This show has been solid from the start and only kept getting better as it went on. The idiots who palmed it off as just another Quantum Leap without giving the show its due appreciation are as brainless and blind as the studio execs who cancelled it. Bionic Woman they put a fortune behind trying to keep afloat and exceptional shows as good as Journeyman has become gets judged by its viewing figures? Do these guys ever WATCH any of these shows themselves, or are they simply system analysts who can only communicate in the language of numbers? BojTrek, yesterdays episode was great, Dan leaves something behind in the past and the future technology changes dramatically!

by Jor-El23
Dec 19th, 2007

at the beginning. I still liked it just because the leaper was going back and forth from the past to his present life so they added the new wrinkle of missing time, his family dealing with it, etc...but then they add another layer with Livia and then Dr. Langely and they just keep layering and it becomes much more.

Old Livia...
by Strabo
Dec 19th, 2007
09:23:54 AM
...there are several episodes where Livia shows up on Dan's travels in the past to help where she brings a car. Dan asked her where she got the car in one episode. Livia replied that she borrowed it. An educated guess is that Old Livia is still alive, or at least, her 1948 husband is, sometime in Dan's present (or at least during his sojourns in the past) and that she's borrowing the car from herself or her husband.

Mr Saxon, your best bet is torrents/newsgroups. I believe Sci-Fi has aired the Christmas Specials at the start of the new seasons when they start airing them six to nine months after they debuted on the BBC.

Giving up on NBC...
by Philvis
Dec 19th, 2007
09:41:27 AM
Minus Chuck, NBC isn't giving me a reason to watch anything new they put on. Heroes, which I loved the first season, stunk this season. Journeyman is a great show I happily watch each week and am very disappointed in NBC apparently dropping it. The Monday 10 o'clock hour on NBC is a death wish. I invested a few months last year on the Black Donnelly's and that was axed pretty quick. Whatever happened to changing the time you put a show on before you give up on it? I realize NBC pools all their money on ER and Deal or No Deal, but they really need to stop giving up on shows so soon before they do anything to better the ratings. Hey, we do have fresh Conan and Leno shows coming back on Jan 2nd though...woohoo(sarcastically said).

dead zone last season was absolute crap, with micheal piller gone, it just went into a tailspin. but what a kick in teh teeth for fans that the whole armgeddon storyline that was thought the whole series was not concluded. what a fucking joke! honestly the 4400 fortold exactly what is happening to heroes, the mini series was excellent, then the pseudo mulder and sculler partnership came to teh forefront and it went absolute crap. they had such a great headstart and the story telling went down the fucking tubes. baby into adult wtf?!?!? not surprised about the 4400. and heroes which is essentially teh same is heading down the same route. They killed Walt (one of the best characters on the show) which opened the way for Johnny to play house with Sara. So we get a whole season of cutesy crap. They wanted to pull in more females and wound up turning away the rest of the male audience that was the back bone of the show. The last season was horribly painful.

So the only show left on USA that is interesting is Burn Notice. Monk is way past stale and it's follow on show Psych is geared to down syndrome and serious head trauma viewers.

