Sometimes you just wish you had better luck. Back to scrounging for food stamps and shreds of coolness in an otherwise dismal and depressing life.

Thanks for the word on THE POUGHKEEPSIE TAPES. I saw a trailer for it at THE MIST. It looked like nothing more than two hours of people being pointlessly, brutally terrorized. I will avoid. TRICK R TREAT, on the other hand, sounds like a blast.

Sounds like fate was against you my friend, and yet you still managed to pull together a pretty fun event, from what it sounds like. I think the unfortunate thing is that expectations are always so high for this event, that topping past years becomes a herculean task. One day I'd like to throw my ring in the hat and fly out there to Austin, but for now it's interesting to hear the feedback.

What wasn't shown? The FX deal sounded like Cloverfield, and I think the other one was Rambo, but I could be wrong. I Am Legend doesn't seem like something Harry would want to show, but maybe I am wrong. Also, I was hoping to hear about a special trailer for Indy, with some wishes from the Beard or Jones. Guess it wasn't to be.

Missing prints? That's what happens when you call it "BIG TROUBLE in buttnumbathon". A curse. BNAT X should be called: Citizen Butt Numb a Thon.

Oh and "It, like OLDBOY from BNAT 2003, has the real potential to find a wider audience" - key word being POTENTIAL...I don't remember OLDBOY pullin' in the bank...unless it's virally on DVD. And just hope that people don't confuse/get tired of Mongol cuz of "10,000 BC" or whatever that piece of Emmerich crap is called. Thanks for the updates though, sounds like a fun time!

Courtesy. However, I'd say they were the top two choices for most of the folks that submitted. I was more bummed about this year's BNAT at start time, than any other in history. I'd worked my ass off - and to have films cancel in the final week is the most painful and agonizing thing as a programmer - that said - we'll still be doing events with the titles - just stand alone events - and the films will be exactly where the filmmakers want them to be -

There have been multiple reviews, on this site, that explain why this movie sounds so terrible? What more do you need them to say, IT'S GODDAMM SHIT! Isn't that enough?

I've seen it; I knew it was fictional; I quite enjoyed it. All I can say is this, though: MGM is making a HUUUUUGE mistake if they think they will gain fans by marketing this as 'real'. People don't like being duped, and they don't like seeing actual snuff films (which is essentially what this would be if it was 'real'.) There's a huge risk of BWP-style backlash x 1000. DON'T DO IT!

Again, why was this BNAT title a reference to Carpenter's movie, but you didn't screen anything by him, with Russell, or the like? That sucks man. And I hate to tell you big fella (soon to be thinner fella), but HD-DVD is going to lose when WB announces it's backing Blu-Ray in January at CES.
And yes, I own, or have owned, three HD-DVD players, so don't think I'm stumping for BD.

I had a great time, met lots of new peeps, saw some folks I only get to see once a year, give Tim and Kerrie a gift from us girls in Team BANDIT... and was able to show out a bit with my new ink. I got some great swag, and somehow (thanks to aromatherapy wake-em-up smelly stuff, and some b-vitamin spray) only slept like maybe 10-15 minutes. For a girl who doesn't do caffeine, that is a record for me. I loved that we had meat pies during TODD, it made it a 4D experience! Plus, tasty! Kudos to Tim and Kerrie's staff, chefs and waiters, who were even less obtrusive, if possible. I said to someone at work here in Atlanta, before leaving, (while trying to describe the wacky that is BNAT) that it is like ' my Superbowl, my World Series and my Monster Truck Pull at all once.' I think that's pretty accurate. Plus! - It was me that started the clap-a-long to "Feelin' Good" and having 200 people clapping and laughing at the horror on screen with mouths open in shock was definitely a highlight for me. I hope I get to come next year, 'cause Big Red sure knows how to throw a nice party.
Yes I'm Jealous

I admit it...every year I read these things and am green with envy, because every year I WANT TO BE THERE, and every year I know I'm not going to be able to afford the trip to Austin (a place that I am dying to visit SOMETIME in my life), so I don't even put my name in for consideration. Having said all of that, this year's fun times didn't sound as fun as previous years. I AM dying to see Wall-E (even a 15 min preview) and seeing Dr. Phibes with a group of moviephiles would have been great, but for the most part, everything else sounded just...eh. Don't get me wrong though, I'm still jealous...and when time comes around next year, I will hem and haw and then not enter my name again...and remain envious. So says the King, Baby.

dude... i work at a co-op, a non-profit theatre and a boutique-y place in a vaguely snobby neighborhood. i bust ass for a long time to be able to afford this with the rent on my place and the bills now that i haven't had a roomate in a year. it kinda sucks sometimes, but it is a priority for me to make it to austin for harry's birthday party/moviefuntime bonanza. hell man, i started scouting plane tix in august, knowing that october is the time to submit, and this gave me a concrete goal to try and save up for. i don't know your situation, but i don't think i've ever met anyone who's gone to BNAT and said 'well, that was a waste of my money and time. ' Hells bells, we had people from Sweden, England and France there this year! It was like a WWII high school reunion! 'cept without those Nazi-jockboys ruining everything. Okay... I digress. My point, please, if you want to go, save yer $$. I cashed out a year's worth of change I had saved, paid for my new tattoo and still have some $$ to take to austin with me. That allowed me to buy some folks dinner and lunch who had gotten their windshield smashed out that day, and being able to help them out was grand. For those who said it wasn't good, I disagree. I didn't see the P-Tapes however, I was out in the street dealing with this drunk guy and his smashed-open head and the EMT's. Long story. Seagrass... the co-op in L5P is where I work. I am at ext. 113. Come in and ask for me when you're in the 'hood next time. I'd love to meet-n-greet!

Thanks Grendy, for rubbing it in (wink). This year was particularly hard with travelling to LA for Celebration IV in May and San Diego for Comic Con in July, and the assorted merchandise at both. Between those and paying off student loans and house payments and a bunch of Sideshow Collectibles (damn you Sideshow!), it certainly wasn't in the cards for this year. I will never say never, however. Atlanta, huh? Another place I hope to visit some year for DragonCon . But if I haven't been able to stretch my pennies to get to Austin from Phoenix, Atlanta is definitely on the backburner! Glad you had a good time, though.
