I'll see any film the man makes, guaranteed. I'd love to be able to see that Fly opera too, but yeah, that aint ever likely to happen, unless they were to release a recorded performance on dvd or something.

Oh, and speaking of Cronenberg and Opera, when the hell is M Butterfly going to be released on DVD. It's the only one of his films that I don't have on shiny disc damn it.

That was awesome dude. So what if Cronenberg has been making good to great movies from the '70s and just keeps on getting better, his last two being among the best movies of their respective years? Who cares if he directed The Brood, Scanners, The Fly and Naked Lunch to name only a few? Who cares? Not landrvr1! He can't even count the ways that he doesn't care! He can't even finish the sentence about how much he doesn't care! He can't even spell out the word rover! This motherfucker is my God, I can't even count the ways that I w

I also have been a fan of Cronenberg since Scanners, The Brood, Videodrome... The Fly is poetry, brought down just a bit by the limitations of makeup EFX at the time... And listening to the commentary on Spider is like going to a great film class... Cronenberg is a unique talent and always worth seeing - thanks for bringing us more of him!

Don't know about this Fly Opera thing but everything else in the Cronenrepertoire is okidoke by moi. I'd like to see a return to the more filthy/slushy alien type things (ala Existenz, Videodrome) but otherwise - carry on as per normal. Appreciated the Cronenupdate Quint.

I second that. Cronenberg was one of those guys who populated my imagination with dreadfully nightmarish things. Videodrome? Peter Weller sticking that videotape into his fucked up vagi-hole? That absolutely horrible moment at the end of The Fly where Brundle is so mangled beyond recognition by his experiments he fucking BEGS to chew on some shotgun pellets? Fuck. Even Dead Ringers got me with those psycho brothers and their twisted gyno instruments. Cronenberg always surprised with how deeply dark and twisted his visions were. And they always had a lot more going on under the hood than most horror flicks did. Let's get back to some of THAT. If I can get to see one more head Cronenblow like that one in Scanners did, fuck, I'll be set for life. Shazaaam!!!

LOVE David Cronenberg. What a unique voice in American film! I really liked him on his guest spot on "Alias" too, but my God "History of Violence" was yet another great Cronenberg movie! I haven't seen "Eastern Promises" yet but I'm going to rent it as soon as I can. I heard the movie is fantastic. Thanks a lot for the interview, Quint, and thanks Mr. Cronenberg. I can't wait to see the Alan Rickman interview, because Rickman is one of the best actors of his freakin' generation!!

1) There's a scene in the book Crash where Ballard hallucinates merging with his car that feels very "Cronenbergesque". Why did you leave that out of the movie? 2) Night Breed: what was up with that?

Didn't realise one of those Chechen thugs was Tamer Hassan from The Football Factory until I IMDb'd it. Also, it was a bit strange hearing Liberty X in the brothel scene. You see, I'm from England and Liberty X were a group formed from the losers (sorry, "runners up") of a Simon Cowell-type reality TV thing, so I never thought I'd see the day when the Canadian master of body horror and Liberty X collide! Also, you wouldn't believe how much my mum wanted to go to the cinema when I told her that Viggo (a.k.a. The One All Women of a Certain Age Seem to Fancy from Lord of the Rings) goes naked for some considerable amount of time. Funny that, cos the Russian Mafia aren't usually her cup of tea...

Operas are not musicals. In Operas, every single line is sung. Musicals are plays interrupted by songs. Oh, and musicals are gay.

I think he should get over the whole History of Violence, Eastern Promises vibe. They were both solid but i know he is capable of much more. I think Existenz is his best movie overall and I wish he would do something else along those lines. http://tinyurl.com/pv8do