NBC seems happy to let JM go, especially with their CRAP reality shows going, as well as that full season order on Chuckie and ol' Medium starting up again. JM was just too over their heads, and apparently too intellectual for many talkbackers here- just remember folks quality shows like this are RARE- so hope you're loving The Biggest Loser and that Choir show cuz you're gonna get lots more from this network before you see much more intelligent fantasy or sci-fi. Gotta LUV it!! Finally folks, Life On Mars is a GREAT show, but FAR from "Journeyman done right"- that's like comparing Andromeda to Babylon 5- night and day folks, despite their simularities. I can't be anything but pissed off at the NBC execs for not giving JM the same opportunities it's given Friday Night Lights, or even Chuck (which probably chased off more Monday veiwers from anything intelligent later at night than helped). Morgan isn't even a third rate Sock (from Reaper) and I'm sure that Chuck's writers could never match the quality in plotting and dialog found in a single ep of JM- sad to watch when you have the 2 to compare to each other- again night and day. One positive light to the NBC execs was their deciding to chop the Heroes season off when they did- Hope their writers take the break to learn more about PROPER comic style plotting and not be SO redundant next year. Maybe they should go after a few comic writing vets (is that the same Gerry Conway writing for Law and Order that wrote for Marvel in the 70's?-- HIRE HIM!)and not folks currently writing (well, not "writing" per see- more "rehashing") current comics. Watch this net sink even farther before it remotely gets better. I'll be pateintly watching the news for some exec firings REALLY soon- not for their treratment of JM, as much as ALL of their "wonderful" programming choices. Hope their resume's are in order... With the strike on, what better time for them to stke out Friday or Saturday nights for choice reruns of shows they've already paid for, like Battlestar, JM, even Surface, Heroes (1st season) and even (gulp!)Chuck- with perhaps production commentary, or behind the scenes info on the shows (like BBC America does- stuff that can go into a collector's dvd collection), heck, they could run the revamped Treks from Paramount and probably make better numbers that what they're getting now, but NOPE- here comes the next season of The Biggest Loser!!! Well, really, the "biggest" losers are all of us folks looking for GOOD entertainment isn't it?

Journeyman’s strength was how we saw the lead character return to the present to see what he’d done. We see what happened to this or that character as opposed to a hologram from the future saying, “Okay, the future is a nicer place now; time to quantum leap!” Yet the downside of this was how too much time in the present reduced the ability of the “past,” to create any needed nostalgia. His time in the past was too short to enjoy the premise of time travel. He just jumps back, says hello, tells a milquetoast to marry the girl he loves, and then he leaves. This is probably why the set decorators clearly didn’t bother to do anything to alter “San Francisco” in the past, even in the most subtle way. I remember an episode of Freaks & Geeks where I was fascinated by a little detail like a video game rack in the background, filled with original boxes of Atari 2600 classics. Even when Quantum Leap lacked the budget to add such detail, Sam would narrate an anecdote or two about each time period: what he liked about it, and in a sense, why he loves to time travel. That’s the sort of FUN that this series should’ve had. It didn’t…and it’s probably cancelled now.
HaLo.

Just a fantastic episode, and it completely blows that this might be it. The stuff with Evan was gold, pure and simple, right from the get-go, alternating between hilarious and WTF in equal measure. Jack was awesome at the lecture, just great and totally in character. HUGE questions regarding the ability of people to somehow 'remember' the apparently overwritten past...I'm just sick. I think it would've been easier to take if they'd just phoned in the last few eps, but they didn't, and kudos to them for that.
And yeah...HUGE THANKS TO KEVIN AND CAST AND CREW.

Thought it was cool that everyone got to say their goodbyes, Dan "knew" what was going on, his wife accepting and agreeing to be his anchor, Livia saying goodbye, and in the end the "proof" to Kate that it wasn't all in Dan's head. Just great. So, unless the NBC execs want to start this over, on a better night, with a little more respect, then I say let it be. NBC still has all the eps on their site (for now) and Amazon has an open e-mailing list so folks can be notified when the dvd set is coming out, and quite frankly considering the network dolts in charge that is as much as we can hope for. Probably lucky that all the eps got aired in the first place. Everyone involved with the show should be VERY proud of their work, even if it did go unnoticed and misunderstood. This was a CLASSIC and VERY SMART show, even if it was only 13 episodes. Bravo!

It was a great way for a show to end , considering no-one could know for sure that it would be ending. (honestly, the last few minutes felt like it was a planned alternative rather than the way the episode was originally meant to end, all the way down to the rest of the episode feeling rushed in order to deftly tack on the extra footage) But this show, and ending touched me in a very personal way that I am almost afraid to admit here, but feel compelled to. .....

