What the fuck? Seriously, I want to punch this guy. Degree or not, you sound like an asshole for trying to make slavery seem like a FUCKING PICNIC. "Hey, it wasnt so bad, I mean, they could have kids and shit (WHAT A FUCKING TREAT!!), and they were like, property y'know, and people are nice to their property and shit like that, so..i mean yeah slavery was bad, but them blackies got treated pretty well for the most part...in fact....yeah IN FACT THEM BLACKIES EVEN GOT FED ONCE IN A WHILE!!" What a douche...

Are you pissed because you don't believe him or because you're worried what he said was true? Do you believe that the truth should be amended because it makes you uncomfortable? He never said slavery was a good thing. Far from it. Do your own research. Slavery was an atrocity, but there are many things that elementary school textbooks and television portray inaccurately. It's true that for the most part slaves were not treated as badly as is usually contended, but that doesn't mean that enslaving a race of people based upon prejudice wasn't terrible. Weak people get angry because they can't think for themselves. History shouldn't be revised just because it doesn't meet your expectations.

I swear, it's so completely uninteresting to me. I suppose if I were there this would be enjoyable, however reading endless essays about the experience is like listening to a friend endlessly recount an encounter with someone famous; it's initially interesting but in the end who cares? Also, I just HATE that it's called BNAT, it just sounds stupid. It's like when Harry demands "Pwesents". *sigh*
Now THAT was a good BNAT wrapup!

if the fucking American studios had events like this around the world instead of just supporting them in their own country, maybe the rest of the world would appreciate them and actually start caring about cinema again. events like this are something the rest of us are jealous of, but then again i suppose that's what you fucking Americans want to achieve.

"Guess who sold them into slavery in the first place? Other black people." Absolutely true. While some black Americans can trace their ancestry back to how Kunta Kinte arrived here (i.e. actively captured by European slave traders) the VERY vast majority of slaves came to the New World because they were sold to the Europeans by their fellow African countrymen. I know that's not a popular thing to think about, but you can't change historical fact like that just to fit a modern political agenda. Again, it's not a "white versus black" issue at all. Thinking along those lines can't help but imply that there *is* virtue in one race that's alien to another... which is absolutely racism. This is an issue about human nature, and no one - not black, white, Asian, Hispanic, "conservative" or "liberal" or what have you - is exempt from it.

A few days ago there were posts saying "Uh-oh, nobody's writing about BNAT, it must have been shit!" Now the complaint is "Uh-oh, everybody's writing about BNAT, this site is shit!" Frankly, though, this round-up - despite a few problems I have with particular points - is the only one you need to read. Mentions EVERYTHING including trailers, gave me a feeling of having been there. And along with all the other reviews, it makes me interested in tracking down Farewell Uncle Tom. A little scared as well, but interested. Oh, and "pwesents" was eight fucking years ago. In the cliched but apt words of the emo kids, build a bridge and get over it.

I was the one who started the clap-along to that music in the horror-fest of the Urethroplasty. It made me giggle to do so, turning to see the crowds faces in shock, and mouths open in horror. Some girl had a video camera pointed at the audience from the screen area and filmed the reactions. I think that if it's ever shown again, there should be a split screen, showing the film, and the reactions to it. Make for minutes of fun! KnightShift... I think I saw you bring in that big-ass box, which must have had the blade in it. Any chance of a picture of it? Big ups again to Tim, Kerrie, John and Tim, and Daniel and Lars (who didn't do anything there, but is a cool guy) and Karen (the pregnant manager of the whole shebang) for putting on (once again) a fabulous show for us all. Especially to the waitstaff of the entire front row.

I forgot Andy... hell, the entire Rolling Roadshow crew needs a big shout out. These were the people who helped give me and Team BANDIT the '79 Firebird Trans Am we won back in August. It was great to see them and show out a bit with our story. You guys come to Atlanta, you can drive The Alamo (we named the car that) around town!

Yes, I've heard that slavery was overrated as a societal evil too -- by bigots and racists. I don't think you are one, but your white-colored perspective is unerstandable being from North Carolina, where they still moan to this day about them ungrateful darkies not 'preciating that shanty and the free food. Gawd.

http://tinyurl.com/28qfec I went and found a bunch of images for most of what we saw, along with YouTube clips of the trailers, some of Farewell Uncle Tom, etc. I might post the pic of the knife that Dad and I made for Harry soon also (the entire thing - blade and handle - was made from a single railroad spike :-)

Straight off: christian66, I've lived in NC for nearly twenty years, and I've never heard anyone "moan to this day about them ungrateful darkies not 'preciating that shanty and the free food". Be part of the solution rather than part of the problem, okay? I happen to know the Virgin Knight, and he always writes interesting and thoughtful reviews. I am TOTALLY going to try and join you next year, my friend!

You know who you are. News Flash asshole, I'm not black, and someones doesn't need to be to think you're a fucking douche bag for playing down slavery. You assume to know more than I do because I choose to be vulgar and harsh toned, and tell you to go fuck yourselves? 65 Years ago black people were getting sprayed with fire hoses and lynched by out of control rednecks, and you think that's distant past? Watching footage of that makes me want to vomit, and..KICK SOME FUCKING ASS! I hate faggots like you. Thanks for listening!

The scene I'll never, *ever* forget from that movie is Yor killing the pterodactyl and then HANG-GLIDING with its dead corpse to rescue the girl! What a strange, strange film...
