i never let ANYONE tell me how to think, especially CNN, ABC, or any other bullshit corp owned by rupert murdoch. listen, make YOUR OWN DECISIONS, do YOUR OWN RESEARCH, and end the bankers rule today. that is why, in 2008, i am going to VOTE FOR RON PAUL!!! do you want to live in the UNITED STATES Of AMERICA, or, do you want to live in the NORTH AMERICAN UNION? if you want to lose our soverignty, keep paying a scam income tax that makes the bankers rich, spend trillions of dollars a year on war, and you yourself, lose your freedom of speech, then that is your perogative. me, i fucking LOVE being an AMERICAN. i love the fucking constituion. and i fucking LOVE the USA. so in 2008, i am going to VOTE FOR RON PAUL!

Julia Roberts in trailer: With one word she displays her sucky a
by ZeroCorpse

"Chaahlie!"

Really. In the trailer for "Carlie Wilson's War" I'm driven to dislike Ms. Roberts yet again. How she is considered the member of her family who is Oscar-worthy is beyond me. She has so very little skill with dialects, and she tends to play one of three different characters: The idealistic lone woman, the saucy metropolitan, and the downhome darlin'.

Her voice grates on me with just ONE word in the trailer. I love Tom Hanks, but I don't think I can watch this movie due to the presence of the most overrated white actress in the whole of Hollywood.

Here's a hint to the masses: Julia Roberts didn't make Pretty Woman good. It was Richard Gere carrying her sorry ass for the whole film. She also didn't make Erin Brockovich good- It was her costumer and bra designer who managed that feat.

Julia Roberts always, always, ALWAYS sucks. She's less deserving of a major acting award than Halle Berry. At least we have a good idea why Halle Berry got hers. It's a complete fucking mystery why anyone would give an award for acting to Julia Roberts.

Short title lines. Grr.
shogunshin, you're being naive.
by ZeroCorpse
Dec 22nd, 2007
11:23:56 AM
First of all, Ron Paul as President would NOT have the power to do away with the IRS or return us to the Gold Standard. We have THREE BRANCHES of government, dumbass. Congress and the Senate would never vote for such measures, and the Supreme Court would likely support the Federal Reserve's claims and back up the IRS on most cases that involved doing away with them. So this part of the Ron Paul bullshit is just that: PANDERING BULLSHIT.

Same goes for legalizing drugs. The President can't just issue a decree and make drugs legal. He'd have to go through the legislative branch, and they will turn it down flat, and fight it tooth and nail. Again, you're being naive.

Finally, no Ron Paul zombie ever wants to admit it, but Ron Paul is a fundamentalist Christian isolationist who pushes for States to have the right to make their own laws regarding the Separation of Powers, or specifically, the right to make abortions illegal, enforce religious teaching in public schools, and allow states to make civil rights laws that run contradictory to current federal laws. He wants the states to have this power because he KNOWS that a large number of "red states" will IMMEDIATELY outlaw abortion, turn around civil rights laws, and start teaching evolution in public schools.

RON PAUL is USING the unintelligent liberals and the conspiracy theory supporting libertarians to bring a fundamentalist Christian, veiled racist agenda to this country. Under Ron Paul's ideal, we'd have a bunch of city-states that would actually be able to IGNORE the Constitution (despite Paul's saying he's a "strict Constitutionalist") and we'd see a large number of people disenfranchised in their own home state because the law suddenly turns against them and anyone of their political background. We'd have whole states that would find every way possible to make it hard to be an atheist or liberal when within their borders, and we'd have states that would feel downright hedonistic and oppressive to conservatives within those borders.

Ron Paul is NOT liberal in ANY sense of the word. He CANNOT disband the IRS. He CANNOT get rid of the Federal Reserve. He CANNOT legalize drugs. He is on record having made racist remarks, is an admitted fundamentalist Christian, and is supported openly by the KKK, David Duke, and other organizations that stand for intolerance, hatred, racism, and anti-Semitism.

The only other people supporting Ron Paul are conspiracy theorists, naive college students who think they'll have legalized drugs under Dr. Paul, and uninformed, lazy people who don't bother to do a little research and find out that Ron Paul is indeed very conservative and quite against PERSONAL freedoms if they run contrary to his religious point of view.

He's using the "states rights" red herring to make people think he's not pushing for a ban on abortion. He is. He has sponsored bills AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL that have tried to make it a crime to have an abortion no matter what the harm to the mother may be. He has made attempts to define life as beginning at the moment of conception. He has come out and said he doesn't trust Black men, because they're mostly criminals. He is a BAD MAN who lies to the naive to make them think he's all about freedom and liberty.

Ron Paul is a wolf in sheep's clothing, and I'll kindly ask the Ron Paul cult to STAY THE FUCK OUT OF AICN. I see enough of your crazy "Zeitgeist" believing shit on YouTube.

As to "Zeitgeist"-- Some may be true, but you can't believe everything you see on video. Just because someone says it's true (and doesn't provide references) doesn't mean it IS true. Either way, you can't vote out of fear, and you shouldn't be stupid enough to think the President has ANY ability to undo things like the IRS, the Federal Reserve, or the war on drugs. Should these things all go away? Yes. Is Ron Paul capable of doing it? NO.

END OF LINE

For the record...
by ZeroCorpse
Dec 22nd, 2007

I'm a far-left liberal with a few libertarian ideals. I want drugs and prostitution legalized. I want the Second Amendment to remain unchanged. I want civil rights for everyone regardless of race, religion, or sexual orientation. I want us out of Iraq. I want more environmentalist commitments from the government. I want tax-funded universal health care. I want religion OUT of the schools and government.

I certainly don't want a fundamentalist Christian to be calling the shots again. We got enough of that from George W. Bush.

First of all, I KNOW that Machine Girl isn't trying to take itself seriously. I never said it was. Moreover, simply by virtue of the fact that a movie doesn't take itself seriously it doesn't automatically mean that the movie is good. I could list a plethora of HORRIBLE movies that don't take themselves seriously, so do not for one second think that lack of sincerity in a movie is an instant qualifier for greatness. Furthermore, I've seen Planet Terror, and I thought it was largely scant in a lot of areas. Not to mention it just isn't my kind of movie to begin with. By the way, you were spot on with your comments about taking a dump and jerking off, because those activities involve about the same about of mental stimulation that watching that piece of shit film does. You can enjoy the movie all you want, but it doesn't mean I have to lie and say that you have good taste in movies.