A few years ago, I tried a little experiment of my own related to these things. Now, don't assume I think I am or know time travelers or something completely insane like that. I do not. I even started a group to follow the results in livejournal called "Dear Tomorrow". There was a satellite being sent up with a "time capsule". Anyone could send a message to the future.

But I will miss it. One of the very few shows I took the time to watch live. And I know I said I would watch CSI Miami from now on as a Fuck You to NBC but I've thought about it and I really hate CSI Miami and my viewing habits aren't monitered anyway so it would be a futile gesture and the only person it would adversely affect is me by having to watch that dreck. So at 10pm Monday I will probably watch that night's previously recorded episode of Chuck or Heroes, sans commercials.

I loved the line "I'm getting married in two hours and fifty years ago".

So I sent this very specific message to what should be 50,000 years in the future. It was pretty simple. If there are time travelers, I asked for a visit. In a specific place, specific date, specific hour. The weeks waiting for the meeting time were exhilarating. When the time itself came, my heart was beating out of my chest. Deep inside, I knew nothing would come of it. But that little possibility, that little glimmer of hope made it one of the most exiting moments of my life.
So the time came. I noticed nothing unusual except a young couple browsing a few feet away and glancing back at me occasionally and saying something to each other. And here's the weird part...
It was the shoes. That's why that aspect (mentioned again tonight) caught my attention. These 2 people has the weirdest shoes. Style and material. I even mentioned it in the livejournal group. (scriptwriters google much??) I even joked that it was "always the shoes, huh?". So that really threw me a curve. (cont.)

In the end, it was just probably a weird couple that wore similar clothing and shoes, and they never spoke to me. I felt far too weird to actually approach them or anyone else there that day. But it is something I will attempt again through messages sent by other means. For fun. Honestly. I am pretty nuts, but I'm not insane. However, if I ever show up here saying that I've made contact with time travelers, I *AM* officially insane. Because if I did, in fact, ever meet anyone and have a conversation, I would be afraid to tell anyone. I'd hate to end up in the same place as Evan. But lastly, I will miss watching this show for many reasons, and some of them are personal. The fact is, it was entertaining as hell and it will be missed. Bring it back, Fammit!!!

I'm done with this piece of shit network. Canceling great shows like Journeyman rather than attempting to reschedule them (since it's on against both CSI AND Monday Night Football) shows exactly why you're coming in dead last, hopefully forever. Studio 60 and the Black Donnelly's didn't stand a chance. Nothing you put on in that timeslot stands a chance. Give up on the slot and stop dumping shows with potential. Losers.

This is such a great show, NBC. Please, pick it up for the second season. I promise to buy the DVDs. How could you possibly let a show as good as this slip out of your grasp? Give it another season. Give it a chance to find an audience. Keep Kevin McKidd around. The guy has talent. Don't let this show die.

Now for some story commentary...

I really really liked tonight's episode. I've been too lazy to make this comment before, but I've been thinking about the way the series arc should play out. My thinking was that Dan should keep going back, changing things, and coming home, only to find that everything changes ever so subtly every time he goes back. That everything changes, over time, to such an extent that he ends up being a stranger in his own life. The man who saves the world...for everyone but himself. See, the tragedy of Dan Vasser is that, unlike Doctor Sam Beckett, he actually gets to go home...but it doesn't matter, because home isn't exactly like he left it. That this is a home for a Dan that doesn't exist. Having his son replaced by a daughter, Caroline, was a wonderful glimpse into the kind of alternate time line mind-fuckery we could look forward to on the series. Tonight's episode featured the logical conclusion of that arc. It was about a man who changed things so much that he no longer recognized the world around him.

I really wish we could see more of this series.

Kudos to cast and crew of Journeyman you did a great job. My only critique is that for a show like this, it took too long to establish the story for the short attention span people.. If the last 3 or four episodes were shown earlier you might have gotten a larger audience. As it is, if it had to end tonight, you ended it on a perfect note. "Katie."

I loved this episode and I love this show. I had already written a letter to NBC (via their website) asking to save the show. I am now going to write a letter thanking them for at least the half season, but shunning them on ending such a wonderful series. Everyone involved should be commended, from the show's creator to the writers and the incredible cast. I'm hesitant to single out one person in the cast, because everyone is so good, but Gretchen Egolf has a way of completely communicating everything in a scene in an instant with only the look in her eyes. I'm looking forward to owning the season on DVD and having a big marathon one weekend. To everyone involved: This show should be a badge of honor to you for the rest of your career. Wear it proudly. It is well deserved. And one more little bit...I'm a sound designer for TV (not "Journeyman", unfortunately) and I wanted to give my kudos to the people who did the sound work on that Winnebago scene at the top of Monday's episode. Top notch.

Sad to see this one go . . . Here, from Wiki: "Perfidia (Spanish for "perfidy") is a popular Mexican song about love and betrayal written by Alberto Domínguez (1913–1975). Aside from the original Spanish, other renditions exist including English and instrumental versions. The English lyric is by Milton Leeds. The song was published in 1939 and became a hit for Xavier Cugat in 1940." 'Love and Betrayal' . . .how fitting

That is, when the writers' strike is over, which at this rate will be 2010. Anyway, the supporting cast on Journeyman was awful - there was no sense of ensemble, no personality to any of them -- and I think this is what really deep-sixed the show. Also, I've just realized that I don't LIKE McKidd playing an American -- his rhythm seems off. At any rate, I hope someone gives him a show worthy of his talents - Journeyman wasn't it, and this speedy cancelation is proof positive of this.

Man, I just don't know where to start with this. I really wanted to love this show from the start. It took a little while, but I really warmed up to it, around the time that Elliot Langley (sp?) started to show up. I really loved his wife and I have started to enjoy the Brothers Vasser; now that Jack believes what is going on. I finally got my wife into it about 6 or 7 episodes ago and now she can't believe that it is over! That is really too bad, coming from a woman who hates Lost, Heroes, Chuck, Jericho, and just about every other show that I love. ---And the way that the show ended, with him sitting there, watching her sleep and waking her up as he 'travels.' What a classy way to end a show. I am saddened but very satisfied with how they ended it.

I've kind of breezed through most of everyone's comments, and everyone has hit it on the head.

The introduction of Evan was just great, and the questions Dan asked: did his death lead to Dan's travels?

Elevator scene with Langley...great.

Jack was great yet again...in the hall...and the private moment with Katie...the one that got away.

Strabo, great commentary bud. You are completely right, they could really fuck with Dan's mind in future episodes. As Evan said, it only takes a "nudge".

This is about twenty minutes from where I live...I will be on the lookout for shady clowns from now on...

FAIRFIELD — Police had no trouble spotting the suspect wanted for recent vandalism on Reef Road — there wasn't anyone else running through the seaside neighborhood dressed like a clown.

Gary Heussler, 20, a student at Fairfield University, was charged with interfering with an officer and breach of peace. He was released after posting $500 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 27 at Bridgeport Superior Court.

According to police, the shenanigans started when Jonathan Desautels, a Reef Road resident, heard pounding outside his house about 12:30 a.m. Sunday. When he looked out, he saw a man in a clown suit pounding on his Nissan sedan in the driveway.

Desautels shouted at the man and the clown replied with un-clown-like epithets and ran off.

Police broadcast a description of the suspect — big pink-and-black flowered dress, big-booted feet. Police Lt. Michael Walsh said Heussler, a Hamden resident, ran from the vandalized car to Bravo Restaurant on the Post Road.

"That's a considerable run, from Reef Road to Bravo's, especially in a clown suit," Walsh said.

Officer Mark Fracassini spotted Heussler on the Post Road and ordered him to stop, police said, but instead Heussler allegedly swore at the officer and continued running.

Officers eventually had to tackle Heussler to take him into custody, police said. They said he smelled of an alcoholic beverage. Police had no explanation why he was dressed as a clown.

For once a good show getting canceled managed to deliver some closure before being prematurely dumbed into oblivion. This was the best new show of the year by a long shot, given a better schedule time-slot it would have doubled its viewers at the very least. I can actuallu buy the DVD when it gets released and watch it over and over as a mini-series instead of a season as intended simply because of the intelligent way Kevin Falls produced the final episode. NBC have shown their awareness of their own product to be utterly non-existent and their decision making to be a billion levels of stupid! My highest praise to the excellent cast and crew for this show, I hope they all go on to better and more prosperous futures that don't involve that dumbass network NBC aka N-othing B-ut C-rap! Also, thinking about Dan's final talk with Livia where he says "I feel like we're not going to be seeing each other for a while" was just PERFECT. As was the last 30 seconds. PERFECTION. Even the idea of the Journeymen dying out - GENIUS. I don't even want to speculate anymore more where this show could've gone, but I'll be imagining Dan journeying for the remainder of his life, with his wife waiting for him, his brother supporting him, and people's lives being changed for the better. Bravo. Also, not giving up hope. Someone tell something I can do to help and I'm there.

this was a rare case where I didn't really care for the show in the first couple of episodes, but over time, ALL the characters grew on me.

dan, livia, kate, jack... all of them.

I'm not a hater, and I like to watch heroes, but was the 3rd season to start with frakkin A-bomb dropping on all the characters other then elle and hiro, I wouldn't mind.

over here at JM, dan is cool as fuck, livia is so damn sweet, jack has turned from annoying to badass, and katie is probably the most understanding and supporting wife EVER!

so once again, FUCK YOU NBC!

Small Comfort
by KingKirby

To say "at least we had closure" is very small comfort. I had invested my time every Monday night as well as my interest in this program...one of millions of people who watched...not enough millions of course. The writing was very good, the performances even better. Some wonderful OMG moments, too, including when Dan's son came in and saw him disappear. But still, at least Kevin Falls saw that with the writing on the wall about ratings (and the then looming Writers Guild strike) it would be a good opportunity to bring things to a perfectly constructed, if unwanted, conclusion. I still curse ABC for letting "Invasion" die without at least giving us a two hour conclusion movie to their cliffhanger season finale. At least networks use to give shows different chances...'Well, it didn't work here, let's try it over here', but now it's "It didn't work here, get rid of it!" The networks all need to go back and give more shows a chance, like NBC did with "Cheers!" and "Seinfeld" and "Friends". True enough that those were half-hour sitcoms that anyone could jump in on if they'd never seen it before, but look at "Quantum Leap": "Trapped in the past, Dr. Beckett finds himself leaping from life to life, putting things right that once went wrong and hoping each time that his next leap would be the leap home"...they told you the set-up each week, so anyone could join the adventure (I actually like that "Pushing Daisies" does it now in it's opening narration each week). Well, anyway...thank you Kevin Falls, the writers, the cast (especially Kevin McKidd), and yes to NBC too, for giving us at least 13 quality episodes of "Journeyman". So says the King.

Wow. The last 10 minutes of this episode hit me harder than the M*A*S*H and Twin Peaks enders. I wish I had a wife like Katie. I did send multiple e-mails to NBC, but I don't think we have a chance with this one like we did with Jericho. And of the two, 'Journeyman' deserves to live more. But NBC is even more retarded than CBS, so this is toast. DAMN IT ! ! ! The only saving grace is that they did manage to leave the show in a good place. If there's a "Festivus Miracle" and the show comes back, the continuity will be in good shape.

What I love about this show is it has BALLS. Every consequence of the premise is explored. The people behave in a realistic way. They ask all the questions you would ask. It's one of the most tightly scripted and satisfying television shows I've ever seen. Compare this to the usual trash where the plot evolves on the premise that nobody says what's on their mind and consequences are ignored. It's like night and day.

Suggestion for Journeyman fans

I would suggest that all those who enjoyed the show to pile over to NBC and keep watching it, whenever you can, from beginning to end, for as long as NBC keeps it on their site. Let them see there was a fanbase-PLUS rewatch the shows for all those great little touches. THEN, after watching an ep- THANK NBC for keeping it online and tell them how damned awful of a choice it was on their part to end the show. FINALLY, just on the Amazon e-mail list to be notified when the set is available so, perhaps, the production company and crew can get a little "thanks" from us by their residuals on the show. This was a RARE and GREAT show, so make sure your friends all know what they missed, or dissmissed. I can't wait for the dvd set myself, and I hope there are a few commentary tracks and interviews added as well. This show was too good to just stop at 13, but really, do you REALLY want sci-fi to pick this up? They'll have McKidd fighting aliens or dinosaurs in no time, I promise you. Sci-Fi never took Torchwood (BBCAmerica's highest rated show EVER) probably becuase it was too adult and over their heads, I have a feeling that if they took on JM they would treat it worse than NBC did (if such a thing was possible).

JOURNEYMAN iS DEAD .... Get Over It
by DS9Sisko
Dec 20th, 2007
01:35:08 PM
Journeyman is over. I love the show, I really genuinely do. Kevin McKidd and Gretchen Egolf are fantastic and the storytelling has been terrific. However, the ratings are --in a nutshell -- disastrous. Monday's episode registered a 4.4 Neilsen rating. It's 18-49's were worse. Wednesday's episode registered a 4.6 household with a measly 1.7 18-49 demo. (Per Hollywood Reporter). That's just fatal. I applaud the efforts of those who want to save Journeyman and I would support any effort to get the show moved to SciFi, for example. But even I would cancel its NBC run with numbers that low. These days, due to the internet and instant reactions, every time a great show is cancelled prematurley fans tend to rebel and act as if it is the end of their world. But the truth is that the television landscape has been a brutal, unforgiving place for-practically-ever. Fantastic shows like Eastside/Westside (60's), Executive Suite (70's), Palmerstown USA (80's), EZ Streets (90's), and Profit (2000's) are a teeny sample of shows that should have lasted longer but didn't. The way that some fans carry on you'd think networks didn't start "punishing" them until the axing of Wonderfalls and Firefly, although the facts, history and common sense tells us otherwise. The bargain that you and I as viewers have made since commercial television began was that the networks would put on shows and depending on how many people watched on what night in what time time slot depending on the strength of the competition, the show would survive or the show would be cancelled and something else would take its place. There is no expressed "right" to have any show on the air, as some fans now like to think. Journeyman is a show, despite its passionate following, did not gain enough traction and in fact failed even to hold steady to enough households or 18-49's or any other measure that would keep it on the air. I can understand the desire to save one's favorite shows, but a lot of the response we see here and elsewhere to a doomed show like Journeyman amounts to little more than mass hissy fits among the faithful. 4-5 million viewers trending downward is guaranteed cancellation on broadcast prime tv and I think a whole lot of fans should be grateful that the show lasted through its 13 episode pre-order because otherwise it would have surely been ditched long ago. Thanks to Kevin Falls for a fantastic series, to the stars for putting on a hell of a show, and the writers for such interesting stories. I, for one, will be purchasing the complete series when released on DVD.

not by a long shot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =YkzY343nKm0 Nice Journeyman clip. Someone want to post the last 5-10 minutes on You Tube (of the finale)? Pretty please. Any yes, technically Journeyman SHOULD be cancelled, but look at FOX with AD - they at least gave it 3 seasons (granted more of a critical hit), but Journeyman COULD have garnered that praise. It was just starting to get noticed by critics in the last two episode. DS9, there's nothing wrong with bitching, or hoping for something good to happen even if there less than a 1 % chance of it hapenning. It's called hope, passion, and someone people just like standing up for things they like/ are going to miss. because it's special effects budget is nil. That liquid ripple effect when Dan travels is neat but I don't think it's costing them a mil per episode or anything. The show is completely character driven and rarely has any special effects, and since Dan only seems to travel in his own lifespan there are no expensive sets and costumes. This show is a deal for Sci Fi because it's a sci fi show with a cult without the expense of a sci fi show.

I like JM and would have continued watching it. It seems to me, that whether you're talking Neilsons or political polling, nobody knows how to do it in the 21st century. Traditional techniques fail to grab a broad sample. But regardless of ratings, you have to sell your product before you can start relying on accurate feedback. If a good show isn't doing well, then the first response should be to figure out a way to sell it better, not just give up. But Hollywood types don't understand their product well enough to do this. It's really quite sad, seeing all that money left on the table. Not to mention that it was nice having stuff to watch on a Monday.

I think they were doing something particularly clever with the way Dan experiences time vs. non-travelers experience time. Everybody else lives in a many-worlds scenario where changes in the past cause the future to change (or branch off). But Dan lives in a scenario where if something happens that would alter his time-line (like Evan surviving so he couldn't "take over" as a traveler at that time), Nature intervenes to correct it. Dan experiencing time differently in this way explains why he can remember the way things were in different time-lines and doesn't cause paradoxes with himself (like losing his motivation to go back in time because a person he saved didn't die). The internal logic of this show seems to make a lot of sense.

The biggest unresolved Elliot Langley question is how was Langley able to call Dan on his cell phone while he was in the past? That is a HUGE question. It implies that Langley knows much more than he let on in that final conversation, that he has the ability to travel in time, or at least access to the technology that allows time travel.

Just wanted to add my name to the list of enthusiastic fans of this gem of a show. I was on the fence after the pilot (but Livia popping up unexpectedly + the ending with the digging of the ring got me to watch the 2nd ep.) and watched the first 3 or 4 episode as “background noise” while working on my laptop. But by ep. 5 the laptop was in its case and my full attention was on the show. I convinced my wife to give it a shot and brought up her to speed and she was hooked by ep. 7. These last two episodes were great. Last night finale was superb. The concept of time traveling was handled beautifully and smartly. There were so many ideas to explore. So kudos to ALL involved. We’ll really really miss you. I blame NBC for not showing one iota of support towards this show. Guess I’ll have now one more hour on Mondays to spend on the Xbox. Make that 2 ‘cause I’ve given up on Heroes after the crapfest that this 2nd “season” was. Side note to Xiphos: When you talk about Jeff Zucker buying shows for NBC that he produces himself, I think you mean Ben Silverman. The guy who founded Reveille (The Office, Biggest Loser…) and is now co-chairman of NBC Entertainment and NBC Universal Television Studio. Not that it makes much a difference as both of them are douchebags for cancelling JM. PS: I never post on this site. How do you do Paragraph Breaks?

they really CAN'T afford it. I think I read it's about 2-3 million. Just look at the shitty film quality Sci Fi shoots their shows on man! Even BSG shoots in Vancouver and on bad cameras, so they have to make everything really dark. Journeyman also has a massive music budget (which I would argue they don't need), and the fact that Fox makes the show doesn't help anything AT ALL. Shooting all on location in San Fran is also very expensive, and could not be relocated to Vancouver without really hurting the show. Never would happen, and even if I did I don't want Journeyman to look like the Dresden Files (but It'll still never happen).

There is absolutely no denying that NBC has supported a number of low-rated shows that went on to great acclaim, higher ratings, and/or multiple awards like Friends, Law & Order, etc. But the first problem with your maggot infested logic is that those shows have been few and far between. For every Seinfeld, NBC cancelled Sonny Spoon, Ferris Beuller, The Fanelli Boys, Working It Out and Parenthood. For every Hill Street Blues, NBC ditched a Father Murphy, McClain's Law, and Lewis and Clark Show. For every Scrubs, NBC took an axe to a US: Undercover, Emeril and Three Sisters.
